Damn, I’m not very blown away by the new album…the songs that rock (4 songs!!!) do sound good and are a good follow up, but Meteora/Re-anime/Hybrid Theory/Live in Texas even the disc with Jay-Z are still way above this new one, atleast as far as what I like about Linkin Park with all the sampling, scratching, and pure rage.
I don’t get it what the hell happened, did they get married, have some kids, or something that made them go soft? What happened to the depressed, fuck you, pissed off rage? All these slow songs…wow…I think somewhere they lost their edge. I’m a huge LP fan, but this new cd just doesn’t do it for me.
The 4 songs that rock are good but out of 11 songs and 1 that is just an intro…hmmm I’m starting to think Mike should not have done Ft Minor and concentrated more on getting this album up to speed. Although Ft Minor is a good disc, besides where is all the crazy sampling/scratching from Han?
I’m glad I bought the $10 CD and not the MVI/CD for $17!!! Would I go to see LP on tour with this album…not likely, I’ve seen both other albums but I’m not very impressed with 4 out of 11 songs being fast and having a rock edge.
I don’t know, I’m just not impressed with just 4 rock songs out of 11. I’ve been anticipating this album for a while now and feel sort of let down/disappointed especially when the website played 3 of 4 rock songs.
I think if Meteora heard Minutes to Midnight, it’d kick its ass in the blink of an eye, then Hybrid Theory would torch whatevers left, then Re-Anime would swoop in and dust off the ashes!!!
music on the whole is looking pretty damn lackluster. i think this is a cultural slump that will last as long as kids are satisfied by endless supplies of free porn and video games.
I haven’t heard the album yet (and I likely won’t now), but know the few tracks the radio has been playing I was wondering if they had gone soft.
I understand a bands urge to explore new music forms and I think that’s a great idea, but moving to more of a pop sound…ummm, that smells more of sellout.

Second this. I hate LP. All their shit is the same half-rap half-rock. I have never liked them. And if they are going emo/soft, they will suck even worse.
I like Linkin Park, but I listened to the first 5 tracks of this CD and had to turn it off. I just didn’t have any interest in listening to it, I was bored.
I liked Hybrid Theory and Meteora, also some songs from Collision Course. Two or three songs on this one aren’t bad, but I won’t be buying it.
Basically, they ditched everything that made them kind of unique (whether you like them or not), most of the songs on Minutes to Midnight sound like a watered down version of their former selves.
