Low Carb Question for Guys with Kids

I’ve done the paleo and anabolic diets before and have been low carb for the better part of 2 years. My question is what do you guys with kids do to have family dinners? It seems like the kids eat things like tacos, spagetti, caseroles you know basic family meals… Do you guys with kids just eat different meals or just stay zero carb through the day so dinner is no big deal… Just askin becuase my wife always bitches becuase I eat seperatley…

Why feed kids tacos and spaghetti?

Kids can eat Paleo too, though I would be sure they’re eating a variety of produce.

Right there with ya man. My wife is constantly complaining about that I eat differently than her and the kids (and mine are young, so it’s harder gettign them to eat the vegetables right now.) I may have it a bit easiler than you describe because we eat meat or fish with most meals and I usually just skip the rice / potatoes and eat the vegetables or I make a seperate salad. Here and there though, I simply have no choice and I simply try to limit what I eat of it. My kids love pasta too. Best of luck to you.

If you are taking the time to shop and cook for yourself why not include the rest of the family on it?

Good points guys  I usually just let my wife do al the shopping not sexist or anything it just tends to go down like that…
Its kinda weird at the table but I think a more planned out meal where food isnt mixed is the best way to go…But when I dont eat the caserole sometimes its my ass… Especially if kids wont eat it either… They kind of follow what I do… My 13yr old always complains becuase when I cook its a grilled meat, vegies, and I give the kids multi G bread… I tried introducing them to Paleo/AD meals like dinner omelettes and Meatza but they never liked it

you could try carb back loading a la John Kiefer. That’d give you a bit more leeway in terms of your dinner choices.

That’s basically what I do. I don’t have kids but it means I can eat pretty much whatever I like (within reason) with my fiancee in the evening

That’s what I was going to recommend. I’m Celiac, so I can’t have the spaghetti my wife makes for the baby, but I’m already the house weirdo, so the CBL template is just the latest irritation for my wife.

I just stay disciplined and eat for whatever my goal is at the time. Most of the time I’m doing an AD type diet to either cut or stay lean.
I do the food shopping which is pretty comical because it is for four different types of people. My “bodybuilding type foods and diet”, my kids food, my wifes’ “eat anything she wants and still stays very lean” type of food, and for my mother in law who spends alot of time at our house watching the kids and eats basically crap lol and is remarkbly strong and healthy as a horse.
But like some of the other guys, when I want to relax the reigns a bit and enjoy comfort food style dinners with the family I’ll follow CBL.
