It’s been two weeks since I’ve heard from you. Are you okay?

Had to go to CO on biz. Got to see some elk. Something about me ending up in small towns…

How’s Canukistan treatin’ ya these days?[/quote]

=O Oooooooooooooooo! Elk?

Canukistan? Well, you know, there’s always something going on here. A few weeks ago, one of the school teachers was caught shoplifting at Wal-Mart. This village is going to hell in a handbasket.

I don’t know how you can stay in that hell hole! You need to move down here to Maine.

But just a warning-- you’ll have to deal with a lot of ‘mischief’ and ‘suspicious behavior’ being reported to the authorities.

I know that a lot of funny shit goes down in ME man, my college roommate would always get his parents to mail him oddball newspaper clippings.

One of which I found to be pretty funny. It went something like this:

“Man was brought in on charges of growing marijuana this weekend. When the police asked the man’s wife if she knew about her husbands hobby she replied ‘I didn’t know what he was doing out in his shed; I thought he was practicing his yo-yo’…”

lol

and there was an article about a man being arrested for DWI on hit tractor and hitting a cow; that was a good laugh as well

I know. I fear for my safety now and Maine is looking like a good alternative.

You wouldn’t turn me in, would you? I thought we were friends.

Out of curiosity this morning, I checked out local crime stats from the city I’m from and compared to them to the village I’ve lived in for the past year.

I wonder what a morality offense is? Looks like people here just like to beat each other up.

God I miss the North Country. I went to school at Plymouth in New Hampshire but I loved going north of the notches as I lived up there when I was little. Fucking hill billy shit is the best there is.

No way. To some it’s ‘mischief’. To others it’s ‘fun’

I have to say, this thread amuses the hell out of me- reminds me so much of the town I grew up in (pop. 1500, middle of nowhere IA). It was very country, surrounded by cornfields on all sides, 8x13 streets as I recall.

One day I was babysitting the block down from me for Trooper Bob (both policemen in town were named Bob, so we differentiated by calling the trooper Trooper Bob and the town policeman Town Bob).

Anyway, Trooper Bob’s son Blaine was about 3 years old, and one day when we were outside having a watergun fight he stopped by a tree in the front yard, whipped it out, and started peeing.

The neighbor lady was on her front porch drinking her afternoon “iced tea” (we all knew it was spiked) crocheting as usual, but when she saw him peeing on the tree she shot straight up, and started marching toward him…

Now I could have sworn she was going to get upset at him for peeing in public right in the front yard…

… but no, she’s waving her hand above her head and shouting his name, he’s got this frightened “Uh oh” deer-in-the-headlights look on his face, she grabs his hand and starts pulling him toward the back yard, while he’s still kinda peeing in between being frightened, and she says “Blaine, I TOLD you, you gotta pee in the garden, it keeps the rabbits away!”

I nearly fell on the ground laughing. Only in a small town…

So, um, hi Steely. It’s been a while and I thought I’d let you know that I’m thinking of relocating due to the high crime rate here. Can I come to GA with you? I like the Athens area.

Oh, I thought that I’d share this with you. It’s amazing how differently people can live only 30 minutes away from you. I had to take a picture of this house. They “appear” to be taxidermists but I, for one, think they are operating an illegal cigarette house. There will be justice!!!

Well I was born in a small town
And I live in a small town
Probly die in a small town
Oh, those small communities

All my friends are so small town
My parents live in the same small town
My job is so small town
Provides little opportunity

Educated in a small town
Taught the fear of jesus in a small town
Used to daydream in that small town
Another boring romantic thats me

But Ive seen it all in a small town
Had myself a ball in a small town
Married an l.a. doll and brought her to this small town
Now shes small town just like me

No I cannot forget where it is that I come from
I cannot forget the people who love me
Yeah, I can be myself here in this small town
And people let me be just what I want to be

Got nothing against a big town
Still hayseed enough to say
Look whos in the big town
But my bed is in a small town
Oh, and thats good enough for me

Well I was born in a small town
And I can breathe in a small town
Gonna die in this small town
And thats probly where theyll bury me

Come on down-- the more the merrier!

LMAO! Great pic! This area has no shortage of roadside ‘hubcap farms’…

My husband used to be a cop for the Augusta PD. This really takes me back. Does the mental institution still set the crazies loose on the town for “socialization”?

Do you read Uncle Henry’s? Some of those entries are quite funny too.

BAH!!! Yeah, “AMHI”-- they rebuilt the Memorial Bridge and resurrected the ‘Suicide Fence’ (for a mere $240k) to keep them from jumping into the Kennebec…

Uncle Henry’s is a permanent fixture in my house  How else will I get m’hubcaps for m’dooryahd??
