Yeah right. It was shot down in separatist territory where several other aircraft have been shot down recently and a Cossack bragged about shooting down a plane shortly after it happened then deleted his post when the shit hit the fan.
What are you talking about? It was posted by Igor Strelkov, the separatist military commander on Twitter.
Do you honestly think a separatist military commander is going to fucking tweet about shooting down a commercial plane?
No I don’t. Do you like to make dumb comments without even knowing anything about what you’re commenting on? They thought they’d shot down another Ukrainian military aircraft. When they realised they’d shot down a commercial airliner they removed the tweet. It was subsequently retrieved via google cache.
You believed every word of it.

You referred to the guy as “a Cossack” then acted like me calling him anonymous was ignorance. Meanwhile, you’re googling like your life depended on it in between posts to win an e-argument.

None. This is pretty simple stuff. The Russian separatists have been shooting down Ukrainian military aircraft. They shot down a commercial airliner by mistake thinking it was a Ukrainian military aircraft.
If you can operate a missile system with those capabilities, you’ll be able to differentiate between commercial and military.

Why would a Ukrainian military plane be at that altitude, on that heading?

It’s not inconceivable that the Buk operator did not recognise that the radar signature and transponder signal were from a commercial airliner.

Don’t play innocent. You wrote two vague posts on the topic and suddenly developed an intimate knowledge of the situation, then had the nerve to call me out for being uninformed. It wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t contradict yourself. Quite honestly, if you knew all this at the start you’d have it posted the first time.

So yeah, there’s so much virtual assistance here that you need to take a Turing test.

Are you deliberately trying to misrepresent the dialogue? In my very first post I provided a link to a story about how the separatist commander thought he’d shot down a Ukrainian military aircraft and bragged about it on twitter. You failed to read the link and asked:

So the crux of your argument is that he only tweeted it because he thought it was a military aircraft?

You are still clinging to the idea that a military commander is going to boast about shooting down a plane (any plane) on Twitter. Think about what you’re saying.

The penny drops.

Uh…yeah. It’s not “my idea.” It’s in google cache from the separatist’s twitter account. And they’ve done it before:

"Vladislav Brig, a spokesman for one of the separatist groups in eastern Ukraine, said in a telephone interview that rebel fighters had shot rockets at two or three Ukrainian fighter jets on Wednesday evening. "

And here’s a video they posted of another Ukrainian military aircraft they shot down on June 6:

And a video of another one they shot down ten days later:

And here on June 29 the separatists bragged about capturing a Buk launcher:

Nope. The first link is a repost of the link I posted on page 1. I posted it again because people responding(such as yourself) clearly didn’t read it. The second link had nothing to do with the Malaysian airline crash(it was a link about a Korean airliner shot down in 1983.) As I said, I have only posted one link about the Malaysian airline crash in the entire thread.
