Well, last Monday was my last workout. Finally got back into the gym for a lift. Life has been good, but crazy busy.
Little man is teething, and touch wood hasn’t been too bad, just a little off. I was going through a series of interviews for a new job, which I was successful for! I start this new position (a Supervisor position, my first step out of the shoes of an individual contributor, and I’m really looking forward to it) on April 6. My current work is quite busy with me trying to get my projects wrapped up or at least to a point where they are easy to hand over to whoever fills my position. Our office just encouraged staff to work from home for the next 3 weeks in an attempt to control the spread of Corona virus. My house build has been going great, but I’ve been very busy most evenings with running around for materials, caulking, filling nail holes, cleaning, removing/installing door handles and face plates on switches/outlets for painting, etc. Running out of money, but I see the finish line! The finishing touches are proving to blast through budget a little quicker than I anticipated (paint, garage doors, appliances, etc.). Anyway, I hope to catch up on some logs over the next few days, but I hope you are all safe out there!

I was supposed to just do the 2x25 for wide grip bench, but I noticed the SlingShot and wanted to hit something a little heavy. Smooth rep, but I had no intention of grinding or maxing out so I stopped there.

I was feeling slightly more in my groove today than yesterday. I should be able to make the gym a little more regularly now that I will be working some slightly reduced hours over the next couple of weeks.

You train at home or what?

What sort of work do you do anyway?

Typically, yes. Although I’ve been homeless for nearly two years now and had my gym equipment at my friend’s place. He is not excited for me to finish building our house and moving it all out of his basement.

I am currently involved in highway construction, mainly the design side. Moving into a supervisor position in April, less large construction projects, more maintenance work.

Good little workout. 405 was snappy today. I was planning to go higher, but that was all the plates I had. Buddy was doing SlingShot bench today and he also had 405lbs on the bar.

Need to buy more plates only 800 pounds, that’s a beginner set Sleepy.

When will you be ready to move you gym back home?

Once I have my own gym back I’ll have around 800lbs of my own plates (no sharing!). I’m not sure when I will officially move my gym into my new place. This week my plumber, electrician, HRV guy and carpenter for my back porch should all be finished up. My basement is likely going to be spray foamed this week as well! Another week of good house progress (hopefully). My plumber is self-quarantined after returning from vacation, but he has his apprentices working on getting me hooked up.
Thursday is when my appliances are being delivered, so once we get those installed and have water, we will be moving in! Moving the gym will be a big job though, so that could still be a month out. Hope things are well with you Mort!

I’m not sure how things are going up there, but this quarantine and isolation stuff might go on for awhile. You might want to get the gym moved sooner than later in case you’re stuck at home.

There are supposed to only be 5 microcycles, then a 6th deload cycle, but I unintentionally took a full week off so I just kept pushing the weight instead of resetting. I thought this would be better for the death march towards my May competition, but at this point I’d be surprised if it wasn’t cancelled with the current COVID-19 situation.

I also think that this is going to last a lot longer than the two weeks after March break that was initially communicated. My gym is just at my friend’s house less than a 10min drive away, so I will still be using it there. Lysol wipes and hand sanitizer!

It’s pretty unlikely there will be any PL meets in the next while, more and more people are getting sick and it’s not about to slow down. I’m still training like I was going to compete, but unless something miraculous happens (which I don’t expect) then I will just skip the tapering week and go back into some regular training.

I’m actually surprised that the meet hasn’t been cancelled yet, I’m sure a lot of people can’t train right now so even if it ends up happening somehow there wont be a lot of people. I looked at the CPF site supposedly they have a meet next weekend.

I think I’ll probably go ahead and do the peak and hit a mock meet at the gym for fun.

Me too, I’m not sure what their hesitation is. Everything is being cancelled, you would think this would be an obvious cancellation.

Good little workout. Things are busy, but going well. Lots of house stuff going on in an attempt to make a push and get it ready for move in as early as two weeks from now.
