I bet the handles were even padded.

Metal from tonight:

Gotta move to a new apartment across town on Friday/Sat. This shit will suck, but its cheaper rent wise and a better place. I’ll just be glad when its done, but why in the hell did my landlord shedule the lease to end on the weekend of the 8/15 deadline. Eh, it will just be a long weekend at the office.

8/15/10

SQUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAATTTSS!!!

Ok, so I forgot to get a freaking hat and still had to look into the damn mirrors. Also, got done moving earlier today, and have not gotten a lot of sleep lately either, so I am pretty happy with the way this session went.

EDIT: Action is at about 4:45

Felt like I hit a wall when I got out of the hole. I felt myself loose some upper back tightness, and I did not force my elbows forward far enough. The camera angle is also kinda shitty cause some guido looking dudes HAD to do circuits with all of the calf machines that are bolted to the damn floor right next to the rack. Anyway, decently happy with this, and will up the weight next week I think.

Felt a little frisky after that, so I tried the Magnum verticle leg press that my gym has:
2psX8
4psX8
6psX8
8psX8
10psX8

could not really fit any more weight on this and it still felt light. Ah well, mostly for a quad pump anyway.

v-ups, band good mornings, jump rope, suitecase crunches

someXsome.

Metal to counteract the shit music my gym plays:

8/17/10

International arm night…So I did bench.

BarX20
Bar+EFS minisX10
135+MB X5
225+MB X3
315+MB X1
350+MB X1
385+MB X0 !@$@#&%!%@!&^%&@!%!^@%^#@&^$&@^@#$%@#&^!@# DAMMIT ALL TO HELL. I hate missing lifts.
370+MB X1
Action at 2:00 or so.

380+MB X0 Same stupid shit. Lockout was just not strong enough. I guess it was idiotic of me to expect a 20LB jump in 1 week, and to try it twice. The bench isn’t the squat. Ok, so pissed and all, still 370 is up 5LB from last week. On the bright side I did smoke that one. Will try 375 next week.

Dips:

+45X5
+100X5
+135X5
+200X0 It was just my fucking night to miss shit it seems.
100X7

DB floor deadskulls:
50sX5
75sX5
85sX6 cause I can’t count either.
Action at about 0:45 in:

Decent progression I guess. Still, tris are pretty damn weak, and I HATE missing lifts. More modest jumps from now on.

Untutored courage is useless in the face of educated bullets.

METALLICA! Went old school tonight:

8/18/10

Deads. This was a shit session.

135X5
Added grey bands here.

135X5
225X5
315X3
405X2
475X1
525X0 twice. The video is in the hows my form section for those who want to see its epic fail.

Wide grip barbell rows:
135X8
225X8
315X8
365X5
Action at about 1:50

Bit more english than I want here.

RLDL
365X5 for 2 sets

called it here.

8/20/10

This night went much better. Did shoulders and upper back work, as the back stuff on the 18th just sucked.

DB OH press
50sX15
75sX5
100sX5
125sX5
140sX3
140sX5
Action at about 2:30

140sX4

Ok with this, as the 5 set ties an old PR and its been a few months since I have done these. I was still kinda pissed I did not get to 6 or more, but fuck it. More volume with them than I have ever done before I think, and there is always next week. This will be my main shoulder press movement for a bit.

DB rows:
151.2X8 each arm
221.2X5 each arm
291.2X13 each arm 1 rep better than the last time I did them. That was several months ago though, so a cheap PR here.
Action at about 1:40

Pull ups: 4X5, two sets narroww grip, two sets wide grip.

Phat hammers:
50sX7 per arm for 2 sets.

METAL: Broken up because 1 clip cannot contain the awsomeness of this song:

Reppin 140’s on shoulder press. And here I was sorta proud of my 110lb standing shoulder press.

Damn you paradoxical animal of conflict.

8/22/10

! WARNING THE WORLDS PHATTEST GOLFER IS NOW PERFORMING A HAT TRICK IN THE SQUAT RACK WARNING !

Still felt beat up this night from the heavy shoulder work on the 20th. I really shouldn’t have squated at all, but fuck it.

Worked up to 405+GB X1 with the hat trick:

Action at about 3:55

I then went heavier like a dumbass and missed some lifts due to shoulder/back tightness/pain. Eh, lesson learned.

Meat, the hat(visor really) disoriented the living hell out of me. As it went, once I got the thing in place to totally block the mirror, I could not see the j-cups. Racking and unracking the weight was a bit nerve racking. Any tips for this? I may just bring Old Glory in from my apartment and drap it in front of the mirror, or duct tape an “X” on it and stare at that.

Leg press:

Didn’t matterXsome

Reverse hypers:

Ab work.

I hate hats, but maybe I can make this work.

8/24/10

Bench night. Couple of cool dudes were in the gym with me this time. The fellow spotting me in the vid did the Branch Warren this past summer, and the fellow holding the camera is prepping for his first show. They also happened to be doing bodybuilderz chest work, so it was nice to lift with serious folks.

Bench:
EDIT:
BarX20
Bar+MB X5
135+MB X5
225+MB X3
315+MB X1
350=MB X1 This one was a grinder for some reason, so I spent some time getting ready for the next one.
375+MB X1
Only 47 sec. this one.

Then tried to do a rep out with 315 no bands, and smacked the uprights on the bench on rep 2. Called the set there and went to DBs.

DB bench:
140sX10
Short of failure, just to get some reps in.

Dips

BDW X15 for 3 sets

DB floor deadskulls:

50sX5
60sX5
75sX5
90sX5

Forgot to video these. Dammmit, will next time.

Then did a rep out on dips with BDW cause the bodybuilderzz were doing it, and it seemed like a good finnisher. Got 23.

Meh, still be proud of the 110LB standing press. I’m a big unco-ordinated bastard and would likely fall flat on my ass if I even attempted that movement with more than a 50.

whats your opinion on decline bench press as it relates to powerlifting?

worth it? not worth it?

[quote]DixiesFinest wrote:

I have never really done much decline pressing. All I can really say is to run it for a while as a ME movement and see if it carries over to your regular bench. Off the top of my head, I think I have decline pressed once or twice, ever. To me it just felt weird with my feet off the ground and no arch.

You’re awesome man! Props.

Interesting, I always make sure I have an arch when I decline bench, granted it is not as large an arch as on the flat bench, but still an arch.

Biggest benefit for me is its easier on my shoulder.

I may have to give it another go then, as it might make twice a week benching an option again. Shoulders can’t handle it more than once every 7 days or so as things stand now. The last time I tried it(it was a LONG time ago) though, I found it pretty impossible to arch on a decline. Eh, an experiment for sometime in the future.

I put the bars that you hook your feet on a little closer than required, so that I have to hold an arch to be able to lift without hitting the rack. Like I mentioned though, its not a huge arch, but I am able to arch nonetheless

8/26/10

Deads. I thought I would go with a differrent approach this time. Higher volume. Starting at 405 I would do a set of 5, then jump 20LBs do another 5 and keep on in this manner until I failed to hit 5 reps.

135X8
225X5
315X5
405X5
425X5
445X5
465X5
485X5
505X4
Action at about 2:37

I was really wanting 5 here. Hell, if you want to keep watching you can see me fail at rep 5 where I always do. Gotta get it through my thick head to know when to quit. Perhaps next time, though I am not sure if I will try this much volume again. Probably going to do 3s or 40LB jumps next time. It will be a “game-time” decision as it were. This higher volume did make me sore as blue dogfuck though.

Wide grip rows:
225X
315X5
375X4 then 1 pendley row.
Action at around 2:20

Various Ab shit: someXsome

Could not get this, “holy shit I’m gonna puke” feeling out of me. Eh.

8/26/10

Shoulders.

DB OHP

50sX12
75sX5
95sX5 cause some dudes had to do top 1/6 DB bench drop sets with the 100s. Tards.
125sX5
140sX5
Bout 2:30 gents:

These were a total grind. Just did not feel that explosive.

140sX4
100sX16
2:20 is where you want to start:

Again, lacked explosiveness. 1 shy of tying a PR on this one. Gotta shake this funk.

Lat pull down. Would have done pull ups, but just felt run down for some reason.
SomeXsome. Worked up to the whole stack for a set of 10, short of failure. Damn thing just has even numbers on the plates and no LB or Kilo listing.

Face pulls
