Man Purse

There is nothing “fashion forward” about carrying a purse. It doesn’t make one look “hip” or “trendy”, it just makes you look ridiculous in the worst possible way. And, it has nothing to do with insecurities over my sexuality. I have diamond earrings in each ear. I’m straight. I wear them because I like them. I would never wear a satchel, or knapsack, or fashion forward bag or any other silly buzzword you can come up with to describe a man purse because it just plain looks stupid.
You wear earings?!?!?!?! What a fag!

oh wait… so do I.
So does that mean we’re e-dating?
umm… I don’t know if there’s a nice way to say this, but…

I’m a bit outta your league buddy!

I’d just like to know. Out of the pro-purse crowd here, which of you squat and deadlift on a regular basis? I think we need to clear a few things up.

Also what does a dude need to carry?

Other than going to work with a laptop or something, what are most of you carrying around everywhere that you need a man purse anyway?

I keep 4 things on my person at all times:

 1. Wallet
 2. Phone
 3. Keys
 4. Chapstick

None of this needs a man purse.
Pretty much perfect, this reflects my pockets on the average day perfectly*(1,3 and 4 in my left pocket, while the phone is pampered alone in my right), assuming theres a condom in the wallet and maybe a pocket knife when you’re strolling through the hood.

I like both bags you’ve posted, although the distressed black one looks a little cheap.

I think for those of us who must go business casual, a briefcase is too formal, a backpack too informal, and a laptop bag too nerdy. The sling bag has been popular for quite a while. Dunno why people are making a big deal out of it now (or ever).
See, this is where you’re wrong. If you were really in tune to fashion, you would know that it is entirely appropriate to use a soft leather briefcase in lieu of a hardbound one if a hardbound makes you look too conservative or formal. There is an acceptable medium between a laptop bag and a hardbound briefcase that does not include a shoulder-strap carryall.

I don’t have a problem with the existence of a carryall. It works well in Europe and the Castro district in SF. But don’t tell me for one second that the briefcase is an old look and that they only radiate over-the-top formality. You can go casual with a briefcase and avoid having to bend to the will of those who would have us believe that if it’s cool in Europe then it has to be cool here, and if it isn’t we’re behind the times. Talk about a lack of individuality.

Also, in a business setting where you are clearly the superior employee (either a supervisor or the boss), anything other than a hardbound briefcase would be inappropriate. Assuming this is some sort of business setting in which you are wearing a suit. I also feel that this is the only time in which it is appropriate to wear a three-button suit, but that’s just me.

But if you show up to a meeting, and you’re the boss, and you walk in with a fucking carryall slung over or across your body, it doesn’t radiate authority; it radiates conformity.
I wear suits to funerals and occasionally weddings. I definitely don’t need a briefcase for either of those. What’s so different between a soft briefcase and a leather messenger bag? Heck, some briefcases even have a shoulder strap. How is one the epitome of manliness while the other is the spearhead of faggotry?

I remember my first sling bag. A Patagonia messenger bag. I was in High School, 1996, I believe. No one considered it fag wear then.

EDIT: Looking at soft briefcases, yes they are still too formal for jeans.

Pshh. Baby don’t be like that.

I always have 2 phones on me,

1 business BlackBerry
1 personal Personal Phone
Personal Keys
Work keys
Wallet
Gum
Ipod

I feel like I have a lot of crap in my pockets, but never felt the need to resort to a purse.

I ride the metro so the ipod is a must, and I get paid standby pay, so the work phone and keys are a must as well, cuz I never know when I’ll be called in.

Your entire premise is wrong.

You’re under the assumption that the US follows anyone in anything. We don’t. That includes fashion. That’s the reason we call it soccer, not football, too, btw.

Enjoy your murse and American tv and movies.
Hate to break it to you but Soccer is a term for football that was used in England a long time ago. It comes from the full name of Association Football as opposed to Rugby Football.

BTW, what American TV would that be? The office? America’s got Talent? X Factor?

Again, Britain leads and the US follows.

LMFAO!!! Britain leads what??? Food sucks, weather sucks, fashion sucks, entertainment sucks. The only thing Britain is leading the US in is the number of teenage girls with STD’s and the number of children in bars…

I was in complete shock the first time I went to a pub and saw lil jimmy in the bar with his dad, room filled with smoke while they all got “pissed” then drove home.

^yea but they beat us to the punch with that soccer thing…

Cockney, that’s a weak ass argument … you seem like a smart dude and all, but really? Next you’re gonna say “Yea but English originated in England so America followed Britain in that too”

Point is we take what we like and make it our own (American football is not Rugby for a reason) We don’t follow anyone in anything … we are our own nation, we’re not behind in fashion, we have our own fashion…

When I walk into a room at work, people are not checking what bag I am using to tell whether I am the boss or not. The fact that I am comfortable with what I am wearing and what I am carrying conveys that regardless of whether it is a briefcase, a shoulder bag or a pink snakeskin lui vuitton purse.

It’ll be a cold day in hell when I take fashion advice from someone in MEXICO!!!
LOL! SO what is wrong with my Croc skin boots and big belt buckle? My particular favourite Mexican fashion though is multiple cell phones attached to the belt.
All time favorite is a belt that had a digital banner going across the buckle! I couldn’t read it tho, I didn’t want to be standing there looking like I’m staring at some guys croch while he passed. So I have no idea what the digi-banner said, but I thought that was the weirdest fashion statement.
Yeah, I have seen those. LOL.

I actually do have a pair of croc skin boots (chelsea boot not a full on cowboy boot)

^good luck with getting the parody through … they have the Parody Gestapo out policing all the parody threads that are submitted … only the best of the best shall make it!!

I’ll give you the weather and the teenage girls with STDs but the food, fashion and entertainment are top notch.

Save me the trouble of posting a pic and getting banned, google images of man puss then be prepared to gouge your eyes out with a dull writing utensil.

Actually I think US and UK fashion do lots of borrowing back and forth. A lot of British Musicians were influenced by American Musicians and the other way round. Punk which is seen as the epitome of British music actually started in New York. A lot of modern US dance music came out of places like Manchester. Hendrix developed his style in London.

With clothes, a lot of new ideas come out of Europe though you are right that the US only grabs some of them. Also, the US is fricking huge compared to the countries in Europe and it has large chunks of population that has very little interaction with anyone even out of state let alone from a different country so there needs to be a real inertia for trends to catch on.

Okay but a man purse is still fucking gay. If your gay and you carry a purse then you get a pass. Why would men want to mimic women? Next people will be saying men in high heels is fashionable?
