Just for shits and giggles, I took mine just now at my desk…
- Not bad for a fat boy.
Ooops. Boss e-mailed something so it’s back up again…

All this resting heart rate talk had me curious so I had to check. 54 standing at my desk right now, lowest it’s ever been as far as I know.

I feel really good. I went into this workout feeling rough. I didn’t plan on doing much just the main movement and some rev hypers. Felt good did the banded Goodmornings just to get some bloodflow and felt like doing some GHR. Got 2 sets of 10.
Improving on the GHR. I want 4 sets of 10.
Ended up screwing around with a new axle bar the gym got. It is a big bar 3” around? Weighs 45.
We had a grip test on it. Double overhand
Bar, 135, 155, 185, 205. Tried 225 fail.
Solid session. Sleep helped with being able to get this one done. I need to focus on getting more sleep.
The intention was to pull back some on the total workload. Instead I got a 1k increase.
If your snoring and breathing rough at night, def try and sort that shit out. I snore like a freight train and have been trying to sort it out for years, usually worse when I’m totally wiped as I go to a deeper sleep, otherwise my sleep is fairly shit. I can tell if I’ve snored badly, sore throat and feel like ass.
That’s me this morning
I bought a mouthguard thing a few years back, pulls your lower jaw forward, worked quite well, then it got old and I got another one, no luck, have fucked around with it for over a year trying to make it work properly. I just received in the mail another device that holds your tongue forward, bit weird but it works quite well, (only 2 nights) the snoring app said I only snored 2% last night
Funny enough I saw them devices online, but was thinking they were a load of crap. After hearing it worked for you I might order one myself to try out. If it improves my sleep even 10% that’s a win
I second/third this. I always feel sluggish and have bags under my eyes due to poor sleep. I know I have mild sleep apnea. I tried a cpap and could not make it work. I tried it for six weeks and every time I’d truly relax and go to sleep the machine would increase the pressure and wake me up. It needed to do that to keep my airway open but it always felt like someone jammed an air compressor house in my mouth. I gave up on it.
I’ve been putting off getting the mouth guard for over a year. I think it’s called the Tap 3 Stop Snoring device and it’s made by Glidewell Labs here in the US. It’s $700 or free if I use my insurance. My problem is that my dentist is out of network and I haven’t taken the time to go to a new dentist and tell them the only service I need is to get the snoring device (they have to take a mold of your mouth and send it to the lab).
You named my symptoms to a T. Seems like this is something I’m only recently dealing with. I’m glad you guys are presenting solutions. I’ve looked into a sleep apnea machine but they are expensive. And $700 for a mouth guard… ok
Breathe right strips seem to help.
The one that was recommended to me is quite expensive. You can order different ones for much less ($100-200). My insurance will cover it 100% as long as it’s filed as a sleep apnea device.
The mouthguard I originally got was 60 bucks for 2 from a Chiro place, it worked very well, for years, I did occasionally have sore teeth though. Then I cheaped out and got a one that looked the same from eBay for about 5 bucks, seems exactly the same, mouldable etc but didn’t really work. The tongue thing seems a bit of a winner, and was cheap, under 10 bucks, still is a bit weird, but better than rattling the house down
Also the best app I’ve found that’s free is, Do I snore or grind? Plug ya phone in at night. Set it off and it will record for however you want and you can listen to the waves of snoring in the morning.
Strong session with a lot of work put in
Weight: 274
Fatigue level: 4.5. (1-10 1=none, 10= deaths door)
BP: 118/79. Rhr: 83 (after coffee)
Headed to church, lunch with my mom. Working out later
I had a couple of nasty meals this week.
Lunch with mom Wensday: 4 piece fried fish w fries
Friday: Taco Bell (3 taco supreme, 1 crunch wrap)
Saturday: Sushi (30-40 pieces and cake)
Sun am: cinnamon roll
I saw 272 on the scale this week. If I stay focused I will be under 270. I just need to grind a bit. The eating did help with recovery and sleep it seems.
I think I had some sort of virus over the last two weeks. I had a nagging sore throat and cough and general run down fatigue feeling. I thought it was training but I started focusing on sleep and ate more and the fatigue and sore throat went away.
Gonna hold onto the program and try to keep the workload poundage in the 30-35k range per session.
I know not all are comfortable with messing with hormones… but I take (IMO a very safe medication) called sermorelin. It encourages your pituitary to make more of its growth hormone. That way your body self regulates and you’re not in danger of messing yourself up. One of many benefits is improved sleep quality. I would typically wake numerous times a night, have great deal of trouble actually falling asleep, and the quality of sleep was poor. I kid you not the first night I took it I went to bed at 11, and work up at 7 in the same position! Best nights rest I’ve ever had. Granted it’s not like that every night, but after being on it for roughly a year I still sleep like a baby! Thought I’d throw it out there for what it’s worth. It’s prescription, and not covered by insurance so costs me about $180 for two months
That’s expensive on top of everything else supplements etc, but if it’s giving you great benefits then it’s probably worth it
Yeah sounds like a good thing Hog, you and conjugate work well together I’m sure of that.
You just need to find your way to not burn and crash.
Thx mort. I do enjoy pushing hard every time I step in the gym.
I know, that’s why I think conjugate suits you so well.
I got a $6000 ($500 OOP) sleep study done in 2018 only for it to come back negative for sleep apnea. At 270+ though, you’re certainly higher risk. However, plenty of 180lb men have sleep apnea too. Weightlifting does not help either, bc you build muscle in the structures around the neck.
I hate how weightlifting has so many negatives associated. We’d all probably be better off with just 1 45 min walk per day. Screw that though!
