LORD OF THE RINGS

Hey, Colon, next time try spelling your name correctly.

Oh man, this is some funny ass shit, everybody’s rippin at eachother over some Dungeons and Dragons shit. OOOHH! What now?? I know a bunch of you nerds are gonna jump all over that comment by giving some technical explanation of how incredibly mistaken I am, so let’s just not and pretend you did. Anyhow, I never heard of this whole story either, so y’all shouldn’t go insulting someone’s intelligence because they simply don’t share your taste in literature or movie genres (however bad it may be, haha, just kidding). I’m sure I could name off a bunch of movies or characters which an avid “Lord of the Rings” fan has probably never heard of. Bottom line is that we all got different views and interests so dont be hating on others for not knowin!!! PACE PECANTE.

Tom Bombadil has the ring on his finger but nothings happens. Powerfull ?
And both Aragon and Gandalf thinks of Tom as one powerfull and wise “person”.

Dungeons and dragons??? Nerds??? I think someone’s got the wrong end of the stick. Anyway, what would you rather see at the movies-a film on car racing or maybe a Van Damme flick? And what would you rather read? Penthouse forum? C’mon, you must have something to contribute to the gene pool!

I’ve read LOTR when I was in high school. I justy find it amazing how people do not read more these days and how some have never heard of it. Being a Tman man involves a little more than reading porno. When I was a kid I read whatever I got my hands on, including dirty mags. Someone once said " specialization is for insects." You can read or not read, but some of us old timers will definitly roll our eyes at people mwe think aren’t very well rounded.
I’ve definitly noticed a shift in educational standards etc. in the last few years that I would blame on a lack of reading as a child. Remember, hot women like smart guys with big shoulders and squatter glutes that are addressed as Dr.

Gotta agree with you Irondoc, there’s a guy I work with who’s 23 and reckons he has read 2 books in his life and can’t figure why I would want to read a book, “isn’t out on video yet?”. Went to the library yesterday and got about 5 out from Chuck Palaniuk’s (sp)Invisble Monsters to a book on Malcolm X, just a piss off I can’t read all 5 at once.

Those are some good books. I actually think Andrew Vachss is better, though. His Burke novels are as gritty as they come. If you like military stories look for Stephen Hunter. I know the vixen got his new one for one of presents. He wrote a series about a sniper after the war. The first was called Point Of Impact, then Dirty White Boys, Black Light, A Time to Hunt, then Hot Springs. They’re real page turners, with the hero Bob Lee Swagger as the ultimate Tman. Let’s just say he was real pissed when the bad guys killed his dog!

Thanks for that, I’ll check those out. We are moving in 3 weeks to bigger city (town by US standards) so the library should have more selection, at the moment if I want anything different from what an average 65yr old would read then it needs to be ordered in from somewhere else, but still cheaper than buying. Have you read any Nelson DeMille esp early stuff?
