Lifter from Chicago

Yesterday’s workout.

Military Press Bar x 12, 75x8, 95x6, 115x5, 135x5, 155x4 I would say this was my max (at least for the day); I really grinded out the last rep at 155
Pullups on assisted machine -105x3x3x3 I really lack lat strength
Lat Pulldown on Hammer Machine 90x12, 140x8, 160x6
DB Bench 40x15, 55x12, 70x10, 80x8, 90x7 these felt good
Seated Row on Nautilus Machine 90x15, 140x12, 180x10, 230x8x7
Dips 0x5x5, 10x5, 15x3

Today’s workout
Squat Bodyweight x 15, Barx12, 95x10, 135x8, 185x5, 225x3, 275x3, 315x3 (belt on), 355x3
Romainian DL Bar x15, 95x15, 115x12, 135x10, 155x8, 175x6

By the way, I guy I know from the gym did 495x6 raw (some assistance from the spotter on the last two reps) on the bench today. He weighs 235, at least thats what he told me, an I have no reason not to believe him. It was an awesone sight to see. He’s an older guy like us, just brutally strong.

nice going Chi-town! you got another meet planned?

I’m thinking about doing a raw comp on 12/12 but may pass up and restart 5/3/1. I’d like to a USAPL meet next year with some single ply gear, but we’ll see.

Sorry to hear about your Brother and law.

training is looking good.

RDL’s knees have a slight bend but you focus on getting your hips back!!
much like a good morning. you lower the bar to about mid shin, and really get the hips back away fro the bar

I like them allot.

KMC,

Thanks for the video. That’s how I’m doing them, so I’ll be saying RDL instead of SLDL from know on. Ans I must say they kick my butt, literally.

Nice squats, CTL. And great job grinding out the presses.
I suffer the same complaint with lat strength. Just one more thing to work on…

Little Strick, aint that the truth. The nice thing about being older is that I’m not afraid to admit my weaknesses, but I still need to work on them.

Today’s workout

Bench, Barx45, 95x12, 135x8, 165x6, 195x3, 225x3, 245x3, 185x3 got a spotter and lift for the 245 set, felt strong,
Incline Bench 95x12, 135x8, 155x6, 175x3, 135x9
Chest Supported Rows (Nautilus Machine) 125x12, 140x10, 155x8, 170x7, 185x6, 200x4
Dips 0x8x7, 10x6x4, 15x4 (29 total reps, moving toward 50.

CTL- Nice pressing! Dips may be my all time favorite. I find them to be huge help for BP. keep it up!

Yesterday’s workout:

Deadlift: Barx12, 95x10, 135x8, 186x5, 225x3, 275x3 315x2, 365x1 (lose belt), 405x1, 455x0 just short of lockout, extended legs to quickly I think. Last workout didn’t get past knees.
Good Mornings: Barx15, 75x12, 105x10, 125x8, 145x6 (10 pounds better than last workout)
DB Rows 45x15, 55x15, 65x15, 75x10 High rep work is my bane.

Nice deads - you’ll get that 455 next time.

So, I have a question on belt use with deads. I’ve been pulling it tight and I see you leaving it loose, is that just a matter of personal preference? Or is there a recommended way to wear the belt for deads?

Hey, gotta be down there for Thanksgiving, I need to get a bench session in that Friday and squatting on Saturday. Looking at Max Hardcaore in Waukegan, let me know if you are in…

actually Ithink it is monster garage

Pete,

Would love to make it but will be busy during the holiday weekend. Thanks for the invite.

Kudos on the pullups. I can’t do them because I can’t find a machine with 300#s of assistance
Nice work!

Did I ever say welcome to the forum?

Well, then…Welcome to the forum!

OG, thanks for the words of encouragement
Little Strick, my lats still suck
DCA, thanks for the welcome.

Today’s workout

Squat BWx15, Barx12, 95x10, 135x8, 225x3, 275x3, 315x3 (belt on), 365x3, 385x1, 405x0. Strange but satisfying workout. 225 were perfect reps and felt like a feather. 275 felt like it was going to crush me. 315 was very easy and 365 was strong, I felt like I could have done 2 more reps. So I got in my mind to try 405 which would be a PR. Then I was a candy ass and did 385 first. Was a good effort but I might have doubled with it. Then I went for 405, Unracked strongly, controlled decent and then I couldn’t budge it; left it on the pins in the rack. I think if I did 365x1 and then 405 could have got it. Oh well next time.

RDL Barx15, 75x15, 105x12, 135x10, 165x8, 195x6, 225x3 (tough to hold with my wimp grip).

Hey Chi-town, dropped by to say hello, you’re a strong dude, great numbers at your meet.
Your thread title caught my eye being a former Chicagoan myself. Grew up on the Near Northside, Clifton and Armitage. Just got back from a weekend in town going to my 30th high school reunion from Lane Tech.
Welcome to the neighborhood.

Just checking in. You’ve got some good lifts going and some solid training. You doing anything specific for your grip other than the pulling?
