I won bingo once and the prize was $100, but I didn’t call it out because my gf told me you had to fill in EVERY square on every ticket.
We thought each page was one huge ticket, but in fact each page contained 4 tickets - and I’d already filled one up which was considered a “Full House” and would have won the prize!
I was shattered afterwards when I realized I could have won. It would have been the first thing I’ve won in my entire life.
My family knew a couple who won about 4 million dollars by playing lottery. The wife worked with my mother. Long story short…the constant harassment she was subjected to forced her to move. Apparently there is an entire subculture of people who descend upon lottery winners with hard luck stories. This couple was targeted perhaps more than others because they had a long history of charitable work in the community.
People were showing up literally 24 hours a day, knocking on doors and windows, leaving notes under her windshield wiper, harassing her kids (“please tell our story to your parents, here’s our phone number”) and even calling her at work. This is in Canada where health care is free, so its not like these requests were “pay for cancer treatment”. Most of them were business start-up loans and that kind of thing.
She expected that this would die down after a month or two, but it didn’t. 6 months later, she quit her job, severed her ties to the community and moved across the country.
A family I was friends with back in 5th grade won powerball for a few million. And then about 6mo later all the winners for the year were put into a drawing for a massive amount…and they won that too.
They soon moved out of my small little town oddly enough.

Let me guess…the undeserving people all bad-mouth(ed) her when she did move, huh?
It’s one thing giving friends and family something if you win a lottery, but no one is entitled to that money except the person(s) that won it. This notion people have of, “Oh, please give me some you have so much, don’t be selfish.” is absolutely absurd.

I would imagine so. “Heartless bitch, wouldn’t give a total stranger 50,000 to open up a bagel franchise. She forgot her roots”.
There’s an old couple that plays cards with my grandparents that has won the jackpot four times in the past ten years. They have no children, and they live very conservatively. They just stored the money away and probably forgot about it. What’s really great is that they still drive a cheap 70’s p.o.s. lincoln. This lady always talks about how there is a system to winning, but she won’t explain it to anyone. Needless to say I’m trying to get on her good side.

There is a system, but you still have to be lucky and hit the right numbers.
Right when I turned 18 I went on a little scratch off spree. I probably bought one or two at least every other day for a month.
Needless to say the most I ever won was like 5 bucks. Overall I’d say I’m ahead about 2 dollars so at least I’m in the black!
As far as people asking you for money I can see that would be a huge issue. Old family friends and “relatives” coming out of the wood work for their slice.
I worked for a sleaze bag who made a deal with me that if he won it big He’d give me a million but I had to promise I would give him a million if I won it big also.
I just know that if I ever actually won anything this guy would hunt me to the ends of the earth to remind me of our deal.

I completely agree. Just curious, how do you vote? How did you vote?
I found a bag full of scratch tickets in a rental car once, grand total $43,000, but the tickets where all from the 1980’s and early 90’s and I couldn’t cash them in.
I won $3 once, went out and bought a new protein shaker, EPIC day.

I guess she figured out the system before she even played. Maybe she knows some people that know some people that showed her the system. idk. lol. She has played the same numbers for fifteen years also. Pretty cool that she can hit the jackpot with the same numbers that many times.

Well since I’m a South African immigrant in the UK I can’t vote, and haven’t had the chance in SA. Not that voting in SA would make a difference.

It’s actually quite a simple theory; you pick a group of numbers and from there you spread them across a certain amount of tickets, but it’s all done to some formula which mean if the numbers hit, then depending on what kind of spread you chose you will have a guaranteed win; for example, you can have 12 sets of 3 numbers, 2 sets of 5, and 1 of 6 (jackpot) - it depends which method you choose.
