Hey everyone … Court just sent me some updates on her meet today:

Just finished benching…

Squat: made 135kg, missed 145 on depth, made 150

Bench: made 77.5, made 82.5. Missed 85…tried to eat it :slight_smile:

I’m pulling for my total on my third. Fml

hope her cupcakes were good (that one was all me)

She pulled 137.5 easy, missed 172.5 twice. Princess Insane Jump!

Okay so since Polo and PMPM posted my actual results I’ll get right into my recap of the day…

Went to bed early last night (1030ish) and was out cold. Woke up around 430, fell back asleep til 5:45 and couldn’t get back to sleep. At 6:30 I decided to get up and walk off some of my nervous energy I was feeling. I walked for half an hour.

When I got back my roomie had just woken up and wondered where I was. He wasn’t concerned enough to have called me, but he did wonder :slight_smile: We left around 8 for the gym and got there early. Since they were all set up from the push/pull weigh in, we got to equipment check and weigh in right away.

I weighed in at 73.2kg (161 lbs). I think my scale at home may be a bit heavy, but I was still happy with having put on the weight to come in closer to the top of my weight class.

Things moved a little slow and we didn’t actually start first attempts until 12pm. Let me preface this by saying I got highlights yesterday and am much blonder than I am usually. Everything they say about dumb blondes and bleach going to the brain is true. I was dumb as shit.

Before we started, I managed to misplace my “blue” binder/clipboard that contained my CPU card, my attempts cards, etc. I searched (and basically had a search party out) for about 20 minutes looking for it. Finally my coach grabbed me and told me to just go get some new attempt cards and chill out.

So I did that and then decided to listen to my ipod to relax. Well wouldn’t you know that I couldn’t find that. I went and searched all my bags again and of course, at that point I found my clipboard. It’s black. FML #1. I still couldn’t find my ipod and was freaking out. I decided to go check my car even though I was positive I had put it in my bag. I hadn’t. It was in my car. FML #2.

I took my ipod, my sandwich and my gatorade and went and sat by myself for a bit. Just as the push/pull lifting was underway, I felt back in control and calm. My coach then laughed at me and told me it was just nerves.

Warm ups come around. The head ref comes in and tells us that she wants to make sure we get fully set up for squats and so once we’re “set” to either make eye contact with her or nod so she doesn’t give us our command early. I then get into my squat suit. The weight that I gained went to my thighs, my stomach and my boobs (typical woman).

After my suit was on I did a single at 245 straps down to set the suit in my crotch. I then wrapped myself, threw the straps up to do my last single with full commands at 275.

Well they squeezed me into belt hole 3 (which is where I was my last squat session…5lbs lighter…). I unracked bent over and just made parallel. I couldn’t get a breath either. I chalked it up to a tight belt and got over it…altho generally I would like to smoke my last warmup…

Squat 1 - 135kg (297 lbs) - Unracked fairly tall, stepped back and nodded my head. I’m not sure if I nodded too much or just the movement threw me off. She gave me my command and I rocked back on my heels and almost fell. Took a second to get my balance back and got it. 3 whites.

Squat 2 - 145kg (320lbs) - Unracked a little bent over. Squatted a little slow, hit a sticking point on the way up, completed my lift. 2 reds for depth (center and left judge).

Squat 3 - 150kg (330lbs) - I told my coach I wanted 150 so we went for it. Unracked tall, squatted with speed, hit a sticking point at the same spot, pushed through. 3 whites.

Bench warmups… had some issues with some shooting pain down my arm. My 160 warm up moved very slowly. Didn’t feel overly confident.

Bench 1 - 77.5kg (171lbs) - Cracked my wrists to make it the last inch to my chest, so made it a lot harder on myself than it needed to be. 2 whites.

Bench 2 - 82.5kg (182lbs) - This was lower than my “planned” 2nd attempt, but after how slow the first went, I wanted to be a bit conservative. Made it to my chest easier, got some more pop off my chest, but was slow as fuck. Got it. 3 whites. PB (I think my gym PB was 180 previously tho I may be wrong).

Bench 3 - 85kg (187lbs) - Got it to my chest, started pushing, got stuck pretty early, pushed ‘back’ a little, my shirt threw me and the weight flew back towards my face. The safety bars caught it and then the spotters grabbed it. I still freaked a little and threw my head to the side to ‘get out of the way’ I guess. 3 reds.

Deadlift warmups… I didn’t do the kg-lb conversion to know what I needed to pull to hit a 405kg total. I told my coach I wanted it though. He said we would go for it on my 2nd instead of wasting energy. I knew it was 172.5kg, but didn’t try to do the math in my head to even have an idea of what that was in pounds. Reminder: PB was 335lbs.

Deadlift 1 - 137.5kg (303lbs) - Easy. 3 whites.

Deadlift 2 - 172.5kg (380lbs) - Pulled. Pulled. Pulled. The thing didn’t move. My face turned red though. I stopped pulling and started walking off the platform and all of a sudden saw black. One of the handlers grabbed me and steadied me and walked me towards my coach. I then freaked out because I couldn’t get a full breath in, they couldn’t get my belt off me and I had a bit of a meltdown. Gathered myself because they were big flights (13 lifters) and got ready to pull again. 3 reds.

Deadlift 3 - 172.5kg (380lbs) - Pulled. Pulled. It budged. Pulled. It went back on the ground. It moved maybe an inch. MAYBE. After it hit the ground said “F*ck” then covered my mouth and said “Oops sorry” to the head judge who was giving me a dirty look heehee. Walked off the platform and said “I need a beer”. Proceeded to drink beer. 3 reds.

So overall, I went 5/9 with a total of 370kg which is 5kg above Class I. So I’m now a Class I lifter! It’s not Master, but it’ll do. It’s also 72.5kg higher than my previous total (up a weight class and now in full gear). Looking back, if I had known that pull was 380, I may have said “screw the total, let’s hit a PB”, but, at the end of the day, it’s not that big of a deal. I had fun, I gave it everything I had and I can more than live with that.

Special thanks to Bunny for videoing most of my attempts. I got 2 and 3 squats, all 3 benches and 2 and 3 deads (therefore no success…just red face). I’ll post them when I get around to loading them to my computer.

I had planned on going out drinking tonight but ended up talking to my other ‘coach’ (who wasn’t able to make it to the meet) for like an hour and a half. Our convo started with me recapping my blondeness as well as all of my lifts and then transitioned into threesomes (both MFM and FFM) and sexual conquests. He’s my fave.

What’s next? Well I’ll let you know once I figure it out.

Thanks guys. I woke up this morning not feeling nearly as beat up as after Niagara. My main pain point (besides my hangover) after Niagara was how tight my back was. I think pulling sumo (and not making 2 of the lifts) made this less sore.

I’m actually heading into the gym shortly for some active recovery and chit chat.
