Being 16, this is probably the most important thing I’ve learned when it comes to friendship. I have had “friends”. Heck, all my life I’ve been pretty much as popular as one can be! I know everybody and everybody knows me. Not to sound like an ass but that’s true. Being from a small town, I miss all my friends from back home. All of my “friends” up here only care about partying, drinking and getting high all the time. That’s why I stopped hangin’ out with them, because I wasn’t raised that way.
Now, the truth is, most of those friends would laugh at you when you get personal and start talking about some serious stuff. I’m glad I’m gonna be going back home next month for vacation and seeing my old buddies again. Those guys took me in when I was 11-13 years old and they were 18-20 years old and took me to hang out with them. The cool thing is, they never let me drink with them or get high with them but I was always able to just kick it back with them. And when the conversation got personal, they never laughed or bailed on me and that’s why I value our friendship so much.
So, trust me, those old friends of yours aren’t even worthy of so much thought. You’ll meet new people through this lifestyle and find out that people who you can relate to and vice versa are the people who deserve your friendship.
