I forgot to mention, the play before I was struck in the face I tweaked my hamstring sprinting for a ball (apparently I’m not used to that much activity in the morning, maybe I should take a page out of Pwn’s book and start getting in some 4am workouts!).
My hamstring started complaining on that 500lb set, so I called it there. Set was strong, but left hamstring was sending me some signs to quit while I was ahead.
I’m honesty not sure if it does/did anything for me. I think this is just the second time I’ve worked it into some workouts. I thought it might be tougher than an SSB squat but possibly easier/more comfortable than a regular front squat allowing me to hit greater loads.
Once I got heavy, it was not comfortable and actually bothered my shoulders for a few days, so it is unlikely to make a return unless I can alter my positioning to keep it from stressing my shoulders.
Regular SSB squats will likely be in a 5/3/1 rotation coming soon.
@Koestrizer - Haha, thanks Ko. I am starting to feel a little less and less athletic as the years go by! I suppose I need to use it or lose it, but sometimes that comes with taking a baseball to the face…
@bigpappafrance - Thanks bigpappa. Hope you heal up quickly as well!

Oh boy, my chest/lungs were in pain. My chest still seemed to hurt the next day! I was staying above a 10burpee/min pace until around 8mins when I started to (figuratively…obviously) die.

A little pressing medley from the other day. These are the weights in a strongman competition that I have my eye on in February (lots of time). The biggest difference is the circus DB. It will be 60kg (~132lbs). The DB I used is only 100lbs, and that was very awkward. I expect that a circus DB would be even more awkward/uncomfortable.
I expect these to get easier with some more practice.
Things have been good, thanks. I hope all is well with you.
Training has been all over the place. I basically ran the “I’m Not Doing Jack Shit” template of 5/3/1 (main work only, no supp/assistance) for 3 weeks. Then started getting a few aches/pains creeping up so I took a week off just doing some mobility/prehab work and mixing in a little cardio (some burpees, AirDyne work, light supersets/giant set of some random movements, etc.). Then, admittedly, I ran some Crossfit-ish type stuff just for fun. I even played with some cleans/snatches/handstands/airdyne for a couple of workouts.
Training is a little on the back burner right now, but I’ve been looking around for something to catch my eye. I may dig back through some old Brian Alsruhe articles/videos and run something along those lines for a bit.
