Life Outside the Gym?

This was my first post reading about him or his issues. After reading your last response I am worried.

Samul, instagram is life porn. It is not real. I always refer to them as Fakebook and Instasham for a reason. Ever hear of dudes who can’t get it up for their partner or never want sex with their partner because of too much porn? Instagram will do that to you as well but with career, social life etc. Also, stop looking at pictures of videos of shirtless dudes while in class. That part should be self explanatory. Also kind of makes me want to update my ‘nobody cares how buff you are’ stance to ‘only other dudes care about how buff you are’. This is not a comment on sexuality.

I am considering that option too but, like Waittz said, I have to be realistic about the job I want to do as well. When I look at people like CT or Paul Carter that have been able to make a living solely out of fitness I dream about doing the same, but I am not positive I can achieve that too.

I know what my end goal is. It’s very hard to find a job in Italy, compared to most other counties, but I do not want to end up like either of my parents. My mum is unemployed and my father barely makes € 1,900 a month working as a police officer, constantly worrying about bills and the house rental. I want to shoot for a job that’ll eventually earn me AT THE VERY LEAST € 3,000 a month, but honestly I want to achieve a bigger income than that. Maybe € 5k a month.

I have lots of insecurities, but I firmly believe that I am an intelligent enough individual that, if I play my cards correctly, I can end up with a very good income. It’s the whole “playing my cards right” part that I’m unsure how to go about.

I did not post today about watching Instagram videos in class. If you saw any posts from me about that, they must be at least a couple of weeks old. And I have in fact considered your points of view and have been trying to cut on my phone usage in class. I do not follow fitness people on Instagram, I honestly just follow my real life friends and some meme pages that help me have a good laugh from time to time, by the way.

Here’s the weird thing. I do not obsess with macro timing or advanced techniques anymore, and I haven’t since I’ve been working with Paul. He showed me how uncomplicated this stuff can be. I used to be constantly thinking about switching programs and diets, but now I’ve pretty much lost interest.

That’s why I am considering doing 5/3/1 for a year after I’m done with him. I want to see if my life gets better once I have made this as simple as possible. And it doesn’t get much simpler than 5/3/1. Plus I need to get stronger. My only concern is that in this period of 12 months I will most likely eventually get to a point where I am not satisfied with my bf% anymore and I want to cut, and I don’t know how well cutting and 5/3/1 go together (but judging by the diet Jim suggest lifters follow while on the program, I would say not much).

I think this whole thing might have been misinterpreted to some degree. I do NOT spend lots of time on Instagram, and I follow virtually NO fitness celebrity.

I only either read articles on here or various other training and nutrition websites, read ebooks, and sometimes watch videos about this topic (from guys like John Meadows, not “shirtless buff guys”)

You’re missing out son

A few things. I highly encourage this. Not just the program, but read all 3 books. I think this will help put a lot of things in perspective for you, I also think you will generally enjoy the program.

Don’t make the common mistakes of sacrificing long term strength and size gains to hold onto low bf. If you are not going onstage, you don’t really need to be lower than 10% year round. Also to gain muscle you do not need to get fat. Especially in your teens, a 300-500 surplus shouldn’t do much to you.

Lastly, you can diet on any program. Some of his programs in Forever while not cutting themed, have fatloss as a side effect. Chose one of those and eat at or slightly below maintenance.

This isn’t an all or nothing game. It’s lifting stuff and eating food. Tailor it to your life, don’t tailor your life to it.

Dude, this is so not cool.

If you’re even remotely serious, you are a major asshole.

Not to mention people that fuck with animals “grow up” to fuck with people.

Dude your 55, I dont think you get the concept of internet jokes.

Dude, your production was really good! Do something with it.

This - the finding - will cause more anxiety lol

Lol I thought the days of you making fun of me were over

haha, I’m serious! It was!

EDIT: no one is ever safe from me making fun of them but I’m not doing it this time.

Somehow ICT slips by the crooked industries label but as someone who works in ICT, I find it hard to believe that other industries could be filled with bigger frauds.

From consultants charging thousands per day with knowledge/experience that extends back to the wikipedia article they read yesterday to salesmen that will sell you shit that doesn’t exist to companies whose entire business model is to try sue your ass at every opportunity… awful. I guess the dev side isn’t so bad.

Well for some time last year I actually made money by having guys use record songs with my equipment and then mixing those songs for them. Those guys were all wannabe trappers or rappers, not my cup of tea, so I was bored and unmotivated. I charged € 25 a song, each song took me a whole afternoon to finish, and I think I made around € 300 during that period. Not too shabby but I hated most of it.

When I’m mixing my own covers, though, I could spend hours in front of the screen mixing and matching effects. If only I were good at singing too… But I believe that if I found a pop singer to work with, I’d have a much better time. Again, trap/rap are just not my thing. You probably recall the kind of songs I like.

Unfortunately my sound card is currently broken and I can’t do much. I’d love to get back to singing though. I’ll have to wait a few weeks for it to get repaired.

There was a time when I was always watching YouTube videos about mixing techniques and stuff, and I thought I could maybe do that as a job, but it always discouraged me to watch the pros and realize that I don’t even have a musical background, no knowledge of music, and I’m miles and miles away from being able to do it as well as they do.

It was. Totally missed that. I apologize.

Try competitive fly casting. Seems silly but if you can throw a piece of string 120 feet you’ve really done something, and if you can’t, nobody cares.

Even if you can, nobody cares.

And it gives you a lot of quiet time to reflect on where it all went wrong.

I skimmed what you said and initially thought you had dared him to try competitive fasting, I was like damn bro that’s harsh…

Maybe so, but at some point he’s going to have to. As long as it’s not your number one focus it shouldn’t cause too much anxiety, just try to meet girls when the opportunity arises and hopefully find one you like. Girls can cause all sorts of problems, but the alternatives are getting a sex change or taking it in the rear. Opt for the less painful choice.

Do this bro. Make working towards this a big part of your life and keep lifting too ez

Kafka wrote about this. “The Hunger Artist”. It reads like most of Kafka’s work.

Hey, there’s a thing. @Samul Read Kafka, so you too can have worthless trivia to share.

Ein Hungerkunstler! A strange, depressing allegory. I have respect for Kafka, but never got much joy out of reading his works.
