Maple Syrup Strength (littlesleeper)

Yeah, a buddy of mine said if any soon-to-be-parent tells you that they know what they are doing when it comes to parenting, they are lying. Every kid is an experiment of N=1.

515 x 1 ← much better speed to start with, overpowered the bands until the final lockout. Still got it, but took a little extra effort. Coach has started an Instagram page, and this last lift can be seen on there.

I also did a few plyo box jumps (tallest box, not sure of the height), some banded facepulls and other prehab stuff.

Heart rate is staying up a bit after the bench workout on Saturday, so I kept things pretty low key this workout. Happy with it overall.

Thanks man, I actually find that the deficit sumo throws me off more than a deficit conventional for whatever reason. I’m not sure if anyone else finds this, or if it is just because it is a variation that I’ve never done before.

I’ve got an N=2 situation

Haha, very true!

strong pulls…I need to start getting me some sets of bands to add for after my meet.

Oh, wow! Haven’t been around in quite some time if I’ve missed that you are having a baby! Congratulations!

I’d like to suggest you do an internet search for these 3 hacks:

1 how to carry infant seat hack (I wish I had known this when we had our babies)
2 doctor calms crying baby
3 how to put baby to sleep in less than one minute

Enjoy the ride!

Thank you, and I appreciate the tips! I’ll definitely check out those tips haha.

a lot of catching up Sleepy, has had a busy time lately.
Good to see you cruising along.
Nice little Seadoo you picked up.
Could give you a ton of advice but once baby arrives you’re on your own
You still have no clue of what to expect, your wife knows she feels it everyday.
Remember that feeling you get when you hold your baby for the first time. It’s really something.

5s for dynamic work would be hellacious, man.

Thanks for sharing your coaches pr attempt warm up percentages earlier in your log. Used them today and got a dl pr I failed on Tuesday.

@mortdk - Things are still humming along nicely, I actually had my hip flare up a bit this weekend after my last workout. Could be due to all the driving this weekend and a pretty sub-par diet, which was likely pretty inflammatory (chocolate and booze). Signing up for a June 3rd meet, so I’m looking forward to seeing how all this work comes together!
Seadoo is going to be fun, just waiting on some warmer weather. Lakes are starting to thaw out, so won’t be long now.
That July 3rd due date is starting to sneak up on us, but I can’t wait to meet the little bugger!

@Despade - Thanks, but now that you mention it, it was 6sets of 4, not 5. Logging fail. I promise that it still wasn’t easy!

@boyce79 - No problem man, happy that you were able to take something away from all the jibber-jabber in here! That seems to be a decent primer/warmup when looking to go max effort.

POWERLIFTING UPDATE

I just signed up for a competition on June 2nd (yikes, less than 6 weeks away!).
This is a bit more of a high profile show than I would have liked to compete in, but it is the only weekend that works for us before my wife’s due date.

You can Google ā€œToronto Pro SuperShowā€ and see all the different events going on there that weekend. There is Strongman, gynmastics, Olympic Lifting, two PL comps, street workouts, pole dancing and more. There will be a bunch of fitness celebrities there as well, most notably Ronnie Coleman! Jeff Nippard was the only other name I recognized on the list.

I don’t necessarily think there is going to be a ton of people watching my PL competition (on the Sunday), but I expect it to have more than a typical standalone competition.

This competition is part of the CPF, which is an affiliate of the WPC. My previous competitions have been with the CPL (IPL). Interested to see how they compare when it comes to how they run a meet.

Since I’ve been running Conjugate, and haven’t done the strict ā€œBig 3ā€ in ~12 weeks, I have no idea what to expect for numbers right now. I’m going to run 5th Set peaking protocol starting this coming Saturday, so this should give me a good indicator of how I’ve progressed (or regressed).

Will pay good money to watch you compete in this :joy:

Haha, I’m sure you would!

Thanks man, unfortunately:

ā€œI’m sorry to let you now that the meet is currently full. We do have a waiting list and it is very common that people drop out as the meet nears.Would you like to be on the waiting list and I can let you know if a spot opens up?ā€

So it appears I’ll settle for being on the waiting list for now. I’ve asked how far down on the waiting list I am. Fingers crossed some spots open up. I’m going to train as though I have a competition that day, and worst case scenario, I’ll go to a local PL gym and do a mock meet to get some semi-official numbers for my current lifts.
