Lifting with the Stricks

Cav, I have to. My rear rises when the weight gets heavy enough, but I am trying to correct that. I have got to maintain the position I had in the video or my back won’t last.

The wife thing is kind of funny. As soon as I quit TELLING her that she was moving up in weight, and started simply pointing out that she might be able to move up, IF SHE IS COMFORTABLE WITH IT, she started moving up with no issues. And, no, it wasn’t one of those “don’t tell me what to do” things. It just relieved some of the pressure of feeling like she had to. If that makes sense!?
Usually, after a set that looked like she had reps to spare, I will ask her how it felt and if she had more in her. If she agrees with what I observed, I’ll just say, “you can probably add 5# and still get your reps…or we can wait a week.” She usually jumps all over it.

She actually got pissed, while benching, yesterday, because she couldn’t consistently hit the sweet spot on her chest. It was very good to see. She needs some grrrr.

Joe, my back is tight and sore today. But nothing major. Repping this stuff is what blasts me. I think I am going to drop to sets of 3 reps and might alter my squats, as they seem to be bothering me the most. Might go lighter on them. Might cut the depth short. Not sure yet. DLs are definitely more important to me, though.

From the look of the beard in that video, you are working on becoming a good Santa Claus, though, heh.
A beefy Santa.

More kittens!! This forum is full of 'em!

Alright, you folks asked for it. You want kittens, you got kittens:

Finally!!! Another cat pic! I love the Borg names, the Borg are the Bestest Star Trek idea ever imo. Although technically, couldn’t you call that cat “Kitty 2, of the Strick”? Heh.

Can you believe I’m 5’8", and have an inseam of 29+? Guess that’s why I have an ok deadlift, and a sucky squat. If Mrs. Strick’s squat surpasses mine someday, I will be inconsolable, so take it easy there!

I agree about the kitty pics - we need more!

I’m 6’1" with an inseam of 34", don’t believe that I’m built for deads or squats or bench… but since I’m something of a contrarian…

Yeah…the beard is a bit thicker. I let it fill in more during the winter. Tighten the belt tight enough and I get a good Santa belly as well.

Here’s a pic of kitten #2 (I call them by their Borg names…so, 2 of 7) and me. Better view of the beard. I didn’t have any gray 10 years ago, when I was kidless. And I am starting to look old…lol.
Yes, yes, kids WILL do that to ya. Another trekkie? My wife makes fun of my past ‘obsession’ with ‘Star Trek’. One of these days, I’m gonna pick up all the episodes of TOS and watch those. I already have all of the new series’ on DVD.

Bulldog - “Beefy”…yeah, we’ll go with that. lol

Cav, you can never have to many kittens. Cats, yes…kittens, no.

PG, I thought the kitten pic might draw you out.
Yep, I have short, little legs. My wife’s inseam is just 2 1/2" shorter than mine, but I am 10" taller than her. And I am not sure what I am built for, if anything.

Soldog, more kittens pics are on the way. And my inseam should be about that. Not sure why my legs are shorter…genetics? Or the braces I had to wear as a toddler?

Rug, I am not a true trekkie, but I have seen all of the movies (multiple times), watched all of the original series, a lot of the Next Generation, some Deep Space Nine and could not stomach the political correctness of Voyager. And I do like the new movie, even if it created an alternate/divergent reality.

Kittens until you puke!
