Man I already have some crazy stories from some of my professors
8/30/10
Squats:
barX10
135X5
225X5
ADDED KNEE WRAPS
315X3
405X3
500X3
550X1 5LB PR for high bar that is.
Action at 4:50 folks.
Thoughts at this point:
That rep with 550 felt worse than it looked. Chickenwinging pretty bad, and I lost a hell of a lot of torso tightness when I came out of the hole. These are linked, and a good bit will be fixed if I can get my damned elbows where they should be on my heavy lifts. The other thing I noticed when thinking/looking back at my logs is that I tend to loose tightness quite often on heavy squats. I’m thinking my core strength is not up to par. Also, as I was looking back at my logs, I noticed that I have not seriously done front squats in about 1.5-2 years. FUCK. Given that I’ve been making rather pathetic gains in back squatting, I think front squats just might be the remedy I need. Will start on them next week.
Paused leg press:
SledX10
+400X5
+800X5
+1000X5
+1180X3
At 1:25 gents:
Never paused with more than 1000 before. Felt good.
Cable ab pull downs
someXsome
45 degree back raise
someXsome
9/1/10
International arm night, so I did bench. If you wait to show up till after 8 P.M., the crowds are managable.
Bench:
BarX15
135X10
225X5
315X2
405X1
455X0 Failed at lockout, but a little higher up than last time. Still annoyed that I got jack squat out of that band work. Eh, back to the drawing board.
405X3 Came close to 4, but again lockout issues. Starting rack lockouts next week.
DB incline press
100sX5
140SX10
140SX10
'Round 2:05 folks, this was the first set:
Good PR here, as I don’t think I have ever done more than 6 with this weight in a single set. 2 sets of 10 is alright. Still wish this gain was in my flat bench though.
DB floor deadskullzzzzz
40sX8
60SX5
80SX5
95SX5
Same deal, 2:05 fellas:
Hammer curlzzz
50sX10
75sX10
115sX12 cause I can’t count, PR by 2 reps though and they looked much better this time I think.
Bout 1:05 here:
Tried to do some dips as a finnisher, but my elbows started crying after 2 reps, so called it here. Nice contrast shower is in order.

Its been a bit. Took a few days off due to work/travel to see family and other shit. Anyway…
Front Squats:
BarX8
135X5
225X3
275X1
315X1
365X1
405X1
455X1 Cheapest PR I have ever had I think, last time I legit front squated was late spring of 2008 I believe. I think I was 315 for a double back then, but I was not keeping a log then, so who knows. Amazing what 2 years and an extra 65LBs bodyweight, give or take, will do for ya.
Action at 4:16 or so gents.
500X0
I was really just overly ambitious here.
Things I noticed. My form kinda sucks as I am leaning forward a bit when I come out of the hole and I let my elbows drop a bit. If I can fix this I should be good for 500 or so. I think I will do some reps with 405 next week, as 455 felt pretty damn light. My shoulders/upper back just need to re-learn this. Half decent starting point I suppose.
Leg curl
single leg press
standing calf raise
hawt abbzzzz pulldown
someXsome for all.
Going forward, I will likely do my military pressing work right after my bench training. This will let me cut things down to 3 times per week, as work is getting pretty damned busy. On the bright side, Busy Season Bloat has me at 297 and some change post workout tonight. I drink more than a gallon of water(the anaconda mix) during workout, so that probably affects things some, but I sweat buckets too. The chalk on my shirt was getting soaked. Will probably weigh pre and post next time. Where are you at on your BSB CountingBeans? To everybody else, Rhodestown is pretty nice this time of year, hell, its nice everytime of year :}
Nice work on all the PRs everybody. I also see we have some quality new blood. Welcome folks. Keep at it.

A PR is a PR man, regardless of the circumstances! Awesome lift. From the video, that weight would have been good for 2-4 possibly. Keep it up!

Thanks man. My main limiting factor with the fronts squats right now is keeping my elbows in position and not bending forward.

COPIED FROM THE BOI:
9/9/10
Ok, so in the 1 day I took off, dumbassery managed to break some things in the gym:
[photo]29705[/photo]
Right next to my favorite deadlift platform. How in the blue dogfuck this happened is anybody’s guess.
[photo]29706[/photo]
The only squat/power rack in the whole damn gym, and some FUCKHEAD BROKE ONE OF THE SPOT PINS!!! The pin on the left used to unlock the spot rail was removed somehow. Was not on the ground anywhere. The damn thing was perfectly fine the day before yesterday when I did front squats. The gym staff naturally had no tools to attempt a fix, and did not even know it was broken.
Next time I am in there, my too set is coming with me and I will try to jerry-rig something with a set of vice-grips or something. If all else fails I can do box deads and just mess with plates on the ground next DL session to get the right height, but this made bench pin presses impossible. Hopefully I can get the thing fixed or else its front squats only from stands and I will just dump the weight forward if I fail.
So, floor press would have been my next choice for a bench session that night, but, no competant spotters were present. Dumbbells were the order for the session. Now that I am back and thinking about it, I will try the Kakno method of floor pressing next time and see if there is enough clearence for the bar to not mash my gut if I fail. Wish I had been thinking right a few hours ago.
DB bench:
50sX15
75sX5
100sX5
125sX5
140sX5
161.2sX5 short of failure here, but I kinda wish I had gone for a rep PR after the fact.
181.2sX2 Damnit all to hell.
Action at 2:40
First 2 reps went smooth and pretty fast, on the third I missed my groove and shit went to hell pretty quick.
181.2sX2 same deal here
161.2sX5 to failure here. Might have had a PR in me before teh 181.2 sets, but oh well. Perhaps next time.
DB seated OHP
125sX9 for 2 sets. Well short of a PR but was not really looking for one. OHPing will be on the back burner for a bit until I can give it its own day again.
Dips:
+100X6 cause I can’t count
Bout 1:33
+100X5 for 2 sets.
Tri rope push downs
someXsome.
Circumstances are ever changing it seems.
Geek METAL: Awsome song, but if you have not read The Silmarillion don’t bother trying to understand it.
Ok, done for the night. Sorry for the bitching, but FUCK it pisses me off when people break shit.
9/15/10
Deadline has passed, but not without the appropriate amount of drama. Had to miss the gym for 6 freakin days though. At any rate, this week is gonna be a combo kinda deal. Tonight I did front squats with chains, box deads, and various auxillary leg and hawt abzz work. My intent was to do front squats for reps, but for some reason I got this ubber nasty cramp in my left calf on every set I took above 3 reps after 135. Fucking weird.
Eh, stretched the hell out of it post training and gave it a nice long hot shower. Hopefully this is just a result of sitting in a chair at my desk for long periods of time and won’t be a recuring thing. Ok, the weights:
Front squat:
barX10
135X6 cramps here.
225X5 fuck more cramps.
said to hell with it and added chains for singles, doubles and triples.
320+ approx 80LBs chain X2
370+ approx. 80LBs of chain X1
410+ approx 80LBs of chain X1
You want to skip to 4:50
Went decently fast and pretty easy. Elbows stayed higher than last time, but they still need work.
460+ approx. 80LBs of chain X0
wrapped up and then could not get the bar situated right on my shoulders. Did not attempt.
Box deads. Bar was about 1.5 inches below knee level:
315X5
405X3
495X3
Bout 0:50 in here folks:
545X2
Bout 1:10 here
Trying to get my hips to the bar without leaning back. I’ve got some work to do I think.
SLDL
315X5 for 3 sets.
Leg press, calf raises, and hawt abzz machine for das ubba pump!!!
METAL: Ya’ll motha fuckazz need Jesus!!!

If they were using the true squat rack then maybe I would have. However, they were using the curl rack. I call that a curl rack because the “spot pins” are not adjustable, and are way too damn narrow to get into a good squat stance. Whoever designed/built that thing failed utterly. As such, there presence there was tolerable, lol.

Verticle push/pull night.
DB push press.
50X8
75X5
100X5
125X5
140X3 right arm
Action at around 1:32
140X0 left arm. My left arm is very un-coordinated.
100X10 each arm. Here is the left at about 1:05
I need to fix this lack of coordinationn in my left side.
Pull ups
BDW X 5 for 2 sets
+25X5
+45X3
+70X1
Maybe I can work up to +100. I will video these next time.
Lat pull downs: Just did a bunch with light weight. Called it here as I needed some sleep.
