Major Strength

Look at that, a big step closer to that 600 squat already.

Congrats on the awesome PR

Don’t defend the Crossfitter for being stupid. He should know not to bail… That being said, glad nobody got hurt.

Yay for the squat PR! backflip, tuck jump, front pike, stag I told you I was a cheerleader

I’m sure you pay a good amount for that environment, but like you said it’s totally worth it if you want to go anywhere in this sport. I had looked into a PL gym near me in preparation for this meet, and thought I had found a good one that’d been around for decades and produced monsters…but it’s recently shut down. I will look into another one, and maybe I can find one that’s not too pricey and is close enough to get to on occasion.

Keep destroying it, man.

You’ll crush that meet, no doubt. You said it’s hosted at your gym even? Shit, that’s like 80% of the jitters right there!

Thanks veg! Although I have no idea what a “stag” is.

Lol, definitely not trying to defend him. Stupid moves in the gym are never good. Sometimes funny, but not good. Coach was fuming after this, “you’re lucky it wasn’t me you dumped that on, I’da punched you in the face!” Crossfitter guy went out and did 6 trips with the prowler, then he had to leave to go be somewhere. Coach made him come back and do 20 more trips. He was still pushing that mother when I left and it was pitch black outside. Quite the learning experience for him.

And yea, glad he wasn’t a strong guy trying to squat 400+ and dumping it on me. But then again, if he was a strong guy he would probably know how to squat in the monolift.

Thursday 3/17
BW= 255.8

-Sled drag 2 plates x 12 trips
-sled press 2 plates x 1
-sled face pull 2 plates x1
-mini band pull apart 3x20
-one arm mini band tri pushdown 3x20
-DB shoulder horn 15’s x 3x10
-Y,T,I 3x10 each
-shoulder dislocates w/ broomstick

-BB bench
bar x10, 95 x10, 135 x10

-Reverse green band bench
R wrist wrap on
225 x5
both wrist wraps on
275 x3
315 x1, x3
Felt like doing more, but coach said to cut it off there to let the wrist gradually get to where it’s strong enough again. Told me the plan is to get in the bench shirt twice before the meet, and maybe not even get up to a true all out max effort bench until the meet.

-BW chins
neutral grip x10
pronated x5
supinated x5
neutral x5
pronated x5
supinated x5
-KB tri extension 36# x 3x10
-Purple band face pulls 4x25
-Reverse hyper 180 x 3x10
-Standing BB wrist extension/flexion bar x 3x10 each

In other news, I was benching with a 66 year old man today. He did a 475 reverse band bench, and his body is not even at 100%. He does bench only meets and is easily capable of benching over 500. Inspirational!

Your warm-ups are torturous.

Good for you stopping while ahead, your wrist will thank you with a 405 bench by meet time.

What’s torturous is being injured and unable to train, hence the really long warmups.

Thanks for reinforcing me to be sensible, it’s so unnatural.

just stopping in now that I found your log. Your training is very similiar to mine along with the accessories. but your lifts are just alittle more …seems like you really like the chain suspended GMs too, I need to do those more so I can my DL up to par.

Congrats on the squat PR and watch out for those new bottles of nose tork!

Thanks for stopping by Lil P! I’ll be following your log, please follow mine and give any pointers you feel like dropping. I’m open to any criticism or advice. Especially from someone as strong as you.

My coach is the one who really likes the chain suspended GMs. I freaking hate them. But they are an important part of getting the posterior chain stronger, so I’m doing them.

Additional goal to add to my new goals: stay ahead of Lil Power’s numbers, she’s freaking strong!

It’s just the sled drag that sounds like… well, a drag.
I love thorough warm-ups though, just makes me feel good to train.

That’s what I do, reinforce lol

My goal is to stay at least 8 steps behind Big Power, so I can keep my mediocore status heh heh

Sled drags are not the most fun at all, Nik! But I’ll be damned if I’m going to get on a treadmill.

I’m with you, I avoid treadmills at all costs. There are other types of conditioning. Does your gym even have treadmills? Seems like they would look out of place amongst the other badass equipment.

Congratulations on another PR. How much more do you think that you’ll add to your squat # since you still have a while until the meet?

Veggie- No treadmills to speak of in my gym. There is a bike though.

Not sure how much more I’ll add to the squat. Coach seems to think that 700 is a very close milestone. I’m just going with what he says because he’s done all this before. I’ll say that I think 650 is doable by meet time if I get my technique right. If you watch the squat from the side you’ll notice that I have trouble sitting back from the start, which makes it harder to come out of the hole. I feel like if I can correct that part I’ll be able to squat more weight and to competition depth easily.

Awesome squats man, beast mode for sure!

You’ll wreck that meet man, looking forward to it and I’m not even competing!

Amen.

Dude, did you really just squat 625? Cereal?
Wasn’t it like, 2 days ago that I was saying you’ll get your goals soon?
That’s freakin awesome.

Whatever technique you feel you have to work on, you can get it perfect for the meet. The biggest thing is that you know you can squat with 625# on your back, so there’s no mental block there.

Great PR brother

And more metal, a current favorite of mine…
