Looking for a Sniper from History

Yeah, I heard he had a couple .45s lying on the seat of his truck as he was following them.

Fucked up thing is that the dog was a therapy dog to help him deal with all of the shit he went through, and these dipshits killed it. They are lucky to be alive.

I highly recommend it too.
I do as well.

Did any of you read about what happened with him after he got back? Not sure of the time frame, but apparently a bunch of kids killed his (and others) dog, as a prank or something. He followed them, drove them off the road and held them there until the police came. Wrong guy to fuck with
I remember that story well.

FWIW, I had dinner last fall with the former Commander of Special Forces in the Middle East and he mentioned what a complete total mistake it was for Luttrel’s unit to even attempt the mission without proper communications set up.
Did he do an interview? I think I read something about that. Maybe someone else with a similar view, hindsight is always perfect though.

I had no idea the dog served that purpose, wow those asshats are incredibly lucky to be alive.

If I recall correctly my friend made the point that as soon as they landed at the beginning of the mission, realizing they couldn’t effectively communicate with base, and before the chopper was too far gone, they should’ve radioed for extraction. It was not an important mission that required them to be out of communication as part of the plan.

They simply blew it by continuing the mission. This is something that will probably never be officially published because of the extraordinary heroism and loss of life, however.
Got ya. I understand why no one will publish it.

For those who enjoyed Lone Survivor, check out Roberts Ridge by Malcolm MacPherson. Well written book about the fight to recover Neil Roberts body from Takur Ghar during Operation Anaconda.

if thats not the guy then he should b

Saw the History Channel documentary on Alvin York years ago, very impressive work. Great learning about these honorable men.

I FUCKING LOVE badassoftheweek.com

I love history now, but if my high school history teacher had had even 1/10th of the ability to present the material in such a mind-tinglingly kickass way

(
25 September 1066. The Saxons really had the Vikings by the balls now.

It had all started earlier that year, when King Edward the Confessor kicked the bucket without first having the good sense to nail some babe and leave England with a living heir. Anglo-Saxon bigwig Harold Godwinson was already in the neighborhood of the throne room so he went ahead and grabbed the crown for himself, but this kind of pissed off the Norwegian King, a massive badass Viking known as Harald Hardrada. There was also a third dude who staked a claim on the recently-vacated throne, some French bastard named William, but he was currently dicking around in Normandy doing God-knows-what and doesnâ??t really figure into this particular tale at all.
)

as that I probably would have been a history major outright.

Here’s another commando badass, even though not a sniper. He is by far one of my favorites. Climbing a fucking ice cliff while being shot between 5-15 times, and then kicking ass even though you’re perforated like swiss cheese.

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with Hathcock’s One Shot, One Kill. It’s a classic.

Here is a little article about the Army’s 3rd ID “Shadow Team.” One of their guys recently broke the record for longest shot with a 7.62 weapon. Something like 1300-1400 meters I think. Good shit.
