Maple Syrup Strength (littlesleeper)

Everytime someone talk about bees I think to this:

What is the utility to bench with a shirt?

I guess the content is too inappropriate for us Canadians.

Holy crap, I could not get through the first 30seconds of that noise.

I can’t really give a good answer for this. Overload the top portion of the movement? Acclimate yourself with heavier weights in your hands? Fun? I’d just Google it, but I’m too lazy.

That was back in my youth, when I was stronger.

Easily! I got the ā€œFull Boarā€ (yellow) SlingShot which I believe recommended having a bench over 315lbs. There was no issue touching my chest, and was still relatively heavy. I don’t think I’d be able to do much more than 10-15lbs over my max with the SlingShot at this point in time. Maybe once I get used to the feel that might change.

Now I am confused. Are we talking about a bench shirt (as in geared powerlifting, say a Katana from Titan) or are we talking about a slingshot?
In a bench shirt it should be very hard to Touch your chest with just 315. So I have heard at least.

Oh darn! It’s pretty funny. Comedian Joe Rogan does a little bit about Vegans and specifically about bees and honey.

Unless it’s a loose single ply shirt. I can touch with 220 in my F6, but it’s a very loose fit.

I stand corrected then. I don’t know a lot of equipped lifters however one guy competed in single play as a teen and said that he couldn’t touch with less than 140 kg. I have never lifted in a shirt myself.

Absolutely, with a properly sized shirt touching with under three plates is probably not going to happen. Even getting into the shirt will probably take one or more assistants, although I’ve seen videos of how to put one on solo.

Ha, your minimums are my goals…thank goodness I have my looks.

SlingShot from ā€˜howmuchyabench’, I was mistaken when I wrote bench shirt. My ā€˜equipped’ lingo is still rusty.

I’ll have to do some digging, I imagine I can find it on YouTube or something. Thanks ! He has some pretty comical rants.

Sorry for the confusion fellas. It is just a yellow SlingShot. Very easy to put on myself. I can pull my elbows back until my hands are at my chest height with no bar in my hand at all. It provides SOME assistance but I assume much less than a shirt.

The product description reads:
Level 3 elastic ideal for support through a longer range of motion
Allows you to press approximately 10-20% more weight than your max
Moderate support at the bottom of the lift sooner than other models
Angled seams on arm cuffs to provide maximum comfort
Best used with loads from 315 lbs and up

Note: I had to order a XXL for both my elbow sleeves and my SlingShot. They both fit well. I’m not going to lie, fitting into a XXL makes me feel like a fckin boss.

Morning weight (after breakfast): 213.8lbs.
My diet has been pretty bad by my typical standards. More along the lines of what a regular human eats.

4-5 whole eggs/spinach/coconut oil/2 pieces of sourdough bread with butter and jam for breakfast
Clif Bar for snack
Homemade chilli (I’m in love with my new InstaPot - Pressure Cooker)/eat out 1-2xper week (usually Pita Pit) for lunch
Protein bar/shake pre workout (if shake, then usually banana and natural peanut butter too)
Big dinner of whatever. Fish/beef/venison/pork, potatoes/rice/pasta, spinach/frozen veggies/bag salad kit
Pre-bed is usually another protein shake/greek yogurt/nuts/mini eggs/toblerone/other leftover sweets from christmas and 2 alcoholic beverages.

So I’m pretty much sticking around my maintenance level eating these things consistently. This leaves quite a few things to eliminate/alter to drop a few pounds when I decide I want to do that.

I’m feeling pretty strong in the weight room despite not sleeping very well, and I’ve been quite happy with what the mirror is showing me. Going to keep plugging away to get stronger, but I think next week I’ll be dropping down to a 3day per week 5/3/1 program (likely back to his Beyond 1.1) to focus on a few other non-exercise related projects I have on the go.

Look who’s joining the ā€œBigger, Stronger, Less Leanā€ Sub-Forum! Haha lookin’ thicker than a snicker there, tiny.

Edit: Thicker than a snicker meaning muscle-wise, not flab-wise.

You say that but his thicker is the ā€œafterā€ look most people are hoping to achieve.

I’m going to switch to a new justification/validation for my failures. Instead of just claiming steroids for people bigger, stronger, or leaner than me I’m just going to throw out the genetics card.

You just have good genetics… lucky bastard.

It’s what I hear all the time from fat people when they see me eat. Of course, they only notice I’m eating when it happens to be cake, cookies, or something else brought to work. They think I’m naturally skinny and just lucky. It has nothing to do with their love of fast food. Or lack of discipline. Or lack of willpower. Or lack of tolerating any level of discomfort including hunger. I’m just lucky.
