Looking Big Without Looking Like You Lift?

I hate how people judge your size by your arms (bis and tris). When it’s summertime at the pool though, the guy with the big chest, shoulders, and back wins. Oh and da abzz.

When people start walking their chihuahua on the other side of the street because they are scared you might eat it, you are big.

I think people doesn’t pay attention at how much grams they are weighing the first time people tells them if they lift.

I’m sure anyone who puts hard/smart work in the gym and in the kitchen will be told that sometime.

It’s not 6’ 195lbs at 15% body fat. You can’t even tell I lift if a wear a regular shirt with long sleeves. If I wear a good fitting t-shirt I’ve gotten comments about being in shape. Recently a nurse asked me if I did pushups because I looked in shape. This was kind of an ego deflater. I got my bench up to 275 so I can look like I might do pushups?!

Yeah, I second that. I’m 201/202 at 6’, about 15% bf (maybe a tad more, but under 20 for sure), and the most common thing I get is, ‘did you play sports in school?’ Uggghhhh… I’d much rather, ‘dude, you must work out!’

It’s usually something more like, “do you workout?”…as if muscles just grow for no reason. Sometimes you get, “I was your size back when I was your age!” coming from some 140lbs dude in his late 40’s.

If you’re lucky, you’ll get, “my cousin is even bigger than you”.

Apparently everyone has a cousin over 300lbs ripped who hardly ever trains.
I was told 'bout 2 years ago “I have a cousin and you’re a joke compared to him, he’s 265 and he doesn’t even train”, I got really pissed BTW.

Don’t take it as an insult- everyone knows that pushups are more functional.
Haha, yeah thats just what I was striving for the functional luck. I hope the chicks at the beach this summer are commenting to each other about how functional I look  .

I think the only reason I even get the very rare, weak compliments when I wear good fitting t-shirts is because I’ve got the vein on bicep which some people seem to identify with some form of exercise.

On a more positive note, although most women can’t tell I bust my ass in the gym 5-6 days a week by looking at my body normally clothed, the ones that like me and end up feeling it do ask me if I work out. I wanna keep working out until I have the same effect as the scottish janitor from the Simpsons when he takes his shirt off.

I have also had a conversation with a guy who asked how much I benched, “about 300lb or 137.5kg” I answered.
“Oh my cousin can bench 500, but he doesn’t compete.”
So I asked “500 what, pounds or kilos?”
“which is heavier?” he asks, “kilos” say I.
“Oh its probably kilos then, yeah kilos.”
“Well he’s stronger than me then”

So beware!

If you’ve looked at the Stallone thread in GAL, the vein actually means that you’re “ageing”

You’re just saying that because your arms are tiny

Haha yea pretty much that’s why I hate it! Everything else grows good but da bicepts! I know people who don’t even train who have bigger arms than me and little tiny legs and shoulders WTF!

You have it all wrong, it not about size as such.
Ok, let me put it another way.

E.g. this chap hits the gym hard, thats clear, but how can you tell?

You are comparing basketball players to people who are trying to be the biggest/strongest?

You’re either doing something wrong or your arms are exactly the size they should be at your strength levels (on arm work such as CGP’s and Alt curls).

Your profile has you at 190lbs at 6’1". How big do you think your arms are going to get at that weight? That’s not big for someone your height at all.

It really varies from person to person.

You ever see him in person?

LOL.

I’ve seen Shaq and there is no question that he lifts even if he is carrying more body fat. It’s just harder to fill out when you are that tall.
