Hey man, is Layer Cake worth the $10 to buy on Itunes?

Could not find it anywhere else.

It depends if you like those kind of Guy Ritchie British crime films. Admittedly Layer Cake has substantially more class than the grime of Ritchie’s work, with Daniel Craig playing a character very reminiscent to his Bond. But the goodness and style of Ritchie’s films is still there, plot’s a little redundant in all fairness but there’s the occasional twist to keep things fresh. I’d probably buy it under those circumstances, if you haven’t seen any Ritchie films, I’d probably recommend seeing Snatch or Lock, Stock before following through, but unless you end up really hating them for whatever reason, I would probably recommend buying Layer Cake regardless.

Sorry I guess you and I have not discussed movies in extent like I have with guys like Roybot.

I own Snatch, and lock, stock did not buy rock. I enjoy Ritchies style and delivery.

I don’t enjoy Rock N Rolla half as much as Snatch/Lock,Stock. Yeah, we’ll get there with time I’m sure.

I really enjoy Layer Cake, the soundtrack is oddly satisfying and Vaughn did incredibly well for a debut. You’ll enjoy it, I vote buy for sure.

Its only $10, so no big deal, but I HATE buying shitty movies.

Okay no long winded DB speeches.

What is your favorite movie?

Oh you’ll enjoy it, it’s real good, and strangely under-popularised compared to Ritchie’s work. Kind of wish it went a little more outside of the genre box sometimes, but for what it is, it’s real damn good, and very enjoyable.

My personal favourite is Pulp Fiction, though I should disclaim that my personal favourites are not necessarily interchangeable with films that I believe are the most impressively crafted. They just tend to be great films that I jived with personally the first time around or so and find incredibly hard to not talk about a lot or watch frequently. Hell, even my username is a reference to the film (And that was a big investment, I was very close to going for something really, really cool like “Leviathan” or “Daddy Deadly” or something).

Would not have thought that with you, I enjoyed it and still watch it when it comes on.

I find myself a genre guy. I have favorite comedy, drama, action, western etc.

Yeah, I really love it for it’s moral value and the subtle inclusion of new things that I can always take from it on subsequent viewings, sometimes I lose track of the unconventional moral lessons of Pulp Fiction’s characters and watching it again (which I do every birthday, but usually outside of that also) and being grounded back to living my life out in a way that I can genuinely respect under the circumstances. Whether it be the manly values of Butch and his forefathers or Jules and his intent to repent and become a good man with an admirable cause. My second thread on the site has a real in-depth explanation of this that’s much deeper than what I’m willing to write out now.

There it is, I haven’t read over it again, but I know that I proof-read it a hundred times for fear of saying something stupid on my big introduction, so it’s probably a very good representation. I was also never a real social butterfly when I was younger, I’m still not despite my willingness to ramble on for-fucking-ever online. When I was growing up my father wouldn’t allow me to cry or play too loud and other such things, so my social life was always broken in my childhood by lack of experience more than anything, my uncle showed me Pulp Fiction when I was young, and I directly attribute the dialogue and the character style to moulding my personality into something that wasn’t strange and reserved and actually building a base of friends. If it wasn’t for Pulp Fiction, I would have spent years in my early teens with very little social interaction, and I am in debt to the film for that. Pretty sure I jump into that to some extent in the link above, but maybe not so much as I could.

My other favourites run on the same kind of tracks, Raging Bull because of my passion for boxing when I was a younger kid and the metaphors for loneliness between boxing and life (more specifically Jake LaMotta’s life, but I can relate) and A Clockwork Orange because of growing up with a misguided sense of vitriol and lashing out at things that wouldn’t accept me (which also became my reason for boxing, and thus Raging Bull).

I go deep, but I won’t for now because it’s late and I still have a film to get through for tonight. I too have some kind of specific favourites. I watch Die Hard every Christmas, because it’s the best Christmas film ever and me and my uncle would love to see that shit each year. I find it hard to go by genre because there are just too many options, but stranger things like times of the year or situational relevance I can easily draw up.
