Magick's Training Log v2

So, we began sending the baby to daycare. I can workout in the middle of the day again. My God it feels so much better than late night workouts. I now prefer morning workouts if I can manage it, but waking up that early is proving very hard + I’m now convinced that doing so makes the baby wake up too, so no go on that for a while.

Last week-

double KB front squat with 24kgs and push-ups with 10lb sandbag in backpack.
10x5 on both.

KB clean and press with 16k and hanging knee raise-
11x5 on both. Felt pretty easy.

Switched to knee raises because I decided I want to do pull-ups in the morning instead. Been proving a bit inconsistent, but I think it works better.

double KB front squat with 24kgs and push-ups with 10lb sandbag in backpack.
10x5 on both. Went at 25 second rests in between. Felt pretty darn hard. I thought I’d be able to finish a tad bit quicker, but it ended up being a wash vs the previous session.

Today-
KB clean and press with 18k and hanging knee raise-
5x5, 7x3 on the clean and press
12x5 on the knee raises
Dropped reps because I struggled a tad on the fifth set. Felt a lot easier and so I went with fewer rest in between, hence the 12 total sets.

Dips and front lunges-
1x5, 2x3, 4x2, 3/2, 5x1=29 reps on both.

Dip strength is garbage now, but honestly this went better than I expected it to.

Last two weeks were a mess. Suddenly got sick on 11/5; basically couldn’t function. Recovered and worked out on Fri. Then last week was a clusterfuck of many things and I barely got to workout again on Friday.

Feeling a lot better now, but going on a trip on Thurs till Mon, then Thanksgiving and probably more shenanigans. Life is kicking me in the ass right now and I feel like I’m barely afloat.

Today-

Double KB front squat with 26ks and push-ups with 10lb in backpack-
4x5, 5x3 on front squats
4x5, 5x3 on push ups

I’m alive. Went on the first ever family trip. It was fun. Didn’t get to lift. Should be back to regular schedule and no illness now.

Last Saturday-
Double KB front squat with 26kg and push-ups with 10lb in backpack-
5/3/5/3/3/3/3/3/2 on front squats and push-ups.
Body felt rough from a long time of not lifting anything.

Today-
KB clean and press with 20kg and single-arm rows with 24kg (alternated arms with each set)
5x5, 4x4, 2x3 on both.

I realize now that there were a couple workouts that I didn’t log. I’ve done clean and presses with 20kg a couple of times and somehow I keep getting better at them even with long time in between sessions.

Weds-

Body felt really sore, so lowered the weight.

Thurs-
100 burpees in ~12:51
Had an earlier aborted attempt where I got to like 21 reps and then had to stop due to family issues.

Fri-

6x5, 4x3 on both.
Triceps felt very very tired.

I’m working out, but getting bad at logging. Worked out 4x last week. Mon/Wed were EDT training and Tues/Thurs were 100 burpees. Only interesting thing is that I attempted EMOM burpees on Thurs- 11x9 and it kicked my ass. Ended up being 5x9, 6x7, and then 11 reps to finish it off. Going to attempt 12x8 this week.

Today-
KB clean and press with 20kg and single-arm rows with 24kg (alternated arms with each set) or lunges-
9x5, 1x3 on KB clean and press.
2 sets of rows, then 2 sets of lunges, and so on.

Kicked my ass. I’m feeling good that I managed to actually finish it.

Been working out. Just gotta log last week’s stuff.

5 rounds of-
2 pull-up, 5 push-up, 10 squat

Weds- KB front squat with 26kg and snatch with 18kg-
6x3, 4x4 on the front squat
10x5 on the snatch

5 rounds of-
2 pull-up, 5 push-up, 10 squat

Thurs- 12x8 EMOM burpees
Spread those 4 reps across the last four sets. Felt very tired but I managed it.

Fri- KB clean and press with 22kg and lunges-
5x5, 5x4 on both

5 rounds of-
2 pull-up, 5 push-up, 10 squat

It is annoying how effective this kind of training can be. I began doing some more bodyweight stuff because I can afford the time now.

Got into a minor car accident two weeks ago that prevented me from lifting. Body didn’t get injured in any noticeable manner besides extreme soreness in my butt and calves, which I guess came from me clenching them really hard before the collision, and tightness throughout my back. Everyone was really surprised that I didn’t get injured. I attribute it to lifting. Lifting keeps you healthy and prevents injuries from minor collision accidents I guess.

Not gonna bother logging everything I did prior to the accident- just the latest and bests-

KB clean and press with 22kg and lunges-
8x5, 2x4

KB front squat with 26kg and snatch with 18kg-
4x5, 3x4, 3x3

Note to self that both of these felt seriously hard.

10 min KB suitcase carries with 24kg-
Total of 51, but done in the way that Tim Anderson from OS suggests- pausing the timer when you need to stop so that you get all 10 minutes of work in.

Restarted lifting and stuff today. Gonna use the same weights but do WAY less reps so that my body can get used to it all again and have no real fatigue-

KB clean and press with 22kg and lunges-

10 minutes of 1 pull-up/2 push-up/3 squat-
15 sets.

Tues 2/4
4 pull-ups, 20 push-ups, 50 squats done as daily work.

Eh. It’s been way longer than I remember since I logged.

Head oral surgery and that stopped me from lifting for about two weeks. Then did some of the same stuff, then recently got a rather sever cold that knocked me down for a day. Felt good today and lifted.

I’ll just log what I remember-
Last week I did-
KB front squat with 26kg and 20kg snatches
10x3
50 KB swings as 25/15/10

KB clean and press with 22kg and rows-
10x4
50 KB swings as 25/15/10

Did daily weighted push-ups, lunges, squats, and glute bridges.

Then got sick and knocked out.

Today-
KB front squat with 20kg and 16kg snatches
10x5
50 KB swings as 25/15/10

Going to try to make an effort to log more frequently again.

Sick again on Thurs and Fri. Today morning felt a bit bad but all in the head- body felt ok. Everything felt good by the time I finished cleaning the house and so I just finished this-

KB clean and press with 22kg and lunges-
3x5, 7x4
50 KB swings as 25/15/10
5 L/R KB row with 24kg.

I had done 10x4 last week and I really wanted to beat that number. I see that I did 5x5 and 5x4 back in Jan before all the nonsenses came one after another, so I’m hoping that I can beat that next Monday.

Get-ups- 5 reps each side with 10kg.
My body already felt bent out of shape and immobile since the baby, when I stupidly stopped all of the random mobility movements I’d do in the morning and throughout the day post-baby, but it got worse since the car accident and all the other nonsense from Jan. Now get-ups with just 10kg feels awkward and hard due to tightness and weirdness in all sorts of places.

Freaking horrible man. It’s a good thing I never cared too deeply about getting strong and fit, or else this current state of physical affairs would be doing nasty things to my brain. It already is- I am now finally starting to feel unhappy with myself physically.

30 KB swings with 24kg.

Gotta start somewhere. Hopefully no more random shit and I can finally string a couple months together. I did some mobility movements in the morning and they felt horrible, but I felt better afterwards.
