Dude i’m totally jelly that you have so many meets in your area. Kinda got that damn itch to do another one. It’s a good itch though, especially now that i know more of what to expect.

Kalle, thanks man. I think it is, and I actually thought about that when I first saw it. “If Kalle can SFW like a boss in this bitch, it can surely handle my weak ass weights!” In the future, if you’re searching my logs, look for the hidden L.W.I. titles. I think that’ll be my theme, haha

Herc, it’s pretty awesome having so many meets around here. But at the same time, I feel the “need”/urge to do a lot of them, which takes away from the time between meets put towards getting stronger, and having bigger meet PRs. Oh well. This upcoming meet will be my last for a while. Maybe 6 months or something. I’ll probably go do the meet next year, that was my first meet, and see how big of a PR I can smash, filling out the 220’s.

Woke up today not sore really at all, but I’ve got this damn sinus cold shit that’s been bugging me for a few days. I’ll take the rest of today to chillax, get off work early, catch a movie, do nothing, and then prepare to dominate a session tomorrow consisting of squats/bench/DB flyes/weighted pushups/front squats/GMs. Fuck, that doesn’t look fun now, does it?!

Felt strong in each set. Front squats were tough but felt good, didn’t notice any butt wink or big issues in form on vid. Vids up later.

Edit: I noticed, while thinking about my low numbers and why they aren’t “easier”, and I’m sure it’s because I’m hitting multiple reps around 80%. If my 80% number goes up each week, theoretically, my 1rm should be going up as well, right? Spent the day chasing the girls around, swimming, and eating. Looking forward to chilling at home and having some beers with my bro. Beers aid in recovery, right? I mean, this is a russian program we’re dealing with here…I’m surprised “Vodka Shots” aren’t one on the exercises, haha.

Does my front squat form look decent?? I think it looks alright, and they felt good, so I think I’m happy with them. I’ve never pushed heavy weight on those, but I think I’ll keep after them (even if they aren’t in Sheiko in the future). I like pausing all my bench reps, I think it’ll help my competition max, practicing that way.

Thanks man, everything’s feeling good too. Upper back feels good, and I think it’s actually looking a bit better. I think I might just change my hame to “Sheiko” because I’m loving it so far!!

Maye if the shotlasses were heavy, and it was like a curl. Hmm…hammer curls, with a shot glass glued to the end of the db…hmmmm

Good to see you are getting into the Sheiko groove!

Front squats looked reasonably solid, I’d try them with a clean grip though as I find it makes the movement a bunch easier in terms of bar positioning.

phlegms, thanks man, I’m loving it. I don’t have the wrist flexibility (yet) to use a clean grip for front squats. I try using the straps trick (straps around the bar, holding the end of the strap in a clean position), but it doesn’t feel solid enough. When I can, I’ll use the clean grip.

No way in hell will i wear a beanie while working out, because i sweat too much. I’d probably drown in my own sweat if i put much more clothing on while i train. Gotta admit it looks badass though.

The beanie increases temp, but I feel a little more badass in it, haha. Maye it adds pounds to my lifts? I think it probably does.

I feel the same way re: front squat grip. I can’t stay tight unless my arms are crossed. Hey, I’m not an OLY lifter, so who the hell cares what grip I take? Haha

I had the same issue with the clean grip for a while and used the straps with mixed success, I just slowly worked up to it over a few weeks to build up the wrist flexibility and it definitely paid off.

DF, true that.

Phlegmy, do you feel like you’re stronger using the clean grip now, over the crossed arm? Like, can you lkift more weight one way over the other?

Pulls today, to the knee, followed by benching of some sort, rack pulls, then some other crap. It’s Labor Day today, so it’s time to DO WORK!
