Making a Living

What does everyone on here do for a living?

I want to change my career (or start one) in the next year.

I currently work at a steel mill, make decent money and like the people I work with but that is it. I do not like the actual job, its the same thing over and over again. 12 hour swing shifts and working 7 days in a row a couple times a year are not fun.

I have no idea what I want to do, but I’m working on it haha.

once i graduate from college, i’m going to be a elementary education teacher, somewhere hopefully in the grades 4-5, and on friday, saturday, sunday, and maybe monday night, I hope to also be either a waiter or personal trainer. This won’t bring in a TON of money, maybe 40k a year, but I don’t really care about that, I know I’m gona have so much fun doing it that it doesn’t matter to me.

After maybe 5-8 years of teaching if I feel I need a little raise or a higher position, I will probably go out for a job as a principal in a elementary school. I’m very excited to start teaching. So that’s what I’m gona do.

Right now I’m a junior in college and hopefully going to start being a waiter soon to start savin’ up.

If only everyone on this forum would join the army. . .

Currently im a pimp

The opportunities in the pimpin industry are outstanding. However it’s not a job for everyone.

Long hours, less than pristine working conditions, and the co-workers… lets just say i’m not working w/ bill gates.

But there are large sums of money to be earned by working in the pimpin arts.

Just remember what big daddy kane said…

“pimpin aint easy”

…we’d have an army consisting largely of skinny procrastinators

I’m a math student.

This summer I have been working as a fisherman. Last summer I did some heavy labor work. Summer before that I sold fruit and wegetables at market place…

During the year, I give private math lessons, write nutrition and training programs, sometimes even labor doring weeknds.

Everything for quality food and supps.

I’m a social caseworker, working with troubled adolescents and their families. I absolutely love what I do. I’m also on a gang task force…

I’m a day trader. I contribute absolutely nothing of value to society through my work, although at times I like to pretend I do.

Damn I want that job…

I’m a software engineer for one of the largest US military contractors. It’s pretty glamorous. Between the women, exotic, travel, booze, drugs, and wild parties I amaze myself sometimes that I still have time for training and rugby…

Oh, sorry, dozed off there. Must’ve been sleep typing. Not glamorous at all, I sit at a computer all day writing code. Sometimes I get to go down the hall to the lab to test some of that code. That’s about as exciting as it gets. But hey, it feeds me and keeps me clothed. Plus I get a great feeling of satisfaction that I’m helping our soldiers do their jobs.

Me? Underground steroid dealer.

hey df what steel mill do u work for? what is ur job description?
I used to work for a steel mill as a crane operator. good money but absolutely hated the fuckin job. I quit and am now a full time student.

I’ve been a Structural Engineer since I was 20 and since then have worked on all types of projects. I like having a job that presents me with a challenge and allows flexibility. Working 4 days a week is great!

Testing high end female escorts for “fit and finish”, “performance”.

Assigning grade to.

$210/hr.

All jobs end up like that. Parts you like and part you hate. It’s the nature of the beast. That’s why it’s called “work” or a “job.”

There are exceptions, but I think that’s pretty much what you’ll find for the most part.

I work in advertising. I just started a few months ago out of college. Its not bad but i wish i could have a job where a make alot of money and get to be outside doing something.

p-dub

I work at Shalmet, been there about a year now. I run a machine that punches holes in 30’ steel bars.

You’re going to be PM’d to death on that one. Probably already have like 50 in your inbox…

I work for the Gov’t in Public Health/Preventive Medicine.

Wear your DEET cream and condoms! Just don’t use the DEET as lube, trust me.

B.

I teach English as a Second Language to international students at a university. I love my job!
