Baseball is a joke that’s pretty apparent.

Football is fun to watch, but it’s obvious, football as a sport will be gone in the next 15-20 years and America will finally join the rest of the world in having Soccer as it’s main sport.

No parent will willingly put their kid in situation where he WILL, scientifically proven, receive seriousX1000 brain dmg at the end of his career.

I have a mixed opinion on unsuccessful teams. While I don’t think you necessarily have to like dominant teams, your team shouldn’t be bottom rung. There is a reciprocity that should exist between team and fan; fans should be rewarded for their loyalty with at least a modest degree of success from the team. I’m from New York City and I am not a Knicks fan because they do not play well.

But then again, I root for individual players more often than teams since you can have great players who do great things on terrible teams. The only team I have absolute loyalty to without compromise is Michigan football and basketball.

I have followed the Kansas City Chiefs since the start of the '07 season and been an Ireland soccer supporter all my life so I know a thing or two about following unsuccessful teams. Its tough but when your team finally starts playing well, see the Chiefs this year or Ireland in the 90’s and early 00’s, its very rewarding to have stuck with them through the thick and thin. Anyone who flip flops to successful teams deserves to have scorn heaped on top of them.

As for Soccer, its a great sport, definitely not just for pussies and I’m fairly certain is growing in popularity in the US constantly. Lot of demand coming from US for tickets for World Cup in Brazil.

Soccer is popular worldwide cause it takes no money, all you need is a goats bladder tied off and pumped with air. Kids run around kicking it in between an old exploded mine and the head of the goat. Yeppee soccer at its finest. Takes away from the fact the kid has not eaten in three days. Kids are able to play it in third world countries and that is great for them.

I am pretty much just making a statement of why its popular outside of the US.

Obviously in the US, soccer has a following I played for a long time in south Texas, however it will never become the dominate sport. Due to the fact we do not have a society that will enable it to grow.

Football has become the national pastime in the US. While it is changing at many levels it will never be flag/touch football like many fear.

If you enjoy soccer and enjoy watching it then for the love of God go watch it.

Just do not be surprised if 90% of Americans can not discuss with you anything in relation to the sport.
