Which country would be the ‘best’, in terms of tolerance for different religions, different lifestyles, being able to enjoy life? I know India has a large Muslim population but I mean countries where the majority of people are Muslim. I’m especially interested in the Middle East and Northern Africa.
Dubai UAE
Depends on where in the country you want to settle (rural or urban), what religion you practice, how you “enjoy life”, how much money you have, your profession, etc. But as a general rule, and if you mean what I think you mean, you’ll find any country with a healthy tourism industry to be quite tolerant.
I’d rank Indonesia, Morocco and Lebanon pretty high on the list.

That’s a tricky area for non-muslims. People better be really attentive to how they carry themselves there and not get caught up in the “awesomeness” of Dubai.
Personally,I would go with Qatar over Dubai. You won’t feel like the “bling” of Dubai is a trap.
Thats an easy one…
Wait, give me a minute…
Okay I know…
Oh, forget it.
I would second UAE. Dubai for vacations, and Abu Dhabi if your planning on living there. The great thing about the Emirates is that there is enough Muslim ‘infrastructure’ such as mosques, islamic stores, etc to satisfy any Muslim, yet to a foreigner it wouldn’t seem much different from a typical western metropolis due to the sheer amount of expats there.

Why are all the Christian natives of Lebanon moving out of Lebanon, then? It wouldn’t have anything to do with the Shi’a Crescent, would it?
I’d rather be dead than live in a islamic theocracy. But that’s just me. I am not in favor of any theocracies though. Nor, communism, socialism, facism, dictatorship, or tribal hierarchy.

Nah, you just can’t get good shwerma in Lebanon anymore. You have to go to Tennessee to get the real thing now a days.
From what I understand Egypt might be a little tolerant. I was thinking Lebanon until PRCaldude struck it down. The issue is the freedom to congregate as a group of non-muslim belivers. No major Muslim led country will allow that in large numbers. If you can fit into your home than you can get away with it, but building a church, synagogue, or temple you are screwed. There is no freedom of religion in any muslim country. You will die for your beliefs.
My father-inlaw lives in indonesia…have not heard much from him in a few years.
Somaliland. lol

There are still Egyptian christians, but as you say, the muslims are currently on a killing spree.

Like V_N said, they persecute their Coptic Christian minority.
England.

Anywhere where Hinduism and Buddhism are the major religions will have greater tolerance for others IMO.

No, it’s not.
Don’t listen to that moron. Muslims are fleeing Lebanon in much larger numbers than Christians. It’s more about geo-politics than anything else.
True.
Well, Muslims flee every Muslim country they can, don’t they? Look at you - you’re living in Sweden. I guess there must be “geopolitical situations” in every Muslim country. I’m sure it has nothing to do with your religion breeding sucky living conditions and backwardness. Couldn’t be that.
I’ve never been to a majority-Muslim country, but what about Turkey? The separation of church and state is very strong there, much stronger than it is in the U.S.

I was thinking of Turkey also. They are a little more moderate.

That’s true. Just don’t be Armenian.
