The nastiest “food” I’ve ever tasted was in Iceland -hakarl aka shark meat.
“Hákarl is a national dish of Iceland, made from Greenland shark (Somniosus microcephalus) or other sleeper sharks, which are toxic when fresh due to high levels of urea and trimethylamine oxide. The shark is fermented for 6–12 weeks and hung to dry for several months to make it safe and edible.
The process results in a pungent, ammonia-rich flavor, often described as an acquired taste. It’s typically cut into small cubes and served as a snack, often with a shot of brennivín (Icelandic schnapps) to balance the strong smell.”
The only reason I can think of to “acquire” a taste for hakarl is desperation due to lack of any other food LOL.
In other words, you’re Uncle Shark Bait! Pretty much.
Use to go TDY to Keflavik many times and Reykjavík only once. I think Hákarl is the Balut of Iceland and the locals would insist you try it. I did, several times to prove my manhood. Survival school 1 lesson, don’t crew, just swallow quick.
You name it, they’ve got 'em, The most common, and most inquisitive, but generally non- aggressive is the small reef shark. They rub up against you every now and then. The one that’s not aggressive at all but will scare the crap out of you if you don’t know it is the Big Eyed Thrasher. Gets up to 16 feet. Bulls and Gray reefs are very aggressive but not to common.
Swam 3.25k/2mile. Later in the day did a 2 mile run. Tried to sprint the last quarter mile but wasn’t exactly a burst of speed.
Escrima for 1 hour, sticks and knives. Heavy bag, hands and feet 30 minutes, speed bag 20 minutes.

Not sure why the post came out so screwed up. Sorry.
Was this all in one day??? For the record, I would be impressed even if it were separate days. Long swim followed by a run and then some very respectable lifting. Great job!
All this talk about 16 foot sharks is not helping me want to go swimming in the ocean.
PI had the world record salty in captivity, Lolong. 6.17m. Died back in 2013. The Thrasher doesn’t bother you just swims around knocking out fish with its huge tail and eating them.

Today, marathon vehicle maintenace day. Change the oil and filters on my riding Lawn Mower (Craftsman), Truck (Mazda) and wife’s Chevy. Got a couple dozen fresh eggs from a niece. White, Brown and green, She told me once which breed produced what colors but I forgot, They all taste good, Wife is the master of over easy eggs without breaking the yoke. Breakfast was 4 eggs, bacon, ham, sausage. Lots of coffee and tomato juice. Good day.
In full swing getting ready to leave for 7 months or so. Have to stay at least until 1 May for one of my great niece’s 7th birthday. 7th birthday is a Biggy in the Philippines. Had time yesterday for a 2 mi (3.21km) swim and a 3 mi (4.8km) run.
