About five years ago my GP became quite concerned that I had a spike on my PSA numbers. I jumped from 4 to 13. I ended up staring at a urologist who did the poking around my prostate exam, taking tissue samples, and found no tumorous issues. Then they did the DNA test and found I was 0 out of a 100 for prostate cancer markers. Lucky me.
I did have a big prostate though, and after asking he let me know you do not brag to the ladies about big prostates. I went in and had my prostate reduced. Boy could I wee better. My PSA dropped back to 5 I believe.
I also have very low testosterone. But because of my occasional prostate spikes my GP decided TRT was probably a bad option. On top of that my kidney function hovers about just above normal. Having only a kidney (birth defect caudal regression syndrome) creatine has been shelved. Along with ibuprofen and aspirin. I still take an ibuprofen once in a great while, but rarely.
So, I have been strength training and building some muscle, but still low on the T.
More recently on an impulse buy, I started DHEA. I did not pay much attention at first, but I have noticed I am able to increase my workout volume. I suddenly find soccer moms attractive again, and my muscle tonus has improved. As well as my arms filling out the sleeves of my shirts. I even wondered why my memory was improving. The improvements seem to coincide with starting the DHEA, but it was not an immediate result.
I take DHEA for two weeks, then a week off. That was suggested by a chap I know on another site. I have noticed some people who take DHEA do not cycle it, but just take it daily.
So, what are the results of others here who might take DHEA. I have obviously found it useful, but the information I found on cycling was close to 25 years old, and that study was using results from studies ten years previous to that.
To cycle? or just a dose a day? I am up for another PSA test, so I need to see what those numbers indicate as well.
