I have had symptoms for a few years. Been tested twice. Once was 7.4 and the last time was 6.2 - two months apart. My doctor is a functional medicine doctor who specializes in Thyroid and autoimmune conditions (i have hashimotos). He admits he does not know a ton about hormone replacement therapy but will look into any research that I find that I would like to use to get back into a healthy range.
Was thinking of 150 test split into twice a week with some hcg and a ai as my estrone came in at 86.
Feedback, thoughts, suggestions?
Additionally, I’ve already modded my diet as much as I could with my auto immune diease and started lifting heavy again to no change (further drop). I prioritize sleep as well and live a pretty low stress life.
Is this a free testosterone measurement? Are the ranges something like 10-25? If so, trt is probably in your future. Don’t expect it to solve all your problems, but overall health and body composition would probably improve. Don’t have your protocol based on the dose, go by feel, and blood work. Some guys get great numbers with a little and some guys need a lot to get these numbers and feel good. 150 mg/wk is a good starting point though imo.
I would start TRT in isolation if I were you, TRT, HCG and AI’s is a red flag your doctor isn’t well versed in TRT unless fertility is a concern. My estrogen is high on TRT, right now it’s 96 and believe I’ve always had high estrogen even while natural. I really don’t feel any difference between 30 or 90 estrogen level.
So the AI might be a mistake, the HCG may not make you feel to well.
Make sure you keep an eye on your thyroid if starting TRT. I have Hashimoto’s as well and require a lot more thyroid medication on TRT. I went from 125mcg to 175mcg levothyroxine.
Right now I am on low dose naltrexone for hashi and am responding well to it. I’ll def keep an eye on this. What were your symptoms that made you increase your levo?
No symptoms per se. my routine blood check that normally gives me a close to 1.0 TSH was around 17 after about 6 months on TRT. I had to keep increasing the thyroid dose to get it back into range.
17?! That’s fucking insane. Mine is 1.9 rn. Haven’t checked since getting on low dose naltrexone. LDN has been a fucking game changer though. If you’re not on it you should research it a bit.
It is prescribed by my functional medicine doctor. He’s great and has saved me and a few others from horrible autoimmune symptoms with LDN (low dose naltrexone)
