And also worth to mention that fish oil is not equal all fish oil. Quallity matters a lot fwiw. If you buying cheapest fish oil that can actually be detrimental to your health. Worth getting quallity fish oil and go from there.
Thinking about doing just that. I had no other issues on fish oil besides libido. In fact, it definitely boosted my mental acuity and helped my memory. I miss that aspect.
I took Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 2X, definitely high-quality.
If you do, and you get the same result, make sure to post back.
This is really interesting.
Very interesting.
And OP is a clear case of PSSD imo. (like PFS)
Fish oil gave me lot’s of anxiety and revved me up. I have no problem eating fish but supplements have never been good to me.
Update: My libido had been strong since the discontinuation of the fish oil. I decided to start taking it again a few weeks ago. My libido crashed once again, morning erections disappeared, borderline became asexual. I stopped taking it a week ago and my libido returned full force.
For reference I took Nordic Naturals 2150mg/day. EPA 1125, DHA 875.
Edit: forgot to add, it also made me irritable on a daily basis. I will miss the cognitive benefits though.
Thanks for updating. Interesting fish oil has that affect on you.
I wonder if other brands would do it as well.
Not the first time I read about fish oil being bad for libido…
Fish oil disrupts my sleep and gives me anxiety. It’s weird. Eating fish doesn’t have that effect.
Almost one year since the original post, what kind of conclusions can you make? Definitely the fish oil? I’ve been dealing with something similar. But the Fish Oil gives me great anti-inflammatory benefits. As well as cognition.
I was taking MASSIVE dosages for a bit an brought it down in July. It’s helped some but I dropped it for 4 days and was getting hard and horny for no real reason. I only brought it back because of the above reasons. Might have to drop it again.
I know for a fact ssri cause sexual issues . Antidepressants will destroy your manhood. I know. Been on them for 10 years.
Yup. People need to look up PSSD.
SSRI’s are poison
They’re a drug with side effects just like any other. There’s no doubt they helped numerous people grasp enough control of their life to actively work on getting in a better mental state. There’s no need to label something an evil poison when it’s clearly not a one way street.
Sometimes it seems that the members of this forum are obsessed with maintaining hard-ons 24/7 that they don’t realize that libido problems are the last thing on someone’s mind when contemplating suicide.
SSRI’s aren’t the answer for depressions, they’re a bandaid at best and life destroying at worst.
Also PSSD is much more than just getting ur dick hard, you have no idea…
Yes, it seemed to be the fish oil for me, no issues since discontinuation. Really big emphasis on the “for me” part of my previous statement. Others may do just fine with it.
Let’s not paint with a broad brush here. I’m absolutely sure others (and maybe yourself) have had horrible experiences with antidepressants, but even the research evaluation you post stated “the study was not able to separately analyze any subtypes or varying severities of depression. The authors say that future studies should investigate the use of non-pharmacological depression interventions used in combination with antidepressants.” Basically, comparisons were made between non-pharmaceutically treated individuals, and those who were treated with antidepressants (who did experience increases in feelings of wellbeing btw), and the differences between the groups were not statistically significant.
Far more research needs to be conducted for us to be making definitive statements favoring either non-pharmaceutical or pharmaceutical interventions.
Often times antidepressants outperform placebo by a very small percentage, and symptoms remain while creating chemical imbalances in the brain. If you don’t have an imbalance, SSRI’s can create one.
Sad to see many still have such trust in big pharma. Even after covid…
I wonder how many times they’re vaxxed…
I first created this thread for advice, I now update it for others, should they have a similar experience and want to rule out factors which may be leading to their symptoms. I’m all for healthy debate, but stooping to insinuations of lack of judgement/insight from others in this thread contributes nothing.
You made an assertion, thus the burden of proof is on you. No one here said they implicitly trusted big pharma. We are talking about one class of drugs, and stating there is evidence for and against them.
