LWI: Lifting With Inky

Yeah baby!! Nice job on that DL, Ink! You’re a maniac. That’s a ton of plates, bro! Looked awesome.

Hilarious re: your protoge’ - he’s a lucky kid to have you show him the ropes. I wish I had someone minding me when I just started. Could’ve saved me a lot of “trial and error” time.

LWI, chuli!

Thanks Aqua, I can’t wait until I can hit a 315 without any bands helping me. I’ll get there, and more.

Thanks Masch, I try to be as awesome as I can, haha. This kid is like a sponge, and he feeds off everything I say. It’s pretty funny actually. I think he can really make some gains quickly, because he seems to know what needs to be done. He asked me “how come nobody in here is ever squatting or deadlifting?” I think I felt a small tear well up in my eyes “Well Grasshoppah, nobody does that because it’s hard, everyone’s scared” He truly didn’t understand why everyone wasn’t squatting. Fresh meat, I’ll train him up right.

Greg, I noticed it after the 405 lift, it fell over, so I thought it’d be sweet to just let it fall over each time. You know, for more badass-ness and what not.

hahaha nice! That happened to me after one of my jumping videos where I was trying to dunk. I had my phone resting on the crash pad against the wall and I was trying to dunk but kept missing. I got frustrated after my last attempt and threw the ball at the wall. The impact knocked my phone over and it fell off from a little over head height. I thought I broke my phone cause I was being an idiot lol.

hahahah I LOLed at “grasshoppah”! Thats awesome man. You gotta train him up in the ways of real lifting. I was at the gym yesterday and happened to be riding the bike to warm up my legs a bit and I actually just looked around the gym. I was AMAZED at how many people were in there completely wasting their time. So many BS exercises happening that it was incredible. I’m glad you wont let that newbie become one of “THEM” dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnn

Greg, re: wasting time, this kid said just that. He said that he see’s so many people in their wasting time, doing curls and what not. I said I know man, like that guy points to dude with big arms now see him? His arms are big, sure, but check his traps…they’re about as thick as a sliced porkchop, so you KNOW he doesn’t do any heavy back work.

I think I’ll adopt this kid. That or become his “Big Brother” like that organization that lets people hang out with underpriveliged kids and what not. LOL

Maybe I can get him to join up and start a log here.

So I’ve been looking into the food that we’ll be eating in Africa, and it seems like their is going to be a LOT of meat eating. Fucking excellent. I wonder how much I can gain over 10 days in the bush (haha).

Kudu filet
Impala tenderloin
Warthog ribs perhaps? Shit…this is going to be unreal.

I’ll give a little recap of everything here, with some pics, but I’ll have a thread on a hunting forum with a full write-up and stuff, for anyone interested.

Man, my low back’s still toasty from DL’s the other day. Should make for an interesting DE Lower training session tonight.

Ink that is awesome training the newbie.

Storm calls them landmine side bends.

THAT’S what they’re called. Probably because each rep is like an explosion of death. They’re awesome.

Thanks man

meatmeatmeatmeat. jealous. it’s funny, I’m sitting in my campus cafe and some PETA-freak just walked by asking me to sign something. Just gave him a “are-you-shitting-me?” look and resumed my work.

Haha. “Do I LOOK like I give a fuck?”

Please Eat The Animals! PETA

Nice reverse band pressing ink!
It’s awesome that you’re taking that kid under your wing as well. Sounds like he’s about where I started. You just gotta get him hooked, and introducing him to this site wouldn’t hurt (though honestly I’d just tell him to avoid the articles for the first while, the information overload/contradictions is crazy). Is he on any sort of program?

Jealous of your africa trip. Expecting lots of pictures. And for you to actually use that mufasa’s revenge bullet on a wildebeast. haha.

Thanks Blaze, I won’t lead him astray! He’s not on any program other than going to the gym and squatting for legs, and then a chest day, back/bi day. With a little “structure” he could blow up.

Dude, I’ll use the mufasa’s revenge rounds for wildebeest, and I am writing “Hakuna Matata” on my ones designated for warthog. HAHAHA

one more week or something like that, eh??

-awesome!!

Ground rattling weights at the commercial gym? Winning.
Thanks Major. I guess I could have tried setting the weight down softer, but fuck it. Shit, 500 WILL be awesome, when I get there. I’ll just keep plugging away, and see how fast it comes. Any bets?
End of 2011 for sure. Before then? Possibly. Let’s see it ink!

Jealous of all the exotic meat eating you will enjoy. Request for food log detailing what warthog and wildebeest taste like, kthx.

You think? Like, really think I could hit 500 before 2011 comes to a close? Fuck, that would be awesomesauce.

I’m telling you guys, I’m going to have the most detailed report ever upon my return. Anyone want any specifics (such as tastes of warthog and wildebeest, Major) let me know. I want to have a hunting report to end all hunting reports! I’ll keep a solid food log, pics of everything, and just assume that daily protein will be OVER 9000 grams
inkaddict wrote:

I got up to a 450 pull, lifting on my own with no real plan or program, while I was around 210-215lbs. And that took a while. I got up to 500 after only like 4-5 months lifting on the conjugate method at my current gym.

Seeing as how you have a better program, a bit of experience and the help of TNation, I definitely think it could happen. Of course, life, work, injuries etc. could get in the way. But it seems like you got the determination. Go for the 5 hundo!

Damn ink. Nice pulls man! You’ve got me by 10lbs on dead now. Race to 495? Haha.
You’re on man. I was racing Racer377, but that bastard shot up to like, 485 in a matter of seconds it seems like, and I’m way behind.

After last night’s performance, I’m expecting to pull AT LEAST a 450 at my next meet (End of July/early August). And we’ll see how squats come along, over 315 would be fucking bad ass there. And if I can work my bench properly on meet day, I’ll smash a 1000 total. 1100 even. Yeah, a 185# meet PR in 4 months wouldn’t be too bad, would it?

LWI
Nice on the 425! It came up pretty quick, I bet you got more in ya.

FWIW, I’m only at 478, haven’t been able to nail 485 just yet. And I’ve been slacking, so you got time. I think I’m gonna switch to a Westside DE/ME conjugate method type plan starting this week, we’ll see how that works. I was kinda doing that for DLs anyway, seemed like pulling heavy every week really worked well for me.

Super detailed report required.

And yeah, if you make it your driving obsession, you will get it. Its how I first got 500, mind you with no plan, and its how I got 600. Get it son.

Major, well shit man, I’ll try my best and go for the 5hundo for sure!

Racer, haha, 478 is close enough man. Interested to see how Westside works for you, I’m loving it so far

Weekend training

Actually got in a session Saturday and Sunday, missed Friday night so it pushed my DE Lower to Saturday, then DE Upper yesterday, and to be back on track I need to hit an ME lower session tonight, but shit I’m soooore, so I don’t know about that yet. Got a chance to use my new mini bands from EFS, so they got a lot of use

5/21 DE Lower
Box Squat w/doubled mini’s

Bar x 10 x 2
135 x 2 x 3
145 x 2 x 5

Band DL’s (doubled mini’s rigged up on the squat rack)
225 x 1 x 4

275 x 0 x 2

Leg press (Doubled mini’s again)
1pps x 12
2pps x 12
3pps x 12
Then drop set from 3-1, 12 reps each. Hold shit this burned bad!

45 deg back extension
+25 x 15 x 2

5/22 DE Upper

Band bench (Yep, doubled mini’s)
Bar x some
95 x 3 x 2
105 x 3 x 1
135 x 3 x 3
155 x 3 x 2
*Noticed a difference in these over the monster mini’s: The tension seems about the same, but since their’s more material, it felt more solid, if that makes sense. Felt good.

Ct’s upper back complex thing, I’ll call it “Devil’s Triangle” (Catchy, right?!)
95 x 6 reps each exercise (snatch grip high pull/clean grip high pull/bb row)
115 x 6/5pause1/6
135 x 4/1/6 <—fuck that. Too heavy, needed straps, still couldn’t finish it

Dips
BW x 15 x 3

EZ Bar French Press
65 x 15
75 x 12

Done. Ass and hamstring tie-in (I call the “Ass knuckle”) is stupid sore today. Tri’s a little sore, but good. Hope to get some squats in tonight, but we’ll see.

I leave for Africa 1 week from tomorrow. Pretty much have everything I need. Going to shoot 1 more time before we leave, make sure I’m still “on” and what not, super freakin pumped. Can’t wait.

LWI

Africa sounds like a dream - lucky bitch

Just saw your band set up for the deads and now I want some - that’s the rack I have at my gym which makes band work limited… I will look into it now, if only to look cool, ya know like a realz powerlifter

I was looking around the gym trying to figure out away to set them up other than lugging the DB’s around, and it dawned on me to use the squat rack. I just had to figure out how to secure it to the rack without the band sliding up to post (behind me), so you just loop it underneath/through the bottom section, and pull both ends over the bar and onto the plate holder. The bar sets of the pins but it’s right at floor level. Worked perfectly.

Africa will be amazing, hate all you want
