12/30/13 - Monday
Breakdancing.
Monkey flip>handhop
This was all I could practice with my new shoulder problem. Best was three hops.

Monkey flip>handhop
This was all I could practice with my new shoulder problem. Best was three hops.
12/31/13 - Tuesday
Breakdancing.
This was all I practiced. (friend beatboxing in the background:D)
For comparison, this is what it used to be:
Notable improvements in hip height and speed.
What helped was landing each swipe flat footed to get a stable base to push the next swipe from, and keeping my thigh tight so it doesn’t shift side to side, basically making the foundation for every push into every swipe as stable as possible.
Shitty toprock, I worked on it just before posting this log entry and will continue to do so. It’s not hard, but if I keep using that as an excuse to not practice it, I’ll be that guy who can do all the muscle work but can’t actually dance.
1/1/14 - Wednesday
Cycle 27, Week 2, Day 1
Deadlift
bar
3x135
3x185
3x215
3x250
18x280 - 4 reps short of PRing over 20x285. Wanted to avoid failure and leave some in the tank after last week’s complete fuck-up.
Squat
10x165
10x175
3x10x185
Pull-ups
12, only had time for one set
Breakdancing
Gym closed early, didn’t get my logistics right today.
Air babys at home. Did a couple with only two fingers on my left hand touching the ground, taking steps to holding it on just my right arm.
1/2/14 - Thursday
Cycle 27, Week 2, Day 2
Overhead press
bar
3x110
3x125
10x140 - Needed 12 to PR. I haven’t been eating enough. It’s hard to get enough food when I’m living at home. I can’t pull a fucking cup of yogurt out of the fridge without my parents telling me I have a binge disorder.
Bench press
bar
10x115
10x125
10x135
10x125
2x10x135
Pull-ups
11 4 3
Breakdancing.
1990s>headspin
Practiced just this all night, and finally got the set I wanted. More spin would be nice though.
1/3/14 - Friday
Breakdancing.
Monkey flip>handhop
Got better at going right into the handhop quickly.
Also ended up doing some sets that were monkey flip>1990 by accident, all on my right arm. Must learn to control this power :o
1/4/14 - Saturday
Cycle 27, Week 1, Day 3
Been eating well the past few days.
Squat
bar
3x135
1x185
3x200
3x230
7x260 - most recent previous PRs: 6x250 and 3x265. NICE
Deadlift
bar
3x135
10x205
10x215
10x225
2x10x235
Pull-ups
10 5 6
Breakdancing.
Monkey flip>handhop
In retrospect I shouldn’t have practiced this since I can do this move anywhere and had other stuff to work on. Got more quick transitions into double handhops, but I had to stop after I overstretched my left side from the monkey flips.
Handhops
Just these on my left arm to get better with them.
1990s>forearm headspin
Swipes>mills>swipes
Consistency is the main thing I’m worried about right now.
1/5/14 - Sunday
Cycle 27, Week 2, Day 4
Bench press
bar
3x95
3x125
3x145
14x160 - Probably beats previous 12x165 and 15x155
OHP
2x10x95
2x10x105
10x115
Pull-ups
12 5 6
Breakdancing.
1990s>forearm headspin
Doing the 1990 on a bare hand instead of a beanie gives me more control, I can control when to spin and when to grab the ground to descend into the spin. Head goes directly down to right hand.
Right leg comes around low and punches up for both the 1990 and the headspin. Can decide to do a hollowback or stall after the headspin depending on the beat. Got some good sets.
Oh. Measurements
Weight: 177.5
Waist: 33-3/4 (-1/4)
Chest: 41-5/8 (-1/8)
Hips: 38
R bicep: 14-1/4 same on both arms
L bicep: 14-3/8
R thigh: 25-7/8 (-1/8)
L thigh: 25-1/8 (+3/8)
So some muscle from my chest and right thigh crawled down to my left thigh:o
1/6/14 - Monday
Breakdancing.
Monkey flip > handhop
Got it. Two keys to making it happen:
Right hand plants down close to right heel
Left hand goes directly overhead, think about looking up at the ceiling
Got five out of five consistency with this move today.
CCs
About time I started doing actual footwork instead of the fake crab walking shit I do as filler between my moves. Need to get faster.
1/7/14 - Tuesday
Breakdancing.
Mill>headspin
My goal for the battle is to go:
coindrop>mill>headspin>mill>headspin>mill>footwork>done
Got two sets like this today. Not consistent enough. Steps are:
Land (do the coindrop without fucking myself up)
Legs wide (one mill after the coindrop to set this up)
Touch the ground behind me with my feet (that’s how high I need to roll)
Also.
Rollback thread
Also not consistent enough. Steps are:
Butt tight (easy way to keep legs from drooping around and messing up my balance)
Shoulder tight (duh)
Foot and hand meet at my belly button (big help for balance)
1/8/14 - Wednesday
Cycle 27, Week 3, Day 1
Felt pretty amped up going in to the gym today but once I actually started lifting I felt dead.
Deadlift
bar
4x135
2x185
5x235
3x265
14x295 - FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUck
Squat

10x185
2x10x190
10x165
Pull-ups

Breakdancing.
Couldn’t even do a single HSP today.
Went home and slept x.x
1/9/14 - Thursday
Cycle 27, Week 3, Day 2
Overhead press
bar
3x95
5x120
3x135
7x150 - Hoped for 10 to beat 10x145. I don’t know if I’m getting weaker, maybe from overreaching, or maybe I’m just starting to plateau.
Bench press
10x125
3x10x135
10x140
Breakdancing.
1990>headspin
Better consistency than last time.
Rollback threads
Shitty.
I feel like I’m overreaching. I feel my hips are stiffer than normal.
1/10/14 - Friday
Breakdancing. Head was burnt up SO
Monkey flip>handhop
Faster, more consistent. Right hand plants DIRECTLY behind right foot, left arm goes directly overhead, take a moment to lock it down, then start hopping.
Left arm handstand > left arm freeze
I want this before the battle so I don’t just crash out of the handhop. We’ll see.
Spent all afternoon on just this. In hindsight, could have streamlined and worked on something else.
1/11/14 - Saturday
Cycle 27, Week 3, Day 3
Squat
bar
4x135
2x185
5x215
3x245
3x275 - beats last cycle’s 3x265. most ever squatted by me ever in my life ever
Deadlift
bar warmup w/e
10x205
10x225
10x245
10x255
10x235
Pull-ups
12 5 6
Breakdancing
Left arm handstand > left arm chair
Swipes/mills
Nothing new anywhere today.
1/12/14 - Sunday
Cycle 27, Week 3, Day 4
Bench press
bar, warmup w/e
5x135
3x155
7x170 - Doesn’t come close to last cycle’s 12x165. I noticed something like this in cycle 25 (though not to the same extent), where I went from 13x155 down to 9x160. After the deload the PRs came back though.
Breakdancing.
Swipes/mills
Learned about hand placement to start the first swipe right from standing position.
Also, the mill should roll around the head to get high enough to chain into the next swipe and avoid migrating on the slippery floor.
OHP
10x95
10x105
10x115
10x105
10x110
Pull-ups

1/13/14 - Monday
Breakdancing.
Mill/headspin
1990>headspin
Both were shitty performance. I tried to stick to the cues I had in mind but got very few acceptable sets. I was pissed, then I looked back through my log and saw that I haven’t done 1990>headspin since last Thursday and I haven’t done mill/headspin since last Tuesday because my head was burnt up from, well, practicing them.
Thinking for the rest of the week going into the battle, practice everything every day.
1/14/14 - Tuesday
Are you fucking serious? It’s this been this long since I’ve logged?
Shit.
Breakdancing.
Mill/headspin
1990>headspin
Left arm handstand
Practice balancing on my left arm for rollback threads without the head burning or elbow impact that rollback threads cause.
Consistency greatly improved.
1/15/14 - Wednesday
Cycle 27, Week 4, Day 1
Deadlift
bar, warmup, w/e
5x125
5x155
5x185
Breakdancing.
More of yesterday’s stuff. Same cues but better consistency.
Also, rollback threads:
Step 3 has to be done fast. If I’m slow, my right hand will find its way to the floor to help me balance, which is slow and ugly and no good.
1/16/14 - Thursday
Cycle 27, Week 4, Day 2
Overhead press
Needed four sets with the bar to get it moving fast today. Then,
5x65
5x80
5x95
Breakdancing.
Swipes/mills
They just didn’t click today. My right shoulder felt tight and I couldn’t do them. So I tried something today, I did the assistance work first.
Bench press
bar
10x115
10x135
3x10x145
Pull-ups
10 9 8
Breakdancing (again).
Swipes/mills
Went a lot better. Without the lifting to get me going mentally I was feeling lazy and slow. Here’s what I learned:
Looking at the video I can’t say this was my fastest day with this set (after all, my best set of the day was literally right before I left). But definitely still productive because now I know exactly what to do to get it right.
1/17/14 - Friday
Went over everything. 3/3 with mill/headspin and rollback thread. Felt confident everywhere.
1/18/14 - Saturday
Went to the jam. Lessons learned:
I still suck. Every move I had, there were at least five guys who could do it faster, smoother, longer, and without hands (where applicable). It’s one thing to see it on YouTube, it’s another thing to get your ass handed to you in person.
Know the logistics. I cut it close with gas money, and all that night driving messes with my mind.
