Thanks, everyone’s safe and good and the house is back to normal. Didn’t re-hang anything on the walls before I left to go back to the PI. Letting the wife decide. Planning to hit the gym tomorrow so it’s gonna be an evaluation day to see where I stand.
Went on down to Cousin Mike’s gym. He was overjoyed to see me. “Damner! Tu es plus laid que lorsque tu as quitté cousin. Cafe?” (Damn you uglier than when you left cousin. Coffee?). After a good dose of caffeine started with the basic lifts randomly did different lifts. Worked up to the following sets. Didn’t want to go to hard so I’d be able to move the next couple of days.
Bench = 185 x 8
Press from rack = 135 x 6
overhead tri ext (rope) = 7 x 10
Hammer curls = 30 x 10
seated row = 150 x 8
Leg press =270 x 12
shrugs (barbell) = 225 x max
That’s it. Nothing to write home about. Gave me an idea of what I had to work with. Heading to the Natatorium tomorrow and the Dojang the next day. Weathers warming up so back to the river soon.
You’re too tough to kill.
Nice start!
Late to the party (as usual) but welcome back and congrats on the birthday milestone! That definitely sounded like a crazy 18 months! Glad you are back safely and getting back into the weight room (and the river soon). Good looking first session back!
Thanks man, much appreciated.
Yesterday 1000m freestyle at the Natatorium out to a 2k run.
Today first time back to the Dojang here. 3/4 hr kata, 15 min hvy bag. That was it. Gym tomorrow. Looking forward to getting back into a regular lifting routine again.

2K run, waded out into the river. Still a little to cold. Soon.
(Afternoon) Bar B Q at big brother number 1’s place.
That was it. Tomorrow gotta pick up some fence boards and do some repairs.
Great work over the weekend and finished with a BBQ. Nothing wrong with that! There is a wave out today and I’m thinking about going into the ocean for the first time since October. Water is still in the low 60’s but I would wear a wetsuit. We shall see…
Monday morning was loadin up a bunch of 4x4x8s, 2x4x8s, an a really big bunch of 5/8x6x6 dog eared boards and 80lb bags of Quikrete and haulin them all home. Afternoon Monday was spend tearing down old fencing and pulling up old cement bases. Tuesday set 10 posts in cement to dry.
Wed - 1hr swim at the natatorium, straight out to a 2k run.

Afternoon spend cutting and nailing up 2 x 4 between the poles.
Thursday night (right now) sippin Jamesons and puffin on a good stogie.
You have definitely stayed busy!
Your postings make folks believe you’re about 40.
Couldn’t agree more.
Excellent work this week. Plenty of real work, swimming and lifting. Hope you enjoyed the drink and stogie!
Yesterday (morning) - dojo- kata 1 hr, heavy bag 20 min, escrima stick forms 20 min. Nephew in law, Dojang owner/Sabumnim said my stick work, as far as he could tell, had really advanced. I blushed (not really). Afternoon - more fence work.
This Morning - Couldn’t help it. Hit the river. Not too cold, wore a suit and did an easy 1000m and out to a 2k run. Tennessee Senior Olympics contacted me to see if I wanted to compete this summer. Why do they temp me? Said no, well maybe. .
Sat night - Finished watching Svengoolie and slapped in Godzilla vs. Megalon, lit up a Padrón cigar and pour a couple fingers of Macallan Double Cask 12 Year Old Scotch. Hope to hit the weights tomorrow.
What’s your favorite cigar brand? I’ve become a Perdomo guy.
That is a good cigar. I feel in love with Nicaraguan cigars back in the late 80’s. We were using Soto Cano base in Honduras as a staging area and all the cigars from neighboring Nicaragua were easy to get and very cheap. Still have a box of El Baton Double Toro
I brought back, empty now of course. My favorite now are Cuban rounds which are made in Nicaragua. I’m always trying out new ones. While in the Philippines the La Tabacalera is the best around. Couple of local farmers still role cigars from their own crops and a few are pretty good, too.
Hit the gym early. Cousin Mike was already there with coffee on. After a cup hit the weights.

Felt good. Another cup of coffee. Home to eggs, bacon, sausage
Was out in the shed later in the day. I heard a very quiet whisper saying “you don’t love us anymore”. I looked around and found the source.
Might have to give them some love and go win those Olympics.
Looks like you picked right back up where you left off on the weight lifting. Great looking session! Looks like your old friends, the shot put and discus want to start hanging out again.
4/7 - Dojang very early. Figured I better do some Poomse as it’s been a long while. In the middle of number 4 the Sabom aka owner aka nephew-in- law, shows up, starts watching, starts making clicking sounds, starts shaking his head. Was still shaking it on the way to his office. Ended the session with 20 min heavy bag.
4/8 - Natatorium - 50 min swim, 2k run
4/9 - More yard work and fence maintenance.

Felt good. The 245 bench didn’t feel so much heavy as awkward. Gonna go low rep/heavy weight for a while. Figure in a month or so see what I can do.
4/11 - Last night was high winds and heavy rains. Woke to several very large branches in the yard and an uproot peach tree. Spent most of the day doing my best Elon Musk impersonation with my chainsaw (and without the money). All cut to manageable sections and stacked for the county when they come around. Time to go back to the PI and the typhoons and volcanos.
