Louisiana To Privatize Public Schools

So no one wants to talk about this after the comments made by Valarie Hodges?

Question: Do you still want this to happen now that radical islamic schools are popping up?

Yep.

"…with the state preparing to shift tens of millions in tax dollars out of the public schools to pay private industry, businesses owners and church pastors to educate children. "

This part confuses me. If the government is shifting funds from the public education sector to the private education sector, how is it still private?

Am I miss-reading this?

Parents are given a voucher that can be applied to tuition at private schools.

Umm… the scientific method was developed over thousands of years beginning in ancient Greece. Think Aristotle.

Christianity was not responsible for modern science.
Except that without the catholic church we would know nothing about Aristotle.
The knowledge, the texts, and the language itself has been preserved by catholics monks and would have been lost without them.
Actually, all this knowledge was almost forgotten circa 800 CE.
The Church saved it, inherited it and expanded on it.

You (and I) can think whatever you want about the Catholic Church, the above is still an historical fact.

I really liked how they burned Bruno at the stake for having the gall to disagree with their “science”.

So?

So what ?
Bruno hasn’t been executed for having the gall to disagree with their science, but for being a quite vocal neopythagorean magus who had too much protestant friends (and wealthy patrons).

Yeah well, a lot of people killed a lot of people without laying the groundwork for modern science and building the university system from the ground up.

If we turned our backs on all institutions that have killed anyone for shitty reasons we would live in an intellectual wasteland.

It always makes me suspicious when a state with a long history of opposition to desegregating public schools suddenly wants to start meddling in the public school system to the point of virtually eliminating it.
Yeah, that is a completely sane and logical way of looking at this.
