Long term TRT and fertility

Hi all, just wanted to get some thoughts on my situation at the moment and advice on fertility after long term TRT.

I have done various blast and cruises over the past 7 years, now aged 34 (never more than 500mg test and very rarely stacked with anything else). Settled on 125mg of test the past year as it’s a dose I feel best on, better quality of sleep, more energy whilst still having benefits in the gym.

Me and my partner are now looking to try for a baby but I am worried about my fertility and will be visiting a doctor to see where I stand but just wanted to get some thoughts from others who have maybe been in similar situations. We’ve been trying for 6 months now with nothing happening.

I am thinking to go cold turkey on the test to give myself the best chance as my usage is hidden from my partner. When I go for a fertility test ideally I’d like to give myself the best chance to conceal my numbers and have a semi normal count so in my situation would you drop the TRT and jump onto HCG? Or would you keep taking the TRT? Ideally I don’t want to feel like shit if it can be avoided.

Could I give my sperm count a semi-normal look just by adding HCG to my current dosage of test?

Appreciate this is all speculation but just was interested to see if anyone has been in a similar situation and managed to get through it. Any replies would be helpful

There’s no guarantees. You’re assuming that you’re the one with the problem and not your girlfriend.

It’s best to wait and see the results of your sperm analysis.

If your sperm results are not favorable, <15 million, you could add hCG and FSH injections to your TRT protocol.

There is a good thread going here regarding TRT/HCG fertility. Ideally, adding HCG WITH your TRT should produce results. Was on TRT for approx 6 years, with some increases, took HCG 200 iu every day and got the old lady pregnant in about 2 months. YMMV obviously. Some take much higher doses of HCG to get results, but from what ive seen, no need to drop the TRT dose… Maybe lower if you want but i didnt.

I’d find an endo and work with them. They’ll likely wean you off t, add hcg and clomid.

Unsolicited, I know, but I would also tell your partner. This is pretty massive information that can alter the trajectory of her life and cause some very deep seeded sadness and then resentment if she finds out later.

No any input is welcome otherwise I wouldn’t have posted, completely agree with you

Agree, she deserves to know what is going on.

For the record, you should be able to recover just fine and have a baby. But Inwould follow endo advice, not steroid discussion forums. She will at least know what the situation is and not go in to freak out mode that women with a ticking biological clock and pregnancy difficulties experience.

Update:

Positive test already

Been off for 10 weeks
Week 1-4 - no pct or hcg
Week 4-6 500iu hcg per day and 50mg clomid
Weeks 6-10 50mg clomid

(Delayed onset of hcg was due to lack of availability)

Just thought I would post incase anyone else has felt similar anxieties about getting fertile again, seems to happen fairly quickly if you come off everything

Congratulations mate! Literally nearly word for word of your original post is my current situation. I have a question for you, when you came off completely. How long did it take for your testicles to start to come back? Mines are like grapes just now even after being off for a month so far. On 1500iu of HCG EOD and 50mg Clomid ED.

Thanks and reassuring to know people are in similar boats, was my exact reason for posting as I know how anxious I myself was feeling. I think it took maybe 6 weeks off before they felt a bit more full and lining up the dates I think that must have been when we had our successful attempt. That was 2 weeks into pct.

I only did the HCG for about 10 days in the end but used Clomid for 6 weeks total and by the end they felt a bit bigger but to be honest I was on for so long I can’t remember their original size haha.

I don’t really see much posted about this but I watched a video of Jeremy Buendia on Instagram talking about PCT and how you are hyper fertile whilst on that and how he has had 2 kids whilst on PCT so fingers crossed it’s not too long for you mate

Well I’m glad you got there eventually mate, all the best to you and your family.

My last pin was 31 days ago, feeling surprisingly ok so far just not got that usual spring in my step that I did whilst I was on.

You reckon you’ll go back on T? As soon as I’m successful (hopefully) I’m right back on.

Yeah me too, I was surprised how good I felt, think where I was on such a low amount it meant there wasn’t a massive drop off with mood and energy when I came off. Sleep improved too. That being said I will be jumping back on but at 125mg again that seems to be the sweet spot for me, I won’t ever cycle again

HCG alone for fertility can go up to 9000 IU per week.

I used HCG while on TRT for 1000 IU thrice per week. One can maintain fertility on TRT at 500 IU twice per week.

See a urologist or endocrinologist who deals with fertility.

Thanks for this and seen your posts on other threads, managed to get the job done on minimal HCG and 50mg Clomid a day so all good now :+1:t2:

I personally went through this myself when my wife and I were trying to conceive. I was on TRT for 4 years, with next to no HCG. I then began HCG at 200 IU’s EOD. After a few months, my sperm count was around 5 million. I stayed on TRT whilst using the HCG. Then, I met with a good fertility doctor who advised me to increase my HCG dose to 125 IU’s Daily (1050 IU per week), and add 75 IU’s of FSH (Compounded FSH) 3x per week. After two months, my sperm count was over 20 million. In the end, my swimmers came back strong. I’m 38 in September. If you’re looking for a baby naturally, and want it done quick, compounded FSH will get your sperm count up and running fast while used in conjunction with HCG.
