Just touching base, think I did my last squat and pull for awhile, shoulder is now feeling worse, so I guess I’ll starting listening to my old body for a bit…
Orthopedic dr appt this Wed afternoon.
My new temporary plan is cardio/abs/lower leg machines while wearing a black and pink zebra sling to help keep the should from moving around too much…cardio so far is just steep incline w/fast paced walking on the treadmill for now.
I’ll be living vicariously thru these Powerful Women doing all these PL meets in the near future…let’s kick some *ss !

I read this as “black and white zebra slink” . . . as in some animal print camisole and thought “how interesting.”
Ahh, shit. I spent time on the spin bike during my recoup because I was afraid I might stumble on the treadmill.
So you’ll get an action plan come Wednesday? I will say, you can look forward to the comeback. There are glitches, for sure, but the beginner gains really rock!
Ok, plan is July 1st surgery. Dr feels it’s bicep tendon just waiting to rupture and labrum with overuse and probable degenerative tissue due to age may not be fixable. Overall shoulder is really in good shape, no problems with AC joint, bones, nor rotator cuff. Dr was really surprised.
Surgery will be to reattach the bicep tendon to a different place on the bone, and that should fix my pain and allow me to bench 400# next year.
Options were cortisone shot for pain or surgery, well when he heard I was a competitive powerlifter, there was really no choice but to put me back together!
Boo surgery, but fuckin’ yay on benching 400 after recovery!
I really hope everything goes well and you don’t go too crazy being stuck with cardio and machines for now. At least you’ll look cute with your zebra print sling
Sorry to hear about the shoulder. I have shitty shoulders (too much brotard, or sistard, benching when I was in my early 20s) and the right one’s been classed as chronic. That fucker’s been broken for 20 years. It’s no fun, especially when you’re trying to sleep. I hope yours can be fixed.
mim - thanks, a lot of lifting and old age played into this injury, don’t know if there was really anything i could have done to avoid it. I do warm up properly, but maybe could stretch and foam roll a bit more afterwards. Oh, and drink plenty of fluids.
BG - yep, just gotta keep that 400# bench in the back of my head as a longterm goal instead of shortterm.
Cal - yours can’t be fixed? I don’t know if I could survive with constant pain and aches.
Snap - yep a bit different than your shoulder injury, hope when he goes in that he doesn’t find anything else. Rehab will be about the same though, 6 weeks in sling along with PT for months, then finally building the strength back up.

Yea Joe, kinda sux, but I’m trying to be positive and will do whatever doc and PT say to.
Haven’t been training much, still trying to find things I can do without aggravating the bicep too much. found some new squat machines, and want to try draping some short chain thru my thicker belt to add weight and squatting off 2 benches. Still need to get a sled to pull too.
Doing a water cut with my son this week, I’m teaching him how to do it correctly. He is of course worried he won’t make weight, but today is cutoff of fluids/food and I’m trying to let him know this is the day the weight falls off. He only has about 3 lbs to go so it really shouldn’t be an issue, but he’s worried of course.
Can’t wait to meet Joe and his wife this weekend and show him “real” kneewrapping…lol
