Maple Syrup Strength (littlesleeper)

We were made enough to have another. Only about 18 months between each one. There are times when I want to scream :scream: and times when I want to cry :sob: and times when I wonder why. And then there is the time’s when I am asleep :joy::joy::joy:

You’re not the first person I’ve heard this from, which scares the sh*t out of me!

I have no doubt in my mind that this would be the case for me as well if we did have a second one.

Stories about this kind of thing are almost always negatively biased. It’s hard to explain the feeling that you get when your child runs in, randomly says ā€œI love youā€, and gives you a big hug that lasts nearly a minute, to people who don’t have kids. They just won’t understand it, and it’s easier to laugh about being annoyed by tiny little evil people, but life as a parent is filled with little things that make your heart feel like it could burst, and we tend to take those things for granted, because of all the stressful things we also encounter.
You’re also in WAY better of a financial situation than I was when I had kids, hence the response from my wife. We had NO idea how we would even survive. I remember having to sneak into my eldest’s room one night after the youngest had been born to take his piggy bank out and shake enough change into my hand to get a gallon of milk. We were that broke. It was a very scary time.
Somehow, we made it through, and now we’re comfortable in a house we own, with enough money to take care of all the necessities, pay all the bills, and have some fun on top of it. No matter when your second comes, it won’t be the wrong time - if things had happened any other way, at any other second than they did, I’d have different kids than I do now, and I wouldn’t trade those little shits for anything.

Well said Flap, I appreciate the positive perspective.

You hit the nail on the head when you spoke about those little moments when your little one comes up to you and shows you love, it is an irreplaceable feeling.

That’s a great success story to have been in that difficult of a financial position while having two kids and coming out the other side with what you have now. Impressive.

I hope my comments about deciding whether to have a second has not come off as me not loving my little man. I think the world of him, and am amazed by him every day. He just makes me tired and grumpy sometimes!

After superset B, I was exhausted. I was extremely out of breath after those RDLs followed by goblet squats with minimal rest. I took a few extra minutes after that superset to regroup to let the sick feeling subside. Another obvious indicator that I’m very out of shape! I’d like to start hitting the AirDyne a little bit on my off days to improve my work capacity a little bit, even if it is just 10-15mins at a time.

I did not want to workout today. I forced myself into it. Strength was there despite the lack of motivation. The only positive I could draw from it was the fact that I think that is the most I’ve ever added to a chinup before, and they are feeling strong right now.

EDIT:
I will also note that my shoulders were quite sore trying to get into position for my squats. I have been using my SSB more and may be losing some mobility in my shoulders. I should probably address this before it gets any worse.

Not sold on this type of workout. I ran The Conjugate Method for awhile and ā€œspeed daysā€ never seemed to do much for me. This could very well be my own fault for not implementing it correctly, but I prefer using my lighter days for volume or the repetition method.

Glad I got it in. Severe lack of motivation for working out right now. Not complaining, just making note of it. I decided around set 2 of my bench that I was going to save my rows for tomorrow, so I decided to take the bench for a little spin tonight. Since 375lbs is a lifetime gym (touch and go) max, I’m happy to have hit 365lbs (video above) tonight.

Strong bench mate! Motivation comes and goes for most of us. Just showing up, ticking the boxes, even only going through the motions goes a long way in those times.

I was doing 5/3/1 beginners, which is basically the same as your 2 day 5/3/1. Interested to see what your progress is with that 2 day setup at your level.

Sadly (for us weaklings) is that he probably needs the two day plan. The heavier the weights are, the more time between sessions you need to fully recover.

Of course, I’ve only read this. I’ve never been strong enough to test it.
