Luka's Anabolic Diet Log-Bulking

Hi everyone!

I really appologize for opening another post about Anabolic diet, but i wanted to keep a proper log about my progress. I’ll write here everything related to AD.

I started bulking on Anabolic diet 6 days ago. According to Dr D’s book i’m supposed to have 5200 cal (25x desired body weight). I know, its enormous amount of food, thats why its gonna be interesting to see what happens to my body and i wanna log everything here.

I think its going great so far. This morn i was 81.6 kg, 2.7 kg heavier than only 6 days ago when i started bulking. I checked my skinfolds yesterday-abdominal skinfold went up only 1mm, whereas my calves, quads and arms got leaner. Amazing results i reckon, it seems that most of the weight i put on is muscle.

Another wierd thing is that sabscapula went up, which is odd coz its an insulin sensitivity spot (according to Poliquin), and i havent been eating carbs on this diet apart from saturdays (carb up day). This gives me another reason to trust Poliquin less.

Third, a day after carb up (carb up was only 3 days ago), i weighed less then day before carb up (it usually happens opposit to that). And only three days after carb up (today), i weigh almost 3 kg more.

I’ll post some pics soon, i think i already look bigger, my abbs do look smoother though.

Just to express my concern that i might be putting too much fat on. My abbs are much less visible, but i put only 2 kg on, i dont know. Should i stop bulking? Any ideas?

Have u done ad before? Im just wories about Dr Mauro’s formula for bulking that gives really high calories (25x your desire bw). I was doing 5200cal for a week, and then from about a week ago i dropped cals to 4200. At 5200 i thought hiw i was gaining too fast, although as soon as i got to 4200 my weight dropped, so prob most of it was water.

I’ll adjust cals so that i gain 1lb a week. In a month i should be 4 lbs heavier, and i’ll check my bf to see how much of it was muscle and how much was fat. If im gaining too much fat i’ll decrease cals. Hopefully this plan works for me.

Whenever i tried bulking before i put too much fat on and almost no muscle on. I really hope this diet gives better results and helps me finally put some muscle on.

Its been a week on 4200cal, and my weight seems to stay pretty much the same, or 100g more. Should i upp the cals to 4700?

I gained some weight since i started bulking on ad (maybe like 1-2kg) but i think most of it, if not all is fat, coz i cant see my lowest 2 abbs anymore. I feel im getting stronger in the gym tho, maybe i should contribute that to 5/3/1…

If you’re getting stronger that’s a good sign what you’re doing is working. Have your caliper measurements gone up? That’s the only reliable way to tell if you’re putting on muscle or fat man. And bumping it up to 4500 would be enough

My weight flactuates a lot. Today i was 300g heavier than the same day last week. I think the reason for such flactuations is carb loading days. Anyways, this is my weight for the whole last week and mon and tuesday this week:

Tue 79.4;79.7
Wed 79.0
Thu 79.3
Fri 79.6
Sat 78.7
Sun 80.0

Yeah it looks like its going up, in diets like these where you refeed its good to just take the average of all the weights of the week and compare it to the next.

In Body Opus he recommends going a few weeks of carb free first, without the refeeds that you can include later on. But I guess you’re just jumping feet first into the diet.

When bulking on AD it takes a bit of expirimentation also know that you will lay on a few 1%'s of fat but for the muscle gain its worth it. I would expect 1% per month if at 25xBW… If you want a leaner bulk try 20x BW with 1 carb day. Or just run 500 cals more then TDEE If mass is really your goal 2 carb days is best. I’ve done the 5/3/1 on the AD bulk its brutal without 2 day carb ups for me I also add the mid week carb spike.

5/3/1 will really push you and I think becuase of the heavy weights and the hormone effect of the AD it really helps pack on size. Personally I wouldnt run AD bulk in the summer becuase it sound like you guys want to be model thin and have your best abs. I dont blame ya, but maybe you should save the bulking for when your not shirtless so much…Just sayin
