Ugh.
One report had it being possibly confused as a military plane that wandered off course. Still have to have some serious SAM capability to shot one down at 33k feet.
Watching this unfold on ABC right now,… listening to the on the spot reporter as he’s walking amongst “human remains” is off putting to say the least.
Curious what all the details on this will turn out to be. They just mentioned possible Americans on the flight, which would make it a crime scene.

Shooting it down makes it a crime scene.
I feel bad, but the first thing I thought when I saw this is “Thank Christ they know where the fucking plane is so CNN won’t have to talk about it for 6 straight months.” I blame CNN for that sentiment. They’ve numbed me to the tragedy of a plane crash.
Sky News correspondent Mark White, citing aviation sources, said the aircraft appeared to have been flying through or close to a block of airspace deemed “unsuitable for civilian aircraft”.
“It doesn’t mean aircraft are banned from flying into that airspace but pilots are certainly advised not to,” he said.
"It raises questions about why the plane was in an area it had been advised not to fly through
No Shit.
Yikes!
I’m going to Poland tomorrow too…

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt here because you seem like a decent guy and ask for a bit of clarification. When you said “They just mentioned possible Americans on the flight, which would make it a crime scene” did you really mean to imply if there were no Americans involved, shooting down a plane full of non-military personnel is not a criminal act, or did you mean something along the lines of if there were Americans on that plane that is justification for the American government to become more involved in the matter?

I know what you’re getting at, but i do blame “news” sources.
They’re a joke, their “news” stories are usually jokes, and they’ve done it to themselves with years of political propaganda and useless bullshit they put on to fill the time.
I bet the program directors are LOVING this plane crash because they have content for the next month.
In all seriousness, i hope this does not escalate towards a serious conflict with Russia.
Who ever is responsible for this is scum.
But, it is hard not to think "what is going on in Malaysian aviation? We still don’t know what happened with the first flight that has been lost . A lot of signs point to pilot involvement.
Now, why would a pilot agree to fly into that airspace? Or be given that route? I thought I heard today that there have been a couple of military planes shot down in that area the past couple of days?
Why did the pilots fly into a war zone? Derp.

I was typing while listening to former NYC Police Comissioner Ray Kelly talk about the events unfolding, and I believe what he meant by that description (his, not mine, but obviously not a scripted response) was that the possible presence of Americans would make it more of an investigation that would concern our government more directly than if not. No way did he mean that it wouldn’t be condemnable as a crime if solely other countries’ people were affected.
Between this, and Israel moving on the Gaza Strip, I’m glued to the tube.

27 Australians dead.
Who is to blame?
a.) Russian Separatists.
They have the weapons capable and have recently shot down a cargo plane flying per Ukraine just last week.
b.) Russia.
Would they be that stupid to shoot down a plane without consulting with Ukraine or the US first?
c.) Ukraine.
Accidental shooting?

Right now it looks like Russian Separatists.

Why did they fly into a war zone?
Earlier flights were routed around the area:
Commercial flight was restricted up to 32,000 ft. The Malaysian flight was above that at 33,000 ft.
A newer Notice to Airmen has since been issued and makes the restricted airspace from surface to “unlimited”.
