LWI: Lifting With Inky

Damn man that’s a hell of a session right there. Two sumo PR’s back to back? That’s what I’m talking about!

You switching up to sumo now for you next comp or just trying a little something different for now? 205 huh? You’re gonna pass me up here soon… I’ve gotta gve that shake a try though. I loves me some ice cream

Kickin’ ass on the sumo pulls! nice!

Yeah I just just checked my old vids, and I’ve hit a 365 sumo DL with reverse strong bands, and a 315 sumo from the floor, and a high 365 sumo rack pull. Basically, a 30# pr, and then another 20#pr on top of that in the same session. Not switching to sumo for meets (yet/if ever), but just switching it up for variety.

The shake is the shit! 2c whole milk, 2 scoops chocolate MD, 1/2c Girl Scout Samoas ice cream, shake and dominate!

Yeah, I’m catching up to you, but if we were to have the same bf%, I’d weigh about 20-25lbs less :frowning:

Thanks man, they weren’t the most beautiful pulls of my life, but they weren’t horrendous either. Definitely kicked my ass though!

Way to do work on those sumo pulls. Nice man!

Shiz nice pulling! Have you just started pulling sumo to switch things up? I may consider giving them try for kicks.

I wanted to throw it in as a main exercise in my new rotation, since I’m doing the conjugate method. I’ve done it a little in the past, and I like the lift (not more than conventional, it’s really a whole different lift to me) so I’ll do it more “regularly” now. I’ve heard that Westside likes to train with the opposite lift you use for meets, since they seem to help eachother out.

Try them out, just remember to keep your back upright, start with driving your hips forward, and explode through lockout.

P.S.

My lower back is SMOKED right now. Fuck! I’m surprised my calves aren’t on fire yet…

I will most certainly give 'em a shot.

Cool new pic Inky.

I like the improvisation with the weighted dips.

Wonder what else you could chain to self…I vote for a chainsaw next.

I like the chainsaw idea, but he’d have to strap on at least 6 to make it somewhat challenging. And I think the chainsaws should be lit on fire.

Fire would be good, but an aquarium full or piranha would be better.

that avi is fucking badass dude

you’re like a weight lifting Maguiver or somethin! (is that how you spell maguiver? idk)

Making good progress man!

New avi is hot!! Me likey

Sumo = Win

Sumo PRs = DOUBLE win!

How about an aquarium full of piranhas AND electric eels. With the addition of a layer of oil on top which will be lit on fire.

Ok ok, dips over a flaming pool of piranhas while juggling chainsaw and fighting a bull. I’ll work on that.

Thanks Trav, I try to make due with what I got around me, JUST LIKE MACGYVER!

Kalle, thanks man, and thanks for stoppin in

Masch, thank you, and I agree that PR’s = winning!

DE Upper @ La Casa de Ink

Ct Rock’s suggested warmup (With 95#s)
Snatch Grip High Pull x 6
Clean Grip HP x 6
BB Row x 6
*Felt good, woke my upper back up, which is good.

DE Bench
Bar x a lot
95 x 3 x 3 (3 grips, s/s with about 10 sec rest between sets)
115 x 3 x 3 (Same)
135 x 3 x 4 (Same, but with 2 sets at a wide grip)
*All done very fast, explosive, and controlled. Vid to follow

Louie Simmons’ “Special Tricep Exercise” that I saw in a newsletter I get
Bar x 12 x 4sets
Almost like a JM press/modified skull(neck) crusher

BB Rows
135 x 8
165 x 8
185 x 8 (Loose form)

Rack Chins (Done on my bench, bar up high and feet over the preacher attachment, pretty effective actually)
OH Grip Med/Wide/Close x 8/6/4
UH Grip Med/Wide/Close x 6/6/4

Dips
BW x 5 x 2 (Wasn’t feeling it, elbows were beat from pressing)

Overhead Plate Extension
45 x 15 x 3

Notes: Wanted to focus more on triceps last night. I realized that my bench press was stronger when I did more tricep volume; so instead of just pressing and hitting 1 accessory pressing movement, I’m going to try and grow some tricep mass and that should help me bench over 9000.

My wife is wanting to try the Eat Clean Diet, Stripped version, which is a condensed month long program. It’s got workouts in it as well, and she asked if I was going to do it too (just the eating). I agreed (after she said “You’ve got fat you want to lose!” and I said “WHAT? I’m a powerlifter, what do I care?!” haha, totally joking, but I’ll be cleaning up the diet a bit more with the exception of eating high cals PWO. Oh, and speaking of cals, last night I had another one of my tasty shakes with only 1/4C ice cream, and I calculated it out to 61g or protein. Winning!

Calves are a bit sore today, lower back is still smoked so I’ll rest today, and ME lower tomorrow.

Wow what a winning shake. Speaking of upping your bench to like 230740981 pounds, have you done much floor pressing?

awesome on the fan-fuckin-tastic sumo PR!!!

and love the family pic - really cute

I have been on the Frenchie style diet since my comp March 5th.
healthy breakfast
healthy lunch
snack on whatever as long as it includes protein
what ever I feel like for supper (post workout) as long as it includes protein and maybe some veg. Usually accompanied by liquor.

I have only gained 2 pounds in 6 weeks. I still can’t wrap my head around it.

LWI and eat like ya mean it.

Aqua, I LOVE floor pressing, I do it often actually. It’ll be one of my Max Effort upper exercises in the coming weeks, I love them. And yeah, that shake is the shit!

Main, nice diet  Really though, I think I could pretty much ewat anything PWO and be solid. Trouble with that is, is I don’t usually lift until after dinner, so I gotta keep it clean then or my workout goes to shit (if I do it at all) You’ve gained a couple of pounds of MUSCLE! That’s what it is
