No i noticed that he says it with GSP…
but take an explosive white guy thats from the midwest and he always has “farm strength”
Rogan is THE worst commentator in sports today. He’s a total ass clown.
I don’t think Rogan is bad at all. He’s grown on me a lot. For the tight leash Zuffa puts on guys he does a decent enough job, and most importantly he actually understands submission grappling which is the hardest part for most people to grasp.
Bill Goldberg is without a doubt the worst commentator…not even close. I can’t look at youtube right now but someone posted a compilation of his f-up’s that is hilarious. His interview with Phil Baroni where Baroni pulls down his shorts and whips out his dong to show Goldberg his torn groin is one of the most classic moments in sports interviews I have ever seen.[/quote]
Goldie also does the Red Bull flying stunt airplane commentary. It’s fun to listen him talk about the pilot imposing his will on the plane.
Whoa relax race baiters. It’s one thing when GSP gets described as explosive or jamie varner…I really can’t think of any other non black fighters described that way.
But I’ve never heard one black fighter get described as anything other than explosive and athletic. Even Yves Edwards, technical as fuck they described how “athletic” he is before getting into the fact that he’s rather technical.
I never said that white fighters don’t get described as such. But EVERY black fighter does. Regardless of other abilities. Only one who doesn’t really is Anderson Silva.
Rogan could be far far worse.
I really like kenflo commentating, him plus rogan, and i dunno someone funny would be good. (rogan’s standup is great but we need some kinda comic relief)
I think Todd Harris and Frank Mir are the best thing going right now. The WEC shows are great with them in the booth. It’s also humorous seeing Mir interview the 135 and 145 guys, it looks like a scene in Gulliver’s Travels.
Rogan’s commentating isn’t bad at all, I just wish someone would tell him “Hey buddy, you’ve got a microphone. No need to shout.”

I thought Kenny was boring as hell as a commentator. Probably because he was just a little wet behind the ears with the commentating business. Also, because unless you’re Joe Rogan and can yak constantly, it forces the infantile Goldberg to insert more “two minutes and forty-six seconds left in the second round”, and “Thiago throws a leg kick” and “Starnes doesn’t seem to be working very hard does he Kenny?”
I almost turned my speakers off for the last one because I’m pretty sure I get dumber every time Goldie speaks.
And yes, Goldie sucks bad enough that he deserves it.

Does Rampage get the “explosive” treatment too, because I don’t remember hearing it. My guess is they call the other guys “explosive” to build them up and they can’t think of anything else to say.

ALLLLLLLLLLLLLL the time especially before the Chuck fight when they were showing his clips from pride. If you watch the pride broadcasts on FSN thats how he’s described a lot as well.
His slam of ricardo arona is often what they point to.
Now keep in mind this is because he IS explosive like i believe Cali Law pointed out. But they can’t speak of anything else?
How about his stellar wrestling which countered fucking KEVIN RANDLEMAN. Or his excellent use of boxing and his technical proficiency. Nope no mention of that he’s just “explosive and athletic!”
Nothing wrong with it, its just a funny coincidence.
Even kevin randleman amazing wrestler, could have been the next cael sanderson is just described as explosive a lot of the time.
The explanation is he has great takedowns because he’s so explosive and athletic!
uh… maybe it could be because he’s wrestled since he was like 10?
again, its just a funny coincidence
A classic fight for the whole athletic comments was GSP and Josh Koshchek. I remember goldy saying that they were: “two of the most athletic individuals in the UFC” (obviously paraphrased)
