Lyle McDonald's Ultimate Diet 2.0

No smile on my face today. I woke up very bloated and was holding alot of water. My stomach felt and still feels very weak and irritable. My power workout today was one of the worse training sessions I’ve had in a while. I missed all my 1rm attempts. 275bench, 375squat, 500dead… fail, fail, and fail. Felt weak and out of it in the gym. Overall, im just not happy with today at all.

that blows man. it happens.

I did my own lil carb up friday (very convenient on the 4th) and I felt great today, muscles felt hard,thin skin.
taking today and sunday off for training, starting the diet on monday.

I’m 12% after 7 weeks of SERIOUS dieting and looking to get to 8%. If I plateau is UD 2.0 the way to go? How do you guys think it compares to JB’s get Shredded diet?

I’ve never tried the get shredded diet, but I think it will all depend on the situation. I didn’t try the GSD because I was low carbing already and didn’t feel comfortable dropping my cals any more. I figured something with a cycle approach would have helped me more, so I went to the UD2. The GSD claims to drop at least .5% BF a week though, which is impressive if true.

Today is the start of week three for me. I didn’t like how I looked/felt after the 1st weeks carb up, I didn’t like how I looked/felt after the 2nd weeks carb up (I even made adjustments). My scale weight is stuck at 170 by the time thursday comes around (scale weight means next to zilch though). Im going to give this diet a third week and see what happens.

day 1 for me. nutrition was easy, since it is almost what i’ve been doing for the last month.
however, the workout was a bitch. I couldn’t believe how hard this was. I was gasping for air the entire time. I’m already looking foward to the carb-up,haha.

Let me begin by saying I FUCKED UP BIG TIME TODAY. I don’t have an explanation to why, but I binged for almost the entire day. I woke up, had my shake for breakfast, then all hell broke lose.

what I ate today:
2 Large 3 topping Domino’s Pizzas
4 bags microwave popcorn
1 large container of breyers vanilla/choc ice cream
2 packages of pillsbury cookies
2 packages chips ahoy cookies.
Chicken parm with spaghetti dinner
3 bowls of oatmeal with 1 Metabolic Drive scoop in each (I love oatmeal).

My scale weight says 192. Over 20 lbs gained today. damn… I feel bloated. I don’t feel that guilty for some reason. You cant tell by the pic, but this is me now flexing my mid section.

Holy fuck! 20lbs in a day. That’s awesome. Looking pumped man.

Will be interesting to see what happens to bodyfat in the days after this binge.

My man you will be fine, give it a week off the carbs and you’ll dry out again. Your just bloated and your body probably isn’t used to holding all that water. I recently ate alot of carbs for like a 5 day period and my fucking feet were swollen lol!. But now I’ve cut them back out to where I normally am and I’m drying out as expected. I imagine you probably sweat all night sleeping after all those carbs too.

You’ll be fine, I’ve gained 20lbs in a couple days before. Just alot of food volume int he stomach and ALOT of body water.

Keep plugging away, your looking solid as hell.

lol, my feet are swollen too. Everything is just bloated with alot of water retention. Im back on track today (so far) and expect to be back to where I was by next monday. Walking hurts my lower back today, lol. I’ll still keep up with the updates.

damn elusive, lookin good. How much were you eating to build that muscle?

My last mass phase was in Jan/Feb of this year. I was eating around 3,600cals on training days, mostly lean proteins and complex carbs. Closer to 3,000cals on off days. My first real mass phase (last summer) I was eating about 4,200 cals, but I was doing twice daily workouts. I plan on doing something similar come September/October.

I am in absolute awe at the amount of food you put down. Ever thought about a career in competitive eating?

Lol. No I haven’t. It would have to pay really well for me to consider, or Biotest would have to come out with a 10x more effective HOT-ROX.
