^shit!..I almost want to say sorry but I’m from Calgary originally and even though its population dwarfs the Sault the air was cleaner out west. Sault Ste. Marie has over “1,800 exceedances in particle matter in out air”
So … sorry to hear about the asthma. I wounder if someone could sue the gov’ment eh?

Lots of people from Ontario on this site from day 1. Lots of lurkers too.
We just need better gyms than the Goodlifes/Premiers/Extreme spas that are taking over everything
The best gym I’ve ever been at is the Track and Field centre at York University. Awesomely cheap, lot of track athletes(duh) and the weight room is just badass.
Also, the North York YMCA is pretty kickass. They don’t allow chalk though, but that’s the only downside I’ve found so far.
I use to train at the North York YMCA, was doing Rack pulls once and a personal trainer came over and told me the noise was scaring the elderly.

Dude, I think I know you. If you remember a kid who worked there a few months ago in the winter, that was me.
Haha, yeah I remember you, I train at Goodlife now.

yeah actually for the most part i dont have trouble with Goodlife itself. I just dislike the trainers my gym happens to hire… and a lot of the people who happen to go there…
I detest the GoodLife here. I suppose I shouldnt judge them all by the one in the Sault. They have kettle bells but wont let you use them until you pay for a course on how to use them…seriously.
yeah i’m sure they’re all different enough. i can get my workouts done without being bothered. also i get a discount through work sooo…

I have a garage gym now but trained at the Goodlife in Burlington and on Upper James in Hamilton. Both were fine. I met a number of people that were pretty good for a laugh.

From Mississauga here. The Fitness 365 at 401/dixon is the most serious gym in the area I’ve been able to find. Anyone else here training there?
I’m in Milton and don’t want to be working out at premier fitnnes… 401 and dixon? Im just familiar with Hurontario and Mavis… close by?

Not more than 5 minutes by highway without traffic, farther east of mavis. On the 401 it goes (West to East) Mavis, Hurontario, Dixie, 427 ramp, Eglington, then 1km past that is Dixon. I know of a few bodybuilders training there, including one guy that’s 295 right now(offseason) going for his pro card this year I believe. Told me he comes in at around 255 on stage.
If you’re in Milton I’ve heard of a more hardcore crossfit affiliate gym in Milton that allows anything, and they have all sorts of strongman implements as well I think. Just googled it, it’s called FirePower Training. It’s way more expensive than a regular gym though, about $125/month.

That gym is great, except for the huge number of brotards that populate it, and the fact that they NEVER put the weights back where they got them from.

You must be coming in at the wrong time. It’s almost always empty when I go, except of course for the sprinters who never really touch the weights. The most people in the weight room I’ve seen would not go above 10, and maybe 2 or 3 brotards at a time.
Second part is true though. Fuckers are just taking advantage because there’s no supervision and just leave their shit without cleaning up.

Where did you live originally?
I’m from the east coast. N.B - As soon as I step off the plane when I go home for a visit, I can feel how much cleaner the air is in my lungs. It’s bad out here.
25 min East of Ottawa now, born and raised in Ottawa (west end primarily). Even though the Capital is small compared to some other cities I notice a difference when I drive to work for the polution. I have a complete gym at home that would satisfy most. All I really need to add is bands and chains. I also workout at work which doesn’t even have half of what I have at home however I work it for now since my kids are grown and use the home gym. Wife uses the home gym in the AM.
I visited a GL once for shits and giggles just to see what is out there and when I asked a trainer where to do deadlifts he asked me why would I want to do that… (GL in Orleans mall).

Thanks papa. and yeah i’ve been looking into FPTraining. Going into 4th year uni and don’t think spending $500 in the summer is best but my buddy might get me in for cheaper. Would love to try it out though.
