Lift Like a Girl

I played hookie this afternoon and lied out in my backyard in my bikini to get some sun. It was 85Fish (36C) and oh so nice. I plan on doing the same Friday, except with my best friend by a pool. This body needs some sun before I send it to California. Anyways, since I was home early and had to be in St. C’s later in the evening, I headed down to the club.

Bench
45x10
75x5
95x5
105x3
Shirt on:
135x3 (seating shirt)
170x2 (Boards: 2 to a 1)
170x2 (Same)
170x2 (Boards: 1 to a 0)
170x1 (To chest)

I dumped a few of these, I got stuck on a few and was just generally getting really frustrated. Hoi isn’t around this week and since Frank is gearing up for Ottawa, I didn’t want to bug him too much. The final one was decent. I have A LOT of work to do in my shirt before I move.

Deadlift
135x5
225x3
Suit (the same 36 WS I was in a few weeks back)
275x1
315x1
340x1 PR!
350x1 PR!

Everything was coming up pretty easily. I kept the suit slippers on the whole time because it was really hot/muggy in the gym and if I had any hope in hell of getting the suit off, I needed to keep them on. It still took me about 5 minutes. Also, after the incident a few weeks back (the only other time I was in this suit) where I took a backwards tumble, one of the guys stood behind me just in case I started to fall back. We were pulling in a weird spot kind of between the squat rack and squash courts so I would have definitely hit my head on something if I fell back.

It was a good day in the gym overall. A few others hit some PRs as well, including an 82.5er who hit a raw (belt only) 470lb pull. He went for it once, didn’t budge it, let go, re-set-up, same outcome. He took about 30 seconds, pulled his head out of his ass, and grinded it out.

My body is already sore… quads, glutes, pecs, lats, back… from yesterday and today. I’m taking a few days off from the gym since I have an all day volleyball 2s tourney on Saturday and I bet my body will love me for it. [/quote]

Excellent job lady. I’m really pleased for you. Who pulled 470?

x2

you’re pull is really coming along nicely.

Nice pull, Court!

Since I don’t have a meet in the foreseeable future, training has been taking a bit of a sideseat lately to things like enjoying life…

This weekend I was in a coed 2s beach volleyball tourney. It was super hot out all day and I got lots of sun. It was good. I planned on not doing much yesterday because I was tired after a full day of beach, but one of my guy friends convinced me to go down to the Pride Parade with him. We ended up being downtown, partying, dancing, laughing until 1am. I’m a little tired this morning.

I had planned on going to the gym before volleyball tonight, however I managed to roll my ankle on Saturday at volleyball and then maybe kinda sorta fell down some stairs yesterday afternoon. It’s a little tender at the moment.

I’m heading down to the club on Wednesday morning to train with the boys on my birthday. I will go in tomorrow just to do some light stuff and get some blood flowing again, especially through my shoulders which are sore from a day of vball.

You have to be one of the biggest clutzes I’ve ever (kind of) met. “I managed to roll my ankle…and then maybe kinda sorta fell down some stairs…”? And then you get concussions from balls hitting you in the head and yet you put yourself in situations where these occurrences are more likely to happen?

You’d think you would’ve learned by now … classic Court

I hate you. The rolling of the ankle occurred while playing. It’s my bad ankle, so I was wearing an ankle brace which prevented it from being all that bad.

It rained yesterday during the parade and afterwards we were having a party on a rooftop…which meant we had to climb up and down these steep metal fire-escape-looking stairs. On my way down the stairs I slipped because it was wet and slid down a few. I was wearing my helmet so I would be safe :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe you should’ve given the helmet wearing advice to Billy Mays…

Court

great pulling-- and you kind of are a little like calamity Jane.
Id write it off as part of turning 25.

When I turned 30 I went to the ER 14 times in less then a year.
broken finger
table saw and thumb.
badly sprained knee while roller blading
dog bite to the ear
grossly inflamed elbow bursitis elbow the size of a grapefruit
broken toe
HUGE splinter under my fingernail
most of these happened in very close proximity to one another

so I wont bust balls or eggs, for klutziness.

kmc

you really insipire me. I’m 5’8" and people (mediocre, of course) always tell me “you’re already too tall, why would someone ever like a muscular, tall woman?” This country the average woman is 5’1". I don’t even reply… that’s their loser mentality!!! GREAT JOB!!!

Happy birthday!!! Party like a rock star.

Happy Birthday. Have fun in St. Kits today.

Happy Birthday Sugartits … hope you burn the city to the ground!

Court is drunk already.
Happy birthday!

Why would that not surprise me at all

damn Polo i wanted to call her suga’ tits
You get fireworks for your birthday Court, your sooo special (and I mean that in the English way of course, not how the Quebecers use the term LOL)

Happy BDay, Court!

Thanks everyone  For the record, I didn’t drink yesterday! Well that’s kind of a lie. I had 2 glasses of wine with dinner. That’s it! After training in the morning, I just didn’t feel like putting any booze in me.

Training has been super slack lately. I’m working like a pig at work and am really stressed out because of it. Thankfully a coworker just got back from vacay as of today so hopefully she can take some of my load. I’ve also been playing a lot more volleyball than usual, so I just haven’t made it into the gym. Whatever I’m doing is working though because my weight is down to 153.6lbs. Just as a reference, I weighed in on June 6th at 161.2. There were even a few comments made yesterday that I look like I’ve trimmed down. They weren’t just being nice because it was my birthday either.

Anywho…training on Saturday went very differently than planned. The plan was to do some band squats, have some fun, etc. There were lots of people around and as I was warming up for squats, Glyn made a comment asking if I was going to do the Niagara thing and go for a PR. Of course I had to. Since I hadn’t squatted in exactly a week and haven’t been in my squat suit since my meet, it wasn’t the smartest thing, but whatever.

Squat:
45x10x1
135x5x2
185x3x1
225x1x1
Suit on (my loose suit):
275x1 - straps up, knees loosely wrapped
315x1 - straps up, medium wrap
345x0 - went down with speed, started to come up, thought “man this feels heavy”, lost focus, made the spotters catch me.

A different day it would have been mine, so I’m quite okay with it.

Bench:
45x10x1
85x5x1

My pec is still bothering me so I stopped…

Deadlift
185x5x1
205x3x1
225x3x1
255x3x3

Pretty easy, pretty light iwth just my belt. Good day

Glad to have you back in the training C-Money…that’s some dedication not to drink on your b-day too

HAHAHAh I knew we were made for each other, mt B-day was yesterday as well. I think we should get drunk together and than skinny dip.
