Lift With Intensity

May I suggest only conditioning type of workouts when the kids are awake?

congrats on the Bench PR!

I’ve been stuck on my deadlift all year - turns out foot rotation played a big part in moving forward.

love the countdown to a meet

Greg! What’s up, amigo? Your wife giving you some free internet time again? That’s sweet of her

Mainy, yeah I would do conditioning type workouts when the girls are up, except I don’t do conditioning type workouts, LOL! Fatty 4 life! And yeah, I have noticed foot angle being important when it comes to sumo pulling. Good job in moving that shit upwards!

Det, if I wasn’t a pure fatty, I could see the issue with putting on weight. So much volume, plus you’re adding in extra workouts (you sadist) so it’s not really surprising. Do you compete at 220 or cut down to 198?

Anyone got any tips for seated GM’s? Other than “get a SSB”? Shit’s hard!

I don’t like cutting weight, the whole point of doing the meet is to be at your strongest, cutting weight will diminish your body’s ability to perform at its best.

Those extra workouts aren’t suppose to be taxing lol, they’re designed to help my CNS recover and help with mobility.

If Seated GM’s are a problem, try doing back extensions with the bar on your back, and treat it like GM.

Det, I agree with you re: cutting weight. Been there, done that, had a horrible performance because of it. Last time I try to cut 15 pounds in a few days, lol.

I don’t know the seated GM’s are a “problem” they’re just hard as shit. I’ll drop the weight some, and try to get a vid next time for review. Thanks broseph

Friend of mine is doing Sheiko 29 right now (he’s on W4D2) and he ran #37 before this. He is planning on doing a Feb 4th meet (8 weeks), so would it be advisable to start #37 now (instead of the last session or 2 of #29) and follow that up with #32, to peak right for his meet?

Follow-up question, since he’ll also be doing the same meet as I am, would following his first meet with 29/32 set him up alright for the second meet?

Thanks, oh wise ones, lol

yup that’s our motto

I keep telling the womenz in our compound fuck losing 10lbs if you can deadlift 300lbs. Seems I’m in a category of my own… Fatty 4 Life.

Mainy, I don’t know what’s up with women and being hung up on their weight, but it does seem that you’re “foreveralone.jpeg” over there then. It’s ok, they’re all jelly of your lifts, and you know it

Well, no lifting this weekend. I was trying to get on track so that my week of lifting actually start on a Monday. I did, however, go on a 5 mile hike/jog in the desert yesterday with my wife, which kicked my freaking ass. I’ll put up a few pics of where we went. It was a perfect day out, and we even got to see a roadrunner eating a small bird less than 10 feet from us. I didn’t know they were carnivorous (other than insects) but it was cool watching him take off with a freaking bird hanging out of his beak.

Sheiko 29 Wk2D1 tonight.

Perfect day to be outside

And this long ass, rocky hill that I never thought was going to end, was @ the 3 mile mark. Going down it was a pain in the ass becuase you’re trying not to eat shit by stepping on a loose rock and going up it is brutal because, well, it’s uphill.

Mrs. Ink, leaving me behind.

As much as I hate running, this was actually fun. I would coose trail running over street running every time. Gotta get some trail running shoes, if I keep that up though. And no, I won’t even think of taking vibrams out there. I’d rather saw my feet off.

12/16/11 Sheiko 29 W2D1

Few days off did me well, as my energy levels lasted this whole session, which was nice. I hate being worn the hell out and only halfway done. Session went as follows

Squat
165x5
200x4
235x3x2
270x2x5 Hard, but solid.

Bench
145x5
175x4
205x2x2
235x3x5 Felt heavy, but got all reps clean and paused

Rear Delt Raises
5x10

Pushups 5x10

Front Squat (Been a while)
155x3x2
185x3x2
200x2x4 *Pretty sure that’s a PR. I think the last time I did these (last time running #29) it was <200. Hard, but form was better than expected.

GM’s
2 sets close stance, 1 set “medium”, 2 sets wide. Wide stance FTW.
5x5

12/15/11 #29 W2D2

Deadlift to knees
225x3
265x3
315x3x2
335x2x4 Vid of last set

Sorry it’s blurry, camera focus was being stupid

Bench (Close grip)
145x6
175x6x2
190x6x4

Flyes
5x10

Block Pulls
245x4
295x4
335x4x2 Fucking dying right now
355x4x2 Needed straps after this, my weak little mitts couldn’t hold shit. Vid second set. (Was supposed to go 355x4x4, but the third set fucked me up.)
355x2
355x4

GHR’s (Ghetto, on the floor, feet under couch LOL)
5x5

Death. I’m really hurting this morning.

LWI

Man, I thought I did a lot of pulling last night.

Thought I’d stop by and see what’s going on in here.

Hahaha, if it was that kind of pulling I don’t think I’d be sore all over. And yeah, the deadlift sessions are intense man. Thanks for checking in!

nice training ink - how are you finding sheiko? tough but enjoyable?

i want to give it a trial next year, got to clear up some niggling injuries first though!

Honestly, I love it. It’s hard, yeah. The sessions take a while, especially if you need to adjust to the volume at first, by taking extra long rest periods, but you adapt after a few weeks.

So, tough? Hell yes.

Enjoyable? Definitely.

I don’t see myself doing anything other than this style of training for a long time.

Give it a shot, when you feel up to it, and use it for a few months before deciding to drop it or not. Running 1 month of it will probably have you hooked though, haha

Trail running is way less monotonous than running on the street that’s for sure.

Pull machine in that last workout. Great job mi amigo

It really is. I could get into trail running, but eff the streets man, haha. And thanks, I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus today, but it’s worth it.

Good to have you back Gregster, enjoying married life?

BUSY weekend, without any training other that some pain tolerance training while getting a new tattoo, walking around the zoo for “ZooLights” for a couple hours, and heading up to the snow and playing around with my kids for a few hours.

“Active Recovery” lol

Right shin, below my other daughters heart w/cross bones and name.
