Being an Indiana fan, basketball AND unfortunately football nothing pisses me off more than a Notre Dame football fan and an Indiana basketball fan. You can root for whoever you want too but damn I sit through football season so I can make it to winter and you’re getting spoiled both seasons lol
To anyone who thinks they have it bad being a fan of whatever team

Everything you say is true, and yet somehow you think that is a bad thing? That an extremely poor person, from a third world country can basically make a name for himself through hard-work, consistency and almost no financial commitment… and you think that is bad?
You think it’s bad that starving kids, poverty stricken areas, have something that brings joy and happiness to their incredibly depressing and unfortunate situation?
Sounds like you are either delusional(which I know you aren’t) or you are trying too hard to make soccer look bad.
Popularity wise, it’s a given that there are more popular sports in America, we know that. That’s because the quality of american soccer players are shit. You are not technical, you do not have coordination to make it work, yet.
I doubt anyone thinks poor, starving children having fun is a bad thing. It’s just an explanation for the sport’s popularity, and why, in some people’s opinion, it’s boring. Because impoverished kids would probably rather do literally anything besides sit around feeling hungry and dying. It’s not hard for soccer to be fun and interesting by comparison.
You make sense on a logical level, and I like that. However, anything by comparison can seem amazing. We could probably discuss our way into a comparison where Hitler seems like the best option for us.
By the way, when you say “Some people say it’s boring” what you really mean is americans think it’s boring. Is that correct? Because I can name plenty of players who were not from poverty-stricken conditions and still chose soccer over any other sport presented to them.
You don’t think Hockey is HUGE in Europe? It is, and it’s expensive.
The same way I understand you guys’ thoughts and opinions, you guys have to understand that when ONE country, in the entire world, goes against what everybody else loves… It becomes quite strange to say “Oh yeah, you might have a point there”. No, You don’t, you are just the outlier but fail to realize it? You are literally the person outside of the group, saying the group is shit. Not a whole bunch of credibility there.
I think the issue with the difference in taste, is within the fact that ‘american’ sports are for an ADD inflicted population.
6 seconds of action, 2 minutes of rest, 6 secs of action, 2 mins of rest. A total football game has on average 11-15 minutes of action. You call that action? I call that boring. Taste is subjective.

I don’t think it invalidates my argument to compare soccer to Hitler.
Also as Derek pointed out the timings you used for American football are wildly inaccurate. But even so, having watched soccer games I would posit that there is vastly less “action” in those. It depends on your definition of action. Watching a bunch of skinny dudes run back and forth while no scoring happens doesn’t qualify to me, and that is 99% of it.
WOW! Thanks for all the responses guys! Haha, I told my buddy how dumb it was to pick a team just cause they are good. I am an Everton fan and this year they are playing awesome! He was like they suck and aren’t a good team… They are in 5th place. So like i said before, ignorant statement were made by him. And no reason to hate on soccer, it’s a great sport and to some (including me) is a very exciting one. That is my opinion though. Go BLUES!!!

As a Cleveland fan, i am expert in this area with well over 10+ hours supporting hopeless sports teams. The only logical reason i have for supporting these teams is that i grew up going to all the games, and im not a front running douche who’s going to flip flop. There is usually another team that i’d like to see win and will watch during the playoffs.
bandwagon sports fans are some of the worst people to be around.
Right there with you on the Cleveland sports. It’s tough sometimes but I’m loyal. Guy at work suddenly decides to start liking Seattle… go figure. Do what I do when somebody talks shit…just say yeah but we still got the Buckeyes…BIAAAAAAATCHHHH!!!

LMFAO!!! I call Soccer the “S” word in our house because I don’t want my son even hearing that word.
I was gonna pull the long-suffering Detroit Lions fan card, but killerDIRK takes that prize with the Cubbies.
And, as the level of immigration rises here, soccer will only grow in popularity.

Have to agree, this was where you went wrong.
I strongly disagree with you, you are wrong.

If you are not from the US then you can talk soccer all you want.
You can start a thread about soccer and talk about all the flopping and tied games in that thread.
However do not include real sports like Football, Basketball, Baseball and Hockey with Soccer.
That is for foreign guys with no money for a real sport and I guess Hipsters in the northwest who have to be “different” for the sake of being different.
There have been whole threads complaining about the flopping in basketball and with all the new rules in football it will not be long before it becomes touch back or flag football. Baseball? The only “sport” where out of shape fat asses can be top dogs. Don’t get me wrong I like basketball and football but, those that say soccer is for pussies, etc. have never played competitively.
I played soccer for 14 years.
When did I ever say soccer was for pussies?
Its just fucking boring to watch. Like watching 90 year olds fuck or paint dry.
Uhh. Where are these 90 year olds fucking?
I would have sympathy for Cubs fans if Chicago’s football team has never been to a superbowl, or the blackhawks never won a cup, or the bulls did not win 6 titles with the best player to step on the court. Please CHICAGO cubs fans, tell me how hard it is being a CHICAGO sports fan…
