Liver Support With Herbs

I was wondering if anybody has any experiences using liver support (herbs like milk thistle, etc.) in combination with a demanding lifting routine.

I know milk thistle has some specific applications to things like acetominophen toxicity, but I’m not sure if it, or possibly other supplements would have any tangible effect on recovery, energy levels, etc. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? Experiences??

I haven’t noticed any effects with the milk thistle, but then again, I don’t have any idea what I should be looking for. How do I know if my liver has been “detoxed”?

Alpha Lipoic Acid in the r- isomer is supposed to be good for the liver too.

I was thinking more of subjective effects. But I guess you’d have to follow some sort of standardized training protocol (same set/rep scheme, rest periods, weight progression, etc.) and see if a particular supplement/combination of supplements had any effect on things like performance and perceived energy levels.
