Squat
bar
3x185
3x210
6x235 - none left. beats 7x220. Only now this just gets me more hung up on how I once did 5x260, round-backed-knees-in technique notwithstanding.
Wanted to do frontflips, but grass was wet again >_<
1990s
Sucked, couldn’t lock anything down.
Elbow freeze>handstand
Also bad, couldn’t get a single one.
Bench press
bar
2x95
3x115
3x135
9x150 - maybe one left.
1990s
Tiny but very real PR, right between 1-3/4 and 1-7/8 spin. It may help to think about less cues instead of more; the simpler I make the move the less there is to go wrong.
Barrel mills
A lot better than yesterday. Had several sets of two although the second one would always be really sloppy, landed on my back a second time is what I mean to say. It would be like, first barrel mill clean, second barrel mill really nasty but getting around.
Ended when I got up from one of them with that rhomboid spasm feeling.
Elbow freeze>handstand
Still bad. I had these for a little bit but now I don’t
Deadlift

5x135
3x185
5x215
3x240
10x270 - none left
Breakdancing
Elbow freeze>handstand
Still no luck. I think it’s because I’ve been relying too much on milk for protein in the dining hall, which in turn takes up a lot of my carbs. So instead of eating rice and potatoes I’m drinking milk - not right.
Drill headspins
Got a few good ones. Whip the legs around hard, drag the right foot up the left leg.
Assistance work
Because uni has so little things to do, the only rational option after working out is to do more working out.
GMs, 21x95 15x105 11x115
Seated leg extension, 5 sets, some kind of pyramid working up to a set of about eight then working down again
Seated leg curl, 3 sets, same thing
Crickets
Got a good focused set or two, then felt my brain turn off and I just couldn’t do it anymore.
Cricket hops
Chair freezes
Footwork/style
So this week was honestly pretty shitty. I made marginal progress with 1990s and barrel mills, but between barrel mills and overtraining on elbow freeze>handstand (of which I landed zero where before I had been consistently succeeding), I had to go to the chiropractor three times this week. Three.
I noticed an increase in appetite since I started doing assistance work, so I’ll start eating more. 400c/300p/120f to 450c/350p/120f. I will also make sure to:
Not practice the same move for more than two days in a row
Not try to practice a move after I get that cold, mind fog feeling that comes with having practiced for a while.
Squat
bar
5x135
5x190
3x220
3x250 - none left. But I had to hold back because I felt poop turtling out when I tried squeezing really hard. Still bad, my squat and lifting in general used to be much better. But maybe there’s some connection between:
Squat: 3x265 > 7x220 : Meanwhile, improved frontflip landing
OHP: 5x150 > 5-6x135 : Meanwhile, 1990s from 1-3/8 spin to >1-3/4 spin, and achievement of elbow freeze>handstand (haven’t done it recently but still)
For what it’s worth, I hit a PR in handstand pushups (WITHOUT wall). I always do HSPs before breakdancing to loosen up my shoulders and practice my tension and balance. I hit 10, which beats my previous PR of 7 that was about four or five days ago.
1990s
Best was 1-1/2 today, it seems that I have to practice a move two days in a row to do well in it, like one day to re-learn it and one day to actually improve.
Chair freezes
Definitely was able to stall one just one arm for longer than yesterday. I’m practicing these on both arms; training my left arm gives me some skill on that side but also gives me something to do instead of just waiting to rest and try again on my right arm.
Bench press
bar
1x95
5x125
3x140
6x160 - Maybe one left, I’m always extra cautious with bench because I go without spotter to avoid, well, dealing with spotters, so I really don’t want to get stuck at the bottom of a rep. Anyways it beats last cycle’s 4x155 (two left in tank then), but I’m still thinking damn, when will I start getting lifetime lifting PRs again.
Breakdancing.
Where yesterday I hit 10 HSPs before practice, today I could only do four.
1990s
Shitty. I got a 1-5/8 spin but after that I couldn’t get locked down on top of my arm or whip my legs around properly. So I cut my losses and left quick.
Headspins
Mostly drill headspins. Couple double spins, one or two even more than double spins, but nothing that I walked away from thinking THAT WAS SOME DOPE SHIT… today was pretty disappointing honestly.
Crip walking
Learned a new move called the V-step, I think it’s called? Like snake heel and toe, backwards. It wasn’t really interesting once I got the hang of it, the other one I did, the crown one, is cooler.
For what it’s worth, my appetite is unstoppable. 450c/350p/120f from brown rice, chicken sandwiches, toast, pretty much as real food as you can get in a dining hall. I’m getting a ridiculous 24/7 food baby but I’m sick of everything being stalled; it shouldn’t take months and injuries to put 10 pounds on my deadlift or learn a new power move variation.
Barrel mills
Felt sharp and strong, but I was out of practice with these so it took me a frustratingly long time to get anywhere. Some clean singles landings, but really shitty performance if you look at how long it took for me just to get back into decent movement again.
Crickets
Tried crickets>windmills - feels very possible but I ran out of focus before I could get it. Also just did more sets of crickets.
Chair freezes
Obvious improvement. More stable, can stall them longer. Will post a picture - won’t promise it looks good, I need to get strong enough to hold my legs up while in the freeze.
Barrel mills
Warming up was much quicker because now I’m back into practice with these, I know the movement again. Two sets of messy doubles, could have practiced more but then I remembered the receptionist at the chiro office saying, “See you next week!” - fuck that. I need to practice more frequency, less volume, especially with these technically demanding power moves that present high injury risk if practiced for too long in one session.
1990s
PRed at just under two full spins.
Head freezes
Didn’t want to over stress my shoulders and put myself at risk of rhomboid spasm again since 1990s and barrel mills are already moves that have caused that injury in the past, and wanted to take it easy on my wrists after the chair freezes for the past couple days. No obvious improvement, I think I learned something new about how to keep my belly/butt tight but when you’re standing on your head at 11pm everything makes pretty good sense if it gets you in the shower faster.
Today I was really limited with what I could do because my wrists still felt sore from chair freezes, my head is burnt up from headspins, and I wanted to take a day off from anything involving windmills so I could avoid overuse injury. So:
Elbow freeze>handstand
Got one. But it’s harder than I remember.
Various single-arm forearm freezes, easier than I thought they would be.
Swipes
It’s been a while since I’ve practiced these, but they’re a good move to know. I will keep working on these.
As a side note, I found my appetite to be even greater today, I ate everything that I planned on eating with considerable ease.
So my schedule got messed up today and I didn’t get to eat as much as usual. Long story but just remember the moral is that if someone tells you he can get you making $2000/month part time, and proceeds to show you an Amway PowerPoint, don’t hang around.
OHP

Breakdancing
All during practice I felt mentally sharp and able to do whatever, but I felt like I didn’t have the usual strength in my actual muscle. I normally leave feeling mentally and physically dead, today I just left feeling physically dead but mentally I still feel like I could do homework or whatever. I think it’s because my eating got messed up:(
Barrel mills
One, count them, one, decent set. Clean landing, whipped it around and landed on one knee, could have passed for an actual set and not just flopping around. Literally every other attempt I could not get the way I needed. I did some just going mill>headstand to practice the motion, and those were fine though.
Master swipes
Something about kicking the left leg up while whipping the upper body around. These are harder than they look.
Chair freezes
Obvious improvement over the course of the week, starting to bring legs up and feel more confident just sitting back on that one arm.
Barrel mills
Lots of singles, best set was the same as yesterday’s best set.
Mills
I realized that I suck in terms of consistency with mills>headspins, as well as mills. By failing to take the time just to practice mills by themselves I became sloppy with them, I am slower and I migrate with them.
Chair freeze
I moved stuff around in my dorm room so I can do these in my room. No noticeable improvement over yesterday.
Mill>headspin
I need to master this motion, along with mills, before I can move on to barrel mills. Otherwise I will just be more likely to hurt myself and psyche myself out more often.
Mills
Because these need improvement too, just because I can do them does not mean they need refinement and perfection to be faster, smoother, and in place.
Mill>headspin
Learned something new. Legs must stay wide. Right leg sweeps up towards face, left leg sweeps around away from face. Just between yesterday and today I’ve made significant progress in consistency and familiarity with the mill>headspin motion. I need to master it before I can move on to barrels.
Plain mills
From footwork, from coindrop, working on speed and technique in general
Elbow freeze, no head
I like practicing these. Balance is easier than I thought, especially if I’m just on one forearm. Will post a video in case my description of this move is confusing.
Mill>headspin
Wanted to practice these, I really did. But every time I rolled around, I burnt this spot on my left shoulder, like rug burn. I know that every day I try to push through it will be a painful, unproductive day, plus another day afterwards for it to recover. So I quit early.
1990s
Been a while, getting these back. Hit ~1-5/8 today.
Elbow freeze. I’ll post a picture or something. I really will. But that shit’s a hassle and I have to sleep. Feeling more stable.
Today was definitely slow paced. I have a cold coming on so I was blowing my nose every so often and I was slipping out of focus.
Deadlift
bar
3x135
5x190
5x220
15x250 - Got 15x255 before.
Headspins
My head is burnt up, I got a few double spins, and I can’t keep my legs locked straight up while spinning.
Squats
10x115, 2x10x135, 2x10x145
Felt pretty easy, figure why not use the assistance work as BBB and take the chance to practice every lift twice a week.
My head and shoulder are burnt up, not like internal injury, just from floor friction from doing mills and headspins.
Overhead press
5x95
5x110
11x125 - Probably beats previous 8x130. I just didn’t let myself slow down.
Could not practice for shit today. On top of my burnt up head and shoulder from headspins and mills, my right arm now feels like my forearm is trying to twist itself away from my upper arm every time I spin a 1990. I did some 90s today but they were all really bad, couldn’t get on top of my arm, best was 1-3/8.
So I went back to the weight room and did a bunch of assistance work. Dips, pull-ups, pull downs, DB bench, DB OHP, 3-4 sets of these, short rest, sets of 6-10, focusing on working the muscle. I think it was a mistake to skip assistance work during the deload because last cycle, when I was doing assistance work, that’s when I hit my best 1990 and that’s when I felt the strongest and most in control when doing other moves like mill>headspin.
It’s been a couple of weeks eating like 450c/350p/120f and I don’t notice any negative change in my body. I will get a tape measure so I can get my shit back together with charting progress.
